| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/16/2007 9:08:47 AM | Great thread and some very interesting thoughts.
I am often told that I look and act much younger than my actual age and yestday I turned 51. I view the world with the excitement and wide eye wonder of a child and believe my inner child is 12 as that was the most exciting time in my life and I have always loved how that life enjoyment felt. I find dating a bit of a challenge as my dating age limits are +/- 10 years. I have met many men in this group that were old for their age. Finding the right man who also embraces and enjoys live , shares some similar interests and lifestyles, - in addition to one of us not looking like the others child, sibling or parent is also an issue. I am blessed with friends who's ages span many different decades and all is good.

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/16/2007 9:13:12 AM | | No one ever guesses my real age. They usually think I am about 10 or more years younger. I have 3 younger sisters and people tend to think I'm one of the younger ones. I have always acted young for my age and gotten along better with people older or younger than me. I seem to attract younger men too. Some of them had a certain age limit in their profile and I was above that and they sent me a message anyway. I am not delusional. I have looked and acted younger for a very long time. This is just the way I am. | |

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/16/2007 9:42:30 AM | I am a Security Officer on one of the area Casinos. So because I have to Card people that look under thirty-five. I am amazed every day how young people look for there age. One thing that I never could understand though is this..... So many people get mad I mean they get quite upset because I card them! I tell them.... hey, look on the bright side. Obviously you look young and this in itself should be a compliment. I have people guess me to be anywhere from thirty seven to forty three. When in fact.... I am forty nine and very soon to be fifty. I feel like I am still in my late twenties. I am very active and full of energy. I actually don't feel or think I look any where near fifty! One side line here is... I do seem to attract more men in their thirtys for some reason.... when all I would really like to attract is someone in their forties. | |

Baby_Phat_4U on 5/9/2007 10 51 PM Subject: how old you are vs how old you look/act Message: I will be 41 my birthday in November but honestly I find my age group of women,( just my experience so dont get ur panties in a bunch) ..but I find my age group to be Either old, or old trying to act young,..its blantly obivious and embarassing.. I fit in much better with late 20s and mid 30S group..just because they have the spunk and energy i have,..and I tend to enjoy that age group..I however prefer dating men my age or older..Just like the sexy look of older guys..however that age group has alot of penile problems..( 40 plus group)..now dont get ur balls all up in Knots..i realize im generalizing here..not every woman over forty acts old or obivios or every guy over 40 has errection problems...Its just my experience..
No panties in a knot over here ....BUT I cannot be the only reading parts of your post and then looking at your profile and pics without thinking WTF ?? .....
I would hope all women embrace their age bodies and beauty with out judgement from them selves much less others. Age has Di*k all to do with it . I think your post could have been a little more sensitive to women and men as a whole. there was a little to much look at me in your post and thats a bit of a red flag ...maybe try to look within more
OP >> this was a fun thread to start because I think everyone will agree that we do not act our ages nor do we always want to.....age is elusive and really not relevant to where you are in your life , spititual journey or understanding of yourself.....
Whether you look your age or not or how you look at all is a ridicoulous thing to hang your hat on....it's superficial and life is to short

And this morning, when I checked the mirror: sure enough -- there I was: a 66-year old woman. With a sty no less. Ya'll prolly don't get sties, do you? As young as ya'll look, act, and feel. . . . .

I like that I am holding up well but I also wish I attracted my own "kind" I dont like being approached by the 20somethings. I always want to ask them what do they want to be when they grow up.

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/17/2007 4:01:47 PM | I'm 37, and get told I look my age, but my best friend says I have Peter Pan syndrome. She's 35 now, and she still gets ID'd, and when she was 27, she was refused entry to a bar, because the barman told her she looked 14. As for me, I get on with everyone from 8-80. I have some people I know who are teenagers, some in their 20s, some in their 30s, some in their 40s, and others who are 82. I just get on with people. My only exception is the young people who can do the chit-chat, and the drinking, and pulling, but cannot hold a conversation, cannot enjoy a fine liqueur, and don't really enjoy dancing. I find that I have nothing to talk about with them. As to who is attracted to me: when I was in my 20s, it was women from 16-44. Now, I'm not sure. But I know I've had a 41-year old woman proposition me, a 55-year old woman (I think) ask me to live with her, and a 16-year old woman (I think) ask me to join her and her friends for dinner. When I start dating a lot, I'll probably know better. | |

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/17/2007 4:20:39 PM | A group of freinds and I had a discussion a while back and it was generally, and I emphasise generally agreed that men hold their age better than women. Dont know that I entirely agee with that, but even most of the women in the company thought so.
People who look younger than their years probably do attract younger people. I agree that mental age is the most important thing.

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/17/2007 4:55:19 PM | I'm 53 and often people call and say ,Hello can I talk to your mom....Freaks me out!!! I've been asked out by men from 30 to 80 LOL and have said a polite no Thanks to both...I'm most confortable with someone in my age range....But I don't think dating someone younger or older than yourself is wrong....Everyone has their own preference and should always go by what makes them happy | |

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/17/2007 5:08:36 PM | | I think I behave in a young fashion but find many women partivularly in the uk that lie asbout their ages to the extent of at least 10 years. I wouldnt ever I am way too honest. | |

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/17/2007 5:35:55 PM | I agree also. I am approached by men younger , 5 to 10 years younger. At first, I was wondering if it was a vibe I was sending. Then I realized its how I am projecting myself. Fun, youthful . However I was turned down by a 26 year old who told me his cut off was the age of 29. He wasn't playing our game. | |

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/17/2007 6:54:39 PM | I'm 50. I look older because I have been a cigarette smoker since I was 12.
If I should be lucky enough to come across someone who offers me a toke - I'm living on a low income that takes cares of my needs but not always my wants - I sometimes choke like I'm in my 90's and on my last breath.
Answering ''how old do I act" requires far to much semantics for this post. It's like when Bill Clinton was asked if he'd had sexual relations with 'that' woman? I can bring you a roomful of people who will glowingly attest to my character. I can also bring you a roomful of people who aren't in as good a mood (not by a longhot) and want to talk to you first.

Now excuse me, gotta go chase that bright illusive butterfly of youth. . . . .

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/18/2007 1:35:15 AM | I think sometimes our work situation can alter our age perception. I seem to remember feeling much older in my 40's when I was in management. I had to adopt an adult behaviour to give off an authoritative and confident vibe!!!!
As a 62 year old retired granny.... I can now have fun time with my grand daughter and 'feel' younger than I can ever remember
........... not to mention, I don't have a 'peer' telling me what I should be acting like !!!!!
I drive a pink jeep and just enjoy living !!!!!
............. but then again I am an old 'hippy chick'

We can't always be the same All the time. We need those different feelings. they're a part of us as an individual: it's the human race; we would all be the same if there was only one emotion ,,, how boring is That .. ( :-) . just be yourself is my best medicine
cheers (:-) | |

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/18/2007 6:51:46 AM | I'm 32 and got carded for cigarettes a little before my recent birthday. Both my parents look young for their age and I got a double whammy of it I think. I look around 10 years younger to most I think.
Sorry, no current pics up. They keep getting deleted due to being too dark I think.

| how old you are vs how old you look/act Posted: 5/18/2007 7:24:36 AM | | How old you feel, look and act are more important than your age according to your birth certificate. If you look, act and feel a certain age, odds are you'll want to associate and will relate best to, people of that age group. | |
