I am a non-nudist and not nearly being close to "not" being a prude...I'd have say I'm middle-of-the-road if you want to compare it to politics. However, I have no problem going to a nudist camp with someone and walking around naked and taking in my surroundings naturally. I'd prefer to go with someone I trusted and cared about that way we could have sex out in the open or whatever and that it was absolutely accepted. I think there is a place, or island that we ("him" and I) could go to called Hedonism I, II, and III. Don't know which is better, went and searched but don't really know anyone personally that have been there. And, I don't mind looking (and pretending not to notice) different private parts on men and checking out what the overall population looks like. I mostly go for a certain type of man, but it would be nice to see another perspective. Personally, I think a way a person carries themselves (especially nude) can tell you what the person appears to be like in a deeper way than how clothes express them.

I went out with a nudist once and we went to a nudist camp. I was kind of iffy about it but after camp was set up and everyone had their clothes off, it felt out of place to have clothes on. I only have that one experience as a group but my experience was that it was more sexual. It was all adults, a group of about 25 people in total and there was alot of sex going on, not openly but people would freely go somewhere, in their tent or trailor loudly having sex just a few feet away. Maybe because I was new at this but for me there was a heitghed sexual awareness.

Dating or having a relationship with a nudist: Would you be open to the idea or is this something you wouldn't considerate/want?

I would give it a shot. There is a place near me that a lot of people I know go to (Lupin in Los Gatos). I am not afraid of letting some sun hit my skin.

being naked is sexual period.

dang, lela. that's sad. must be rough seeing all those little sluts that rip off their diapers and run around squealing until their parents catch them and put the diapers back on.

I am a nudist and have been for quite some time. I love it and feel it's a very natural thing for me. I think alliealways' posts accurately capture the very essence of nudism. It should be a healthy, fun, relaxing and comfortable thing to do. If it isn't, then it probably isn't for you. Allie...wish you were closer (*wink*)...I like your style.

Interesting thread.

I have been to a festival where nudity was acceptable. I applaud people who feel so free in themselves to be nude. Good on em. Now as for dating a nudist. I don't know. Not sure I could go into a group of nude people and not LOOK. Although there is nothing like a secret skinny dip!

pleasure for two:

It sounds like you went to a sex camp, especially since you said it was "adults only" and public sex was allowed. At a non-sexual camp child are allowed but public sex and erections are not allowed, and the atmosphere is more relaxing than erotic (not that I don't occasionally notice an attractive female there). Once at a non-sexual camp a guy said he'd been to a swing club and one of the members read him the Riot Act about how he should behave because he's not in a sex camp!

yeah, being a nudist has it's ups and downs. i got in a nasty skateboarding accident once -- doin' round 25 or so, then hit %uckin' dog $hit! damn near grounded off ol' jimmy, but after 10 grand -- he's bionoic--!

This just gave me the greatest laugh ever

I've been a nudist for several years but only at home, while I puttered around doin' this or that. I used to be really selfconscious of my body and didn't let anyone see it or as little of it as possible. I've often called my nudist experience 'An Experiment In Liking Myself' and I do moreso now than 5 years ago when nudism was a foreign concept to me.
I just had my first nudist experience, outside my home, last night at a nudist recreational swim and it was the most wonderfully invigorating experience! The group meets once a month and I am looking forward to next months get together. They are a very friendly bunch.

There are times when it is completely wonderful to hang out with your SO naked - but all the time I would not enjoy it or welcome it - too much naked would desensitize ya from wanting it during times of intimacy - in my opinion!!

Good point but I'm not sure I agree so let me think about it and get back to you.

Ok, I'm new to this forum, but I'll help y'all out on this topic.

I've been a nudist all of my 57+ years. If the Lord had wanted us to be naked, we'd have been born that way.

In all of my years, I've only once seen a man with an erection in the open; a non-nudist at a Spencer Tunick installation in Buffalo, NY. Nudists always carry a towel. Just cover it up! It was sensuous being naked for three hours with over 2000 other naked people. What a liberating experience!

Nudists always sit on a towel! We don't leave skid marks.

I'm not over 60 yet, swim over 8000 m per week, cycle inside 2 hours per week, and over 300 km outside on the road in season. I dance social/ballroom and Latin and play volleyball, tennis, SCUBA and ride western trail... Nudists are a cross section of the population. Take a look outside on the streets; Do you see any over-weight people?

I travel on clothing-optional cruises, visit many different nudist resorts/parks in Southern Ontario and Pensylvania. Nudists are wonderfully open and friendly people. Give it a try, you may enjoy it.

It's the openess and feeling of freedom that drew me to this lifestyle. Bifurcated garments weren't worn till after the domestication of the horse.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Take care and be bare!

Anatomy lesson 101: That doesn't happen either. I play tennis and volleyball naked. Nature has a way of tightening parts up and they don't hang down as far. In really hot weather, the scrotum still keeps the testicles away from the body heat for the production of sperm.

