| Kayaking sounds great!! Posted: 5/14/2007 11:52:09 AM | I love the idea of kayaking as well, Kimmie. I do believe there is a littoral society that hosts a kayak trip monthly in Charlotte County. I'll do some more research on it.
I'm all about the community garden too, Kimmie. As soon as all of my children leave at the end of this week... ... we can discuss logistics. One herb that I know grows well in this climate it basil; I believe zucchini grows well too. I'm looking forward to working with you on this project.

| Nothing finer than growing your own vegi's Posted: 5/15/2007 3:46:17 AM | By using the container gardening method, we can control the soil, this will allow us to grow a larger variety of vegi's. Speaking of "controlling the soil"-I actual have a coffee can I use for compost, in the kitchen, and then transfer to 5 gallon buckets outside. If anyone wants to start composting to donate, that would be great. I'll take a sample of the water, here at the house ,to be tested so we will know if we need to "balance" soil to be compatable -Acid/alkeline-etc. I love the zuccini idea.
In Oklahoma I had 5 gallon- paint cans, placed in front of a trellis, beside my RV. You can grow, cucumbers, zuccini, and yellow squash on a trellis, to control the vines from taking over a large area. As the vines mature and blooms turn to vegis, you can take old stockings (not the garter belt-just the stockings), and make a sling around the vegi to support it as it grows. It will get sunlight, and rain, thru the stocking and it creates an interesting privacy screen full of blooms, big leaves and Vegi's as your reward.
I'm all for the Basil....can anyone say Pesto!! Ahhh the dinners we will have at the end of the growing season, will truely be grand!!! Join in people, getting your hand in the dirt is actually very enjoyable.
I s anyone planning on going Riding on Wed? Sign up, Ya'll Kimmie

| run a muck party Posted: 5/18/2007 9:57:05 AM | Bruce, Thank You for posting info on Run-a-Muck, yet let me ask you 1) is there music tonight? Friday? If so who, and what time? 2)Sat. what time are gates opened? 3)Sun you said they have a "church service", what time? Jerry and I might be able to make it tonight, if we knew more about entertainment-if there is any!!
Sat night we will be heading to the Devil Rays game, anyone wanting to go and meet us we will be sitting in the "upper Deck" section 310/row A. We have extra tickets-if anyone wants to meet us and sit with us.
Bylle, Ron, Karen...Are the "fishermen/and Mermaids" going to be on the Pier this week-end, Fishing? Is it "the pier"-in Venice? Can anyone join you?
BluesLady are you playing on Sunday? I'll have to check "old Posts" for location-unless someone wants to "re-post it" for me!!
Anything else going on this weekend we should know about??
Laurene, what is the Ambassador of Fun doing this weekend??
Lynda, have your family all headed back home? Are you ready to "come out and play" with the rest of us?? I'm looking forward to hearing all about the visit!(and seeing pictures of the christening, and Disney world trip!!
Hazeleyedgirl(Kathy), what is going on in Ft. Myers area??? Is Tony behaving?
What is the "Emporor (Dennis) up to?
I have met a new friend on another site-who would like to go HORSEBACK RIDING. Does anyone know a place close to Charlotte County where we can put toghether a trail ride? Or is there anyone who has horses, and would like to have a half dozen guests to come out to their ranch, we could bring the fixin's and have a BBQ-or picnic, while you "introduce" this new friend to horses? I said something about getting better at horseback riding, -an interest in horseback riding was on her profile. She wrote back saying she had NEVER been. So now I'm on another mission, any help will be appreciated. I'll post who the Lady is "after getting her permission" she lives-just north of us here!!
Well, viewers!! I hope you will write in, love ya'll ....................... Kimmie

| run a muck party Posted: 5/18/2007 10:26:23 AM | Hey Kimmie, Karen and I are going to Run a muck to see Stonewall play Sat
Sun I have to be to work at 6:00 pm working a 12 hour shift, but still going to try to see Blueslady play for a bit.
from PG go 41 north to 776 turn right it's the Frosted Mug in El Jobean on the left just before you go over the bridge
|
| run a muck party Posted: 5/18/2007 10:50:47 AM | Ron, thanks for the directions. Can you believe I still haven't met Karen(Blueslady), we have E-mailed about Bible Studies, Luau decorations, and private parties, yet still haven't met!! I would love to join you all on Sunday to hear her play. What time? I don't know where "776" is, or "El Jobean", since I'm new to Charlotte Co. Yet Jerry will know exactly where you are talking about. I worked at a restaurant in St. Augustine, that was on old converted gas station, it had those high windows in what was once the bays. Thru the windows you could see the Cross in the sky from where the "Fountain of Youth" is located. The owner was from Washington DC, and knew some very powerful people, we never knew who would be there on any given night. The reason I mention it was that it was a Blues/Jazz club. There was only one seating for dinner and the guests would stay all night to listen to the music. It was a wonderful job, to get paid to listen to all that great music. I've lived a full life and music is one of the great treasures I'll always carry with me!! Three cheers for Blueslady!!!! Love, ya'll.......Kimmie | |

