| Headshots - Recognition & Reporting Posted: 11/1/2007 8:13:28 AM | | I think your picture looks fine. I would rather see some resembling of a person than not have a picture at all. I can't understand why this is such a big issue. A picture isn't even needed to be on the site. | |

| Headshots - Recognition & Reporting Posted: 11/1/2007 1:30:26 PM | I can't understand why this is such a big issue.
ALL pictures MUST contain you in it with a visible head shot at minimum
That is posted in the upload area and is impossible to miss.
Why is it an issue:
1. Many users do not want messages from those without images. They do not mean an image of the back of your head or a cartoon. They want to see the face of the person they are corresponding with. Uploading any image that is not recognizably you is seen as an attempt to circumvent this filter.
2. There is not unlimited space on the image server for images. This is not the place to store joke pics, cartoons etc.
3. Forum posters who post an image should be recognizable to moderators. Joke pics, blurry images, and other obvious image rule violations are a clear indication that the user is more than willing to violate the rules of the site. One who has posted a recognizable image of their face is less likely to push the boundaries too far, as if they are banned permanently they won't be able to post an image upon return, as they will be recognized fairly quickly.
4. There is zero tolerance for copyright violation here.
There are many BIG issues, that are not understood at first glance, but the image rules are specific and have been created and imposed with good reason.

| Headshots - Confusion? Posted: 1/29/2008 7:53:42 PM | Hi, I'm a new user, so let me bring you "new user" viewpoint...
There's a certain level of confusion in that some areas qualify the rule by stating "primary profile photo" or "main photo."
The early parts of this thread had wordage similar to this and the link under someone's profile picture says ("Report profile if main image doesn't show users face").
The profile FAQ (http://www.plentyoffish.com/faq.aspx) says nothing about this restriction, "main photo" or otherwise.
I did see the red print on the pic page, but initially I thought it really meant "main photo only."
(Yes, I had an image deleted, a full-face motorcycle helmet [with visor open] doesn't meet the criteria, ah well.)

| Headshots - Confusion? Posted: 1/30/2008 10:21:35 AM | | Applies to all Images, but its only primarily enforced for 'Main Images' at this Time.

| headshots reporting Posted: 2/6/2008 1:10:08 PM | | Hi there, I really hope you can help me understand what I did wrong. I posted a pic on my profile page last night and it did the disappearing thing. I thought if there was something wrong with it we got an email advising us that it was removed and why. It's just me - nothingb nude/cartoon. Pic is a little dark if you want to be fussie, but nothing that prevents you from seeing it. Can you help me out please? I've just put it back on so you can see - just not sure how long it will stay there. Thanks so much for your help. | |

| headshots reporting Posted: 2/6/2008 2:43:41 PM | Pic is a little dark if you want to be fussie, but nothing that prevents you from seeing it. Cannot see your Eyes, the Image is a little too dark, thus a tad on the unrecognizable Side.

| headshots reporting Posted: 2/6/2008 8:30:25 PM | I just got my pic deleted for no apparent reason except that this site must be run by USA standards. Since when is a man's chest considered nude? The picture was a clear shot and my face to my waist. I was not nude.
Double standards.... The women can be falling out of there blouses or whatever, but let a man show his chest... this is to be expected I suppose. I seriously doubt this site is run by women. If it was, there wouldn't be such blatantly obvious, stare in your face discrimination. So tell me, at what point is a picture of a male considered nude? When it gets below his neck? What if he is wearing a tank top? Ooopps, I suppose that would be a bit too much skin. I better stick with a sweater that doesn't show me popping out of it.

| headshots reporting Posted: 2/7/2008 1:19:54 AM | I just got my pic deleted for no apparent reason except that this site must be run by USA standards. Considering the Guy that reviews your Images is Canadian, the only Standards used are those already published via numerous Links on this Thread ... which you could, given the Will, be studied by you. The Rest is answered within the Links below:
Double standards.... The women can be falling out of there blouses or whatever, but let a man show his chest... this is to be expected I suppose. It was never deleted because of of your Chest, thats merely your own Fabrication. There is no such Standard for deleting Profile Images.
So tell me, at what point is a picture of a male considered nude? The same Thing they taught you in Kindergarden to not flash little girls with during Nap Time.
| I'll check what the actual Nature of the Image you uploaded was, not the BS you are peddling here, and then will determine if your Image Upload Privileges should be under Question. |

It was never deleted because of of your Chest Then why was it deleted? It cleary showed my face and was not fuzzy/dark at all.

I'll check what the actual Nature of the Image you uploaded was, not the BS you are peddling here, and then will determine if your Image Upload Privileges should be under Question. and at the same time, review the following from a prior link given to you:
If the Person is not identifiable, recognizable, "Could be any half a dozen People ...", even if the Person is standing too far away from the Camera, or anything that obstructs a clear View of the Face, such as deeply tinted or very reflective Glasses, closed Eyes, Hair, Hats, Hands, etc. As a Main Image, a Profile Shot where both Eyes are not visible is not acceptable, and the Angle of the Head should be such that they can be clearly seen. and then assess the above against your current main image, which would then lend credence to the fact that what your interpretation of what you think is valid is certainly not in alignment with the site's policy.
Don't be overly surprised if your current snap goes bye bye as well ...

| headshots reporting Posted: 2/7/2008 4:44:17 PM | | My current snap was due to my main being deleted. I had no choice in that matter, it just defaulted to it. As I stated, my main pic was clear and concise. | |
|
| headshots reporting Posted: 2/7/2008 4:49:48 PM | | I tried to upload one that does show my face better, rather than the one picked by default. But apparently, I've lost my upload priveledges. Due to why, I don't know. I broke not one of the rules you have outlined, no nudity, head/eyes clearly visible, etc... I suppose showing my chest upset someone, since I see no other reason than that. | |
|
| headshots reporting Posted: 2/7/2008 5:05:24 PM | | perhaps my last uploads where to small or something. I tried several but only one finally worked. My upload priveledges have not been revoked. At least at this time. In this last upload, I am not even showing my chest, so hopefully, nobody is going to go ballistic and report my picture as indecent, or whatever the heck was wrong with it in the first place. | |

| Headshots - Recognition & Reporting Posted: 3/2/2008 4:32:01 AM | Hey, I don't want to cause a stir but when you said reflective sunglasses as a main image is not allowed, I noticed one of the mods has this on their main image
However, saying that, the rest of the photographs do comply, could I have a photo like this too as long as my other photo's conform?
Any answer would be really appreciated!

| Headshots - Recognition & Reporting Posted: 4/30/2008 5:06:28 PM | Thanks to all who have shared their stories. It makes a little more sense of mine:
So I have been out of here for a while, and come back and am updating my profile and uploading new photos. I find the beach shot of me -- I am too far away to see my face. I look on my computer for the head shot I wanted to use and can't find it. So I log out and chase down my son to get my cell phone to get the head shot on there. When I come back I have email from a man criticizing my photo. I tell him I am still in the process of getting my profile set up, but also tell him to go away (who wants to talk to the critical type). He writes me back, apparently angry, and although I did upload my headshot, he reports my photo and both are gone and I can't upload anything.
Apparently I've lost my upload privileges? Why? because I can't complete a profile in time to meet his standards. I did not get any warning message at all. The head shot clearly shows my face.
I think I'll just keep all my photos private -- assuming I can ever load them again. Why post them if some angry dude is just gonna cause problems even when I'm trying to follow the rules?? Letting us police each other opens the door for vindictive actions. Since photos aren't required, why make such a fuss?