I truly and deeply miss Wrek Beach in Vancouver. It wasn't so much the actual nudism, it was the ambience, the comeradry and the equality that was present. Everyone was simply human, not rich or poor, or of this or that creed or religion.
Nobody cared and everyone that wasn't an ass was accepted. Friends were easy to make and pretentions were non-existant.

The nights spent sitting around a bomb fire with 20-30 nudists, playing music (flutes and guitars the most common accessories) and singing as the sun would set in the ocean are memories I will always cherish.

I agree DJDugg. I've been on two clothing optional cruises with Bare Necessities and the naked people are the most open and friendly people you'll ever meet; total strangers, but with something in common. My next two cruises are a 7-day out of Ft. Lauderdale 2009 and the big one, 15-day out of Los Angeles 2010. (and they're both sold out or almost sold out).

There is no Hedonism I; just Hedo II and Hedo III. If you want the "anything goes" life, then try Hedonism II or in Hollywood, Florida, the Rooftop Hotel.

So other than that 'pay to be there' place in Calgary does anyone know of any nude beaches or such in central Alberta? I keep hearing 'oh they're all over the place' but having searched high and low for a few years now I've yet to find any places.

I would be open to the idea. There's a place nearby where I live that is apparently a really nice spot. I haven't been though.

You know, I personally refuse to go to a "clothed beach". Just a matter of taste, I guess. But I used to be dead against nudism - that is until I first tried it! There is, in modern society, not another single form of freedom outdoors. it is immensely liberating. Not for everyone's taste - understandably - but I personally think that everybody should try it once...

I wouldn't consider myself a nudist, but I do enjoy walking around naked at home (when I don't live with roommates) and I've enjoyed visiting a local area that is clothing optional. This rural, lake area is not strictly a nudist camp ... the clothing optional status means that lots of different groups will book it for meetings: wiccans, gay male groups, alternative sexual groups, etc. So, at any given time once someone discovers it's existence and if they like it, you never know who you're going to run into.

Personally, I wouldn't want to live a nudist "lifestyle" but I have no problem being nude in such a place, even with my SO. One time, I even took one for the team when a gay man was openly oggling my male companion and the man finally asked him to oil his back. Well, technically, he asked both of us but since he was completely ignoring me .... Anyway, my friend bolted for the port-o-potty and I ended up with oily hands. LOL

As for the pervs, yeah, there have been some of those but most of the poeple have tended to either keep to themselves or be friendly in a non-creepy way. I will admit that one time I was out there when someone had their kids out there and i wasn't as comfortable with that. Not because anyone was having public sex by the lake, but just that I thought one of the children was too old for it and way more prudish when it comes to children. Note, I've never seen anyone having sex at this place nor have I ever had sex out there. That would requite more privacy for me. ;)

I don't know about living a nudist lifestyle.....I gotta go to work everday. My customers wouldn't understand. No pockets to hold my business cards!

But seriously, I think a nude or clothing optional beach would be cool to try. The idea of walking onto the beach, stripping off the clothes and jumping in the water is very appealing. Then let the sun dry you off, get dressed and drive home without a soggy bathing suit still on.

Ironically it costs a lot of money for me to go to a nudist camp because the closest ones to me are about a 2 hour drive away. I spend a lot of money & time gathering my supplies so I won't have to waste time leaving the camp once I get there. Not to mention association dues to get camp "discounts" and receive their publications. Then you pay admission fees, cabin rental, activity fees, etc. So I haven't been to a camp for almost 4 years. Unfortunately I don't live near a nude beach where it's free of charge.

I don't see why the fuss over nudism. If we had more of it, a lot of taboos in society would be broken down. I like to be naked as often as I can, but I do realise the necessity of clothes, and I also take a good deal of care over the clothes I wear.

I would, howevfer, like to be naked as often as possible though

Nudism is not a problem for me I have visited nudist resorts and when I go on holiday I do visit nude beaches if there is one around. Nudism is not about sexuality its just the lack of clothes and it is true that in on a nude beach or resort the people who get the most looks are the ones who wear a bikini or something else to cover up.

On another front I have noticed that when I am on a normal clothed beach young girls get a lot of for want of a better word "lecherous" glances where on a nude beach nobody really bothers maybe its something to do with all organisations that I looked into encourage a wholesome family atmosphere and discourage single people.

I would enjoy the opportunity to meet a woman who was comfortable in her own skin and who would be comfortable being nude in a social or private environment. I joined POF with hopes of finding such a woman but have found the pickings to be a big fat zero!

I love skinny dipping, nude hikes along a mountain trail or simply sunning on a big blanket in the woods. I wouldn't expect to convert a woman to become a full time nudist as I'm not either but I would enjoy the opportunity to share these moments with a woman who also loved the feel of the sun and wind on her body, and enjoy nature together without any hangups.

I would like to try a nude beach- have heard there is one in southern CA, probably a lot more than I know of. I did it once many moons ago near Tahoe- it was cool and not nasty at all.

Naked doesn't bother me at all- people who are critical of others being naked bother me actually. It's hard for me to relax when I'm around people like that. I just feel uncomfortable.

As for having sex out in the open, well- let's save that for another post.
