| PICS: Headshots - Recognition & Reporting Posted: 3/19/2009 10:40:07 AM | Are we allowed to report pics that are non-compliant if the user is a VIP or Serious Member? Do they have immunity? Also, I wanted to report a few Serious members for spam content in their profiles. Will Admin still take action on a paid member's profile? Thanks for any clarifiaction on this. | |

If as you state, you're talking about the picture as seen here beside your post, your face represents a scant 2% of the entire photo. If someone gave me that pic and lined up 5 similar people in a police line-up - there's no way I could pick you out. Your house and tree stand a 100% chance of being nailed though.
The only reason that you got dinged this time is that some people finally reported it.
Take your photo and crop out all the unnecessary other things like the house and shrub/tree, then re-upload it.

| reporting Posted: 5/20/2009 8:50:08 PM | I am having some major issues in uploading my pic... everytime i hit the upload but it takes me to a page with a huge warning about pictures with nudity. One of the pics is me outside with a tree and the other a head shot of me watching a game .. and I am FULLY clothed in both .. not really sure what to do. I have searched through posts to find an answer and I even sent an email.... still no luck.. I appreciate any help that anyone can give..
thanks | |

| headshots reporting Posted: 6/6/2009 1:52:06 AM | | I've just been reviewing the new pics and doing the ol' rejection/approve motions BUT.. I came across a pic of a torso going down to an erect penis ... I rejected it of course , but my question is - do admin see this pic that's been rejected and take action ? There's no way to report this user via the method I was using. | |
|
| headshots reporting Posted: 6/6/2009 4:33:47 PM | When you try to upload images all you see are these guidelines.
Cartoons, celebrity, Torso and Joke pictures are not allowed. Make sure the image is in JPG, BMP or GIF format. You can share these private pictures with other members when sending them a message. You can now edit your thumbnails, if they are distorted! More help for Add / Change / Delete Images Allow others to rate your image Serious Users can upload 16 images instead of the normal 8. ALL pictures MUST contain you in it with a visible head shot at minimum
If there are so many other ambiguous criteria as detailed throughout this thread and referred to on others would it not be a good idea to make the uploading instructions far more specific to avoid confusion?
|
| headshots reporting Posted: 6/7/2009 8:54:41 AM | Heres's a question (which will probs need answering by BF)
If you upload an image and untick the show on profile option (ie you make it 'private') does it still go into the public vetting system?

|
| headshots reporting Posted: 6/7/2009 12:15:28 PM | ah so that *may* be why Miss browngreeneyes saw what she saw.
So private images (of your privates for example) aren't really private then

So private images (of your privates for example) aren't really private then They're still private in that you have no idea who they belong to. You can't click on the picture and be taken to the owner's profile, which is what Browngreeneyes was talking about. She could vote to reject the picture, but she couldn't go to the guy's profile and report him for uploading it in the first place, because there's no way for her to know who did it.
It would make sense if things were set up so that if someone keeps getting pictures rejected because of nudity their account would be flagged for scrutiny, but unless Admin comes along and lets us know whether that's what happens, we'll just have to continue along in the dark.
|
| headshots reporting Posted: 6/8/2009 12:38:03 AM | I appreciate you don't get to click through to the profile however you seem to be missing the point, there's a broader issue here.
Scenario Time (non gender speciific):
I'm a POF noobie and I only want to send a picture of my face to people who I choose to . This could be for any number of reasons all of which boil down too I don't want world + dog to know I'm here.
I've uploaded a portrait style photo of myself , fully compliant with the instructions on the upload page and elected not to show my picture on my profile.
Now surely I have a reasonable expectation of privacy if I've chosen this option but imagine my shock when my boss mentions to me that they've seen me on POF.
When asked they point out the public censoring/vetting system that as a noobie I didn't even know existed.
|
| headshots reporting Posted: 6/8/2009 12:37:43 PM | The chances of someone you know just happening to see your picture that way are slim to none. I doubt if most users are even aware that they can participate in the vetting system, let alone actually doing it.
And I wouldn't be surprised if things were set up in such a way that a person rating pictures would never see pictures from other people in their area. That would help ensure the privacy of people who don't want their pictures to be shown publicly and lessen the chance that someone votes to delete a perfectly acceptable picture just because the voter recognizes and dislikes the person in it.
If you're uploading a picture to a site like this, even if it's going to be kept hidden, you have to expect that someone is still going to be checking it. It would be nice if that process was explained somewhere easy to find before you actually upload, but considering most people don't bother to read the fine print or find out how things work until after there's a problem, maybe Admin thinks the space that would be used on explanations is better used on something people might actually pay attention to. Ya know, like that big red sign that says "no nudity" that everyone obviously pays attention to.

| headshots reporting Posted: 6/14/2009 11:25:51 AM | | sunglasses should not be an issue due to the fact there might be a reason why a peson wears sunglasses.. however what about if its more then one person in the shot, i would count that as not being clear in the sence you cant be clear of which person it is. | |
|
| headshots reporting Posted: 6/14/2009 5:33:44 PM | Yeah, well why was my main image deleted when it clearly shows my face and eyes? Every time I upload it, it keeps disappearing and I have received no email notification that it has been deleted.
There's nothing wrong with my image at all. It complies with all the rules.
Is it a problem with the new Flash uploader?
|
| headshots reporting Posted: 6/14/2009 5:41:59 PM | | ^^^^ Are you speaking of you current main pic? If so, it must be a glitch b/c that's a good head shot and certainly acceptable. | |

Yes, my current pic showing is the one that keeps disappearing. This is the third time I have had to upload it.
There's a logo on my jacket in the bottom right hand corner of the full sized version, but it's illegible and is clearly part of my clothing, and not a watermark from another site.

| Headshots - Recognition & Reporting Posted: 6/21/2009 12:35:16 AM | UPLOADING NUDITY WILL GET YOUR ACCOUNT DELETED You can upload up to 8 images, you may keep these images hidden from other members by selecting not to display them on your profile.
My uploading priveledges were suspended a while back because of exactly this reason. I posted a couple private pics that weren't "nudity" (hell even the US Gvt and UN can't define that) they were artsy pics in the vein of 1950-60's playboy pics, that showed NO GENETALIA nor were they Sexually explicit...yet my accnt was nuked for the exact quoted reason as given by you.
I realize you are the dictator of your own site but seems if youre going to police every pic someone puts up...you can at least spend the extra 2-3 seconds to email the offender a warning...some people do not understand you intentions when they are unclearly communicated. It seems it would make for a friendlier site and a less hostile workplace for the person dealing with the feedback.
I apologized...asked to be allowed posting priv again...and that takes a month and still no answer. Close 1 eye in a pic and instant nukedom???Let's be a LITTLE more fair...please?

| Headshots - Recognition & Reporting Posted: 7/17/2009 11:17:06 PM | What I don't understand is why a photo without a clear face isn't okay, but no photo at all is okay... *scratches head* lol Strange logic in that, I think.
I mean, sure, a photo with someone's face clearly seen makes it more comfortable to talk to someone, but at the same time... who knows if the photo is actually that person or not?
