Avocado Shake Vary ratios to taste and preference
One medium avocado 8 large ice cubes 3 tablespoons condensed milk 1/3 cup milk
Place all ingredients into a blender and whiz until the ice cubes are crushed and the drink is thick and frothy. Pour into a tall glass with a straw, or savor and share it in a series of shots. It's rich stuff. Share the fortune. | |

---Or smashed up, garlic sea salt, fine-sliced tomato, pepper, lemon..............and a little yogurt. Even lowfat yogurt tastes great. It smooths it out and makes a great topping. Chicken or salmon. | |

Add slices to your favorite grilled chicken ceasar salad.
Oh yum | |

| Avocado Recipes & Uses Posted: 7/20/2007 3:23:49 PM | This one works if you have little time. It's kind of cheating, but who cares. It's still good for an appetizer, or where you would use a salad.
Half and remove seed from smaller Haas avacados. Peel and slice off thin strip from bottom (prevents from moving around on plate).
In cavity where seed was, add about two teaspoons of favorite cold salad . Place on large leaf of lettuce: If potatoe salad, garnish with dill. If seafood salad, add a touch of cayanne pepper.
refrigerate.
Nice during summer, quick to prepare, looks nice on plate. Tasty without giving that bloated feel. | |

| Avocado Recipes & Uses Posted: 7/21/2007 7:06:53 PM | Went hiking at Tahoe today. After the hike I walked along a picnic area at the lake in Tahoe City. There was a Hispanice family cooking, what looked like Fajita meat on the grill, along with pineapple rings and halved avocado. I've seen the pineapple rings done on the grill before, but never avocado. Has anyone ever done this, or heard of it being done? If so, I wonder if you use any seasoning, or anything like lemon or lime juice. I should have stopped and asked them about it, but I didn't think about it until I home.
JDeeeeeeee! Where aaaaaarrrrreeeeee you?
Hey Eddie, One of the bike rental shops along the lake had sidewalkers just like mine, for rent. | |

With the influx of South African butchers, BILTONG is now easily available. This is salted dried meat and if prepared properly divine.
Peel and slice AVO , brush with lemon juice to prevent it turning brown.
Toss a little lettuce, halved baby tomatoes in olive oil , add avo slices, Add in a handful of the sliced biltong, add in some crumbled blue cheese and sprinkle with a blue cheese sauce. Grind over some black pepper...voila The biltong can be omitted or replaced with ham, pastrami, cold roast beef.... | |

| Avocado Recipes & Uses Posted: 7/22/2007 6:42:35 PM | Yes, I halve my avocado, sprinkle with olive oil, lemon or lime juice, salt and black pepper and grill. You can eat it with a spoon out of the shell that way.
It is said that "real" guacamole is actually only made with salt and lime juice mixed with the avocado. It's how I make mine and I prefer it that way (though on occasion I add cilantro, jalepeno). Along with freshly made tortilla chips, it rocks. | |

| Avocado Recipes & Uses Posted: 7/30/2007 9:39:10 PM | | In South America they don't put anything much in with avocado, like ^^^^ said. My mother in law would smack me if I tried to put tomatoes, mayo or anything else in besides some salt and pepper and lime juice. Mash it up and its good to go on chips, burgers or even just on toast. | |

| Avocado Recipes & Uses Posted: 8/9/2007 2:33:30 PM | A cold soup for our hot summer:
Avocado Soup
3 ripe avocados 1½ cups chicken stock 1 cup whipping cream 2 tablesoons cognac curry, salt and fresh cracked pepper to taste
Slice the avocados and remove the seeds; reserve one half of one avocado. Scoop the flesh out of the remaining 5 halves, and purée together with the chicken stock and ¾ cup of the whipping cream until very smooth. Add curry, salt and pepper to taste, and stir in the cognac, then chill the soup. Before serving, whip the remaining ¼ cup of whipping cream and remove the skin from the remaining half of avocado. Slice the avocado thinly.
Dish the soup into serving bowls, garnish with the sliced avocado and a dollop of the whipped cream. | |

| Avocado Recipes & Uses Posted: 9/26/2007 12:02:46 PM | For months, I had avocado on toast for breakfast....nothing added to the avocado....just straight up....it was fabulous.
I love seafood salad of any type in the hole where the pit was...makes a nice appetiser. To stop the avocado from discolouring, I add about 1/2 tsp. of Fruit Fresh to about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of water....dunk the avocados in and swish them around for a bit, shake off excess water, fill with seafood salad and cover with plastic wrap until ready to serve. I love lots of Bibb or Butter lettuce floating around the plate with this...perhaps a few scallions and some tomatoes, with the avocado as the centerpiece. | |

| Avocado Recipes & Uses Posted: 1/4/2008 11:02:37 AM | Someone asked earlier what Pico de Gallo is. In Mexico, it is very much like our guacamole, except they leave the avocados in cubes. Their version of guacamole is just mashed avocados.
Here, in TX pico de gallo is
med - fine chopped onions finely chopped jalepenos -- not very much med - fine chopped peeled and seeded tomatoes cilantro
My favorite condiment. | |

| Avocado Recipes & Uses Posted: 1/5/2008 3:39:55 AM | I love avocado--in sandwiches, salads, and with sugar. Growing up my mom used to make us a thick milk shake style drink--mashed up with sugar, condensed milk & evaporated milk. BUT the best is avocado ice cream. Delish!!
Avocado Ice Cream
12 ounces avocado meat, approximately 3 small to medium 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice 1 1/2 cups whole milk 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup heavy cream
Peel and pit the avocados. Add the avocados, lemon juice, milk, and sugar to a blender and puree. Transfer the mixture to a medium mixing bowl, add the heavy cream and whisk to combine. Place the mixture into the refrigerator and chill until it reaches 40 degrees F or below, approximately 4 to 6 hours.
Process the mixture in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer's directions. However, this mixture sets up very fast, so count on it taking only 5 to 10 minutes to process. For soft ice cream, serve immediately. If desired, place in freezer for 3 to 4 hours for firmer texture. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's one for Avocado Pie. It a great summer time dessert.
1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust 2 avocados - peeled, pitted and pureed 1/4 cup lemon juice 1 (5 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 8 oz (1 pkg) cream cheese
1. In a medium mixing bowl combine avocado, lemon juice, cream cheese and condensed milk. Blend well and pour into graham cracker crust. Chill before serving. Garnish with whipped topping. | |

| Avocado Recipes & Uses Posted: 1/5/2008 4:16:51 AM | Variation on the good old Brit method.... add chicken broth to the dent and the dollop of sour cream with chives on the side. Makes an awesome appetizer! Thanks, these are great! ctch [My favourite quick snack is an avocado, eaten with a teaspoon out of its peel with a dollop of salad cream (British salad dressing/mayo-type creation by Heinz) in each dent from the pit.] | |