| Run A Muck Party and Kayaking Information Posted: 5/21/2007 6:39:55 AM | Had a really good time at Run A Muck this weekend and met some new fun people. Stonewall was GREAT and the other activities and entertainment were "interesting" to say the least. Thank you, Bruce, for inviting me to this fun event and introducing me to your friends.
Ms. Kimmie, I got a call from "Sunni" (hope I got the spelling correct on that) and she shared information with me regarding a kayaking demonstration. Economy Tackle will host the demo on Saturday, June 2nd, 11 am - 2 pm, at Ackerman Park in Sarasota. All you need to bring is suncreen and sun glasses (hats and water shoes for those who prefer those items as well). The kayaks are already in the water just waiting for you to take a paddle around the lake. You can call Economy Tackle at (941) 922-9671 for mor information.

| Run A Muck Party and Kayaking Information Posted: 5/21/2007 9:55:28 AM | Sunni, and Lynda thank you for the info on the KAYAKING. It would be alot of fun to meet together as a group and experience learning-and doing something new, together!!
Speaking of "new things"...I took Jerry, his 2 teenage daughters, their friend and my 9yr old grandson to their first DEVIL RAYS GAME Sat night. The Rays lost, yet you wouldn't have known it to be true had you heard the four kids on their cell phones while we drove home. The excitment of meeting players, pitching and batting cages, watching the mascots and the cheerleaders act up and my favorite part of any live sporting event is standing in a crowd that large and hearing the National Anthemum ring out....we truly are a "blessed Nation"! It's not the winning or loosing of the game it is the experience of attending the game -for me anyways! Ron the CUBS will play the Marlins (in Miami-Dolphin Stadium) Sept. 25th(tues),26, and 27th. Anyone up for a roadtrip-to support Ron's favorite team?
What teams do you all like to watch play? I am very willing to go to a game with guests who are cheering for the opposing team....it's all in good fun!! This week it is Seattle. next week Detroit, June 1st Kansas City, then San Diego mid June.
I'm glad to hear Run-a-Muck was a success, Bruce are you up for HARLEY RIDE NIGHT on Wed.? I think it was a great idea you had for POF'ers to join in on the rides already established by ABATE. anyone who hasn't joined in yet that is interested in more details please contact Bruce(Bikerguy).
Karen(Blueslady), Thank You for a relaxing afternoon on Sunday. You keep a crowd happy with your singing voice, and your banter between songs is uplifting. Jerry and I will be back to see you again. I am pleased to have the chance to finally meet you.
Karen is performing Sunday afternoons, from 3-6, at the FROSTY MUG in El Jobean, located on SR 776. I reccommend you go see her...It's a comfortable, way to wind down the weekend.
We are less than a week away from The Toga party at the Slip Knot, Our Ambassador of Fun will be sure to make it a great party!! Laurene didn't get the title of Ambassador of Fun for nothing. Hope to see you all there!!!

| Toga Party Slip Knot/Punta Gorda Posted: 5/22/2007 9:03:59 AM | Hello everyone, I hope you will all consider joining Plenty of Fishs' Dancing/Party crowd that meets the last Sat of every month at the Slip Knot, in Punta Gorda. I first became involved with this wonderful bunch, when Hazeleyedgal(Kathy), had a Halloween party in North Ft Myers, last fall. Now, just six months later I have met some of the most interesting, outgoing, focused singles in the SW Florida area.
The monthly dinners and parties are a wonderful place to meet POF members face to face, in a social "no-pressure" setting. Making friends with a handful of people, both men and women, will increase your social opportunities, and bring you closer to meeting the person you joined this dating service to meet.
Jerry and I met each other on line, and now, together, we are developing friendships with other POF members, and having a great time.
If you don't feel comfortable coming to a party alone, E-mail me (screen name, is my name- Kim Shea).I'll make arrangements to meet you, and you can come to the dinner and party with Jerry and I
I look forward to again, meeting new people...........God Bless You all, Kimmie!!

