Posted: 4/14/2008 7:54:05 PM | A "real man" is someone who is not "metrosexual" and all that crap. I dated a guy who turned out to be bisexual so that's why I put that out there on my profile. I want a guy in my life who is not confused about which way he swings so to speak. There's nothing worse than to have to compete against a guy when you are a woman!!! I can't stress that enough. I didn't let the relationship get serious because I figured it out eventually. No, he didn't tell me.
I like a guy who is comfortable with himself and knows what he wants and isn't afraid to say, "Hey, I like you. Let's get to know each other".

As long as there are men who have the delusional and pompous fantasy of being with Barbie looking princesses and are willing to pay them to have them, there will be women with grandiose delusions of what a real man is…with all due respect.
Neither of those are delusional or pompous fantasies. They are what nature has dictated has the highest rate of survival and replication and thus is why we find such things attractive.
The problem isn't that people want "real men" and "barbie dolls." It's that those of us that don't fit that description would rather complain about how people shouldn't want those things because it makes us feel bad that they want them instead of us rather than try to better ourselves to become those things. People, particularly in the western world, are lazy and like to make excuses. We lack discipline and enjoy bringing other people down to our level much more than we enjoy building ourselves up to a higher one. Because it’s easier.
And kudos to A Pirate for his dead-on accurate post about feminism. All very true. | |

Real men...
...put God above their wives, children, career and prosperity.
...treat their mothers with respect.
...see above and translate to treat ALL women with respect.
...know that even though this is 2008, they should still be the provider and the rock of their family.
...know the difference between sex and love and appreciate the value of both.
...have opinions and speak their minds without trying to offending others.
...take initiative in bettering themselves.
...don't compromise their values for others.
...take the time to be good fathers no matter what the cost.
...are open minded.
…are not afraid of their feelings.
…are trustworthy friends and lovers.
I think the list could go on and on so I’ll stop here. All in all, when a woman says a “real man” I thing most of us mean a true to himself good person. A man with values who treats a woman like a lady  | |

The lack of sensibility in that description is utterly astounding, but I suppose it takes a very specific formula to float that woman's boat.
I would think that someone with the courage to choose what they want to believe based on a personal journey through dangerous mistakes would be the most real of them.
Not only that, but where did this "taking care of the family" bunk come from?
In case you folks haven't noticed, women are very capable as caretakers of a family, and additionally a man is a perfectly capable homekeeper.
If anything, I'd say a Real Man is not defined by his relationships with others, or by his reputation among them.
A real man is more like one who has an intimate, honest relationship with himself and knows all the reasons why he deserves to feel self-esteem, don't you think? | |

Anyhow---I think that we can all agree that it's a personal factor with each person. Obviously some people's definition of "real" man would have me right off the list.
Fine for me. I'll just be me--- everyone else can work it out on their own.
The RIGHT woman will either 1) recognize that the concept of "real man" is flawed and stupid. The modern man is asked to do many things that contradict each other-- OR 2) will have no problem seeing me as a man despite the fact that I prefer ideas to beliefs or that I eat quiche. | |

Well, obviously the definition is subject to opinion; however, in my opinion, men who acknowledge a greater power than themselves are the most attractive. They base their lives in values and not in the materialism of the world. I think that I can speak for many women when I say that this is important.

Posted: 4/16/2008 11:52:01 PM | so far , and not to insult anyone, most of the responses have been a lot of horseshit. There is no clear definition of a real man that encompasses all women. This boils down to a matter of personal taste. Some women have claimed a real man is not a dude in the closet, others that he is packing a 15 inch tipdrill, others want a man who respects their mother, the list is too long and can definately not fit every man.
Just as to some men a real woman is one who is pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen and to others a real woman is not one who will call us to change a flat on the highway. That real man statement I read is a lot of nonesense. Simply state your preference in a man and call it a day because I have seen some men idolized by their women and in my eyes they were straight punked by their women. I know a guy who cant even settle down and watch Sports Center without his woman asking him to do something and this moron jumps up and runs like a fool. If thats a real man then you can have him. Dude has to consult his wife for everything even though he works and she stays home.
For me, take me as I am or get ya ass out the door and find you someone else. If you meet me at the bar dont expect me to start sitting at home with you watching lifetime on a friday night when the counter is 50 lines deep at the local bar.
ALL REAL MEN REPEAT AFTER ME
I will...
1. Take out the trash when I am good and ready
2. wash my plate when I feel like it
3. Not waste my time with frivolous arguments
4. Their is no conspiracy against you at your job so I dont wanna hear that shit everyday when I walk in.
5. Listen to your issue once , offer my opinion, apologize if AND ONLY IF i feel it was my fault and not just to appease you and if its not resolved for you, seek assistance elswhere.
6. I will surf POF till 7 am if I feel like it.