| It's Thurs... 25cent wings at Chubbyz/Port Charlotte Posted: 5/24/2007 12:16:54 PM | Thur???Already!!! I can taste the wings from here!! Anyone going??? Last week I received two diffrent E-mails on Fri. from people who had gone to Chubbyz, and said "No-one from POF was there!! Jerry and I were at his daughters' High School Graduation, and unfortunately weren't there to Greet others. Please understand that this is not a"POF-party" - where you will be able to identify other POF'ers by the "Name Tags they are wearing". You will have to POST on this site, or E-mail other members, to ask them to meet you-or you could be sitting at a table alone, wondering who else is with POF.
By 6/6:30/7pm diffrent POF Members will trickle into the parking lot. There is an outside Deck area in front of the building, where the Harley Riders from POF, usually hang out, and others can be found inside. It is a comfortable and casual place to get a bite to eat, or to have a drink. The staff are acommodating, and the varity of sauces applied to the wings can satisfy just about everyone.
Hope to see you there!! Jerry and I will hopefully be there around 6:30,depending on when he gets home from work!! Love ya'll, ...............................Kimmie
Vetmanager, Laurene, invited me to join her, and some other POF'ers there one Thurs. evening and I enjoyed the evening so I have suggested it as a fun place for some of us to get together regularly.

| Laurene's Farewell Posted: 5/27/2007 6:49:54 AM | Laurenes Farewell party Last nightat at the Slip Knot in Punta Gorda was a good time for all who attended. There is another party tonight in Sarasota at the Cay Club.. You will see it posted on the top of the "Inbox" page. I believe it says SARASOTA/BRADENTON/VENICE PARTY MAY 27TH. It should be another great party to attend.
Junes monthly party will be a "Country Western Dance" at the Slip Knot(inside) on Saturday June 30th. I will create the Post in the next few days.
I hope everyone has a restful-or funfilled-day off Tommorrow. God Bless our Armed Forces. Love ya'll.......................................Kimmie

|
| Laurene's Farewell Posted: 5/30/2007 2:41:24 AM | Wed already!! HARLEY RIDE NIGHT!! Bruce, are you back to regular schedule yet-or is it next week? Hey Bylle, Yes we are looking forward to fishing Sat. Evening?? Right??
Sunni, Lynda, are you both planning on attending the Kayak demonstrations Sat Am?
I'm interested in joining you two-not sure about Jerry yet, I'll ask him today! Swede, Ron, Mrmzee, are you all going to Chubbyz Tommorrow for "25Cent wings Nite"? We'll be there, if Jerry doesn't have to work too late-He put in 13hrs yesterday!
We are getting a group together to go to the Devil Rays/New York Yankees game on Sat. July 14(7pm). POR-Family night. We took Jerry 2 teenage Daughters, and friends to the Marlins game and they had a blast. Anyone know of events coming up, please take a moment to post them. And for those of you who"don't write in on Forums-yet read them...", you can send me an E-mail on this service, and I will post it for you!! Bye for now, ...Kimmie
|
| Party Pics Posted: 5/30/2007 2:49:40 AM | Bryce(Swede), in answer to your E-mail..."Have I posted the Party Pics, for Laurene's Farewell Party" I was not the Hostess of this Party. I was for the Luau-so I was able to post on that one -after Laurene authorised me to do it. I believe only the Hostess can set up the "After the Party Pics"Thread. We will have to find out from Laurene, if she is going to be setting it up, and if not, if we can "get it set up" without her having to do "one more thing for the group!!"
You can all E-Mail her and let her know you would like to see the pics. Kimmie

| Party Pics Posted: 5/30/2007 1:21:27 PM | Hey Kimmie---here's the info on the kayaking demo for this saturday :
Weather is warming up, even more reason to be on the water. Whether you are on a sit on top or a sit-in, it's a great way to cool off! This weekend is the time to find out at no-charge, do I want to look further into kayaking? You already have some interest, because you gave one of our staff your e-mail address. So take it a little further and try out some kayaks! This weekend, at Ackerman Park, we will have a knowledgable staff along with 30 kayaks for your paddling pleasure. There will be kayaks for the beginner, as I was 11 years ago. There will be kayaks for those looking to take the kids for a paddle, kayaks for kids, and those thinking about a longer, narrower kayak... we will have them there. Also, while you are there, do check out the Hobie Mirage pedal kayak series, it will amaze you. No, we have not forgottern you folks that want to fish, we will have a large variety awaiting you. To get to Ackerman Park, go to Fruitville Rd and I-75 and go 4/10's of a mile east of I-75. You will approach Coburn Rd at a traffic light and you will turn right and go 6/10's of a mile and the lake is on the right. Apparel for the day is a shirt, shorts, and some type of water shoe. Also, bring water to drink. You will get to try out 30 different kayaks from 11 till 2pm. Reservations are not needed, but if you have questions call us at 941-922-9671. Don't miss out on this, the biggest demo this month.
