How did you discover POF
A friend recommended this site to me, she also recommended another dating site, that she uses, but unlike this one, its popularity was more sexually obsessed, with your popularity being rated by how many adult pictures you had on your profile, which was not for me.
what was it that made you join
Like many others, loneliness, and the search for love, however I have learnt that Internet Dating can have its darkside, and although I am a man, I still have emotions and feelings, so now I stay for the forums, which I enjoy greatly. | |

Posted: 5/16/2007 3:19:36 AM | I joined a couple of years back but never really used it (cannot even remember my screen name then lol), then came across an advert on another site back in November, so thought I'd give it a go again.
Not looked back since, I've met some wonderful friends now through going to the meets and I enjoy reading the posts and occassionally adding my bit lol | |

Anyway a guy who was on there told me about this place, so i joined up.
I joined because i work in a female dominated job, hardly ever see any available men.
Got sick of meeting men when i was out on the piss, so thought I'd give this place a go.
The forums have been my main reason for staying on here, although it's not what it use to be a couple of years ago. Although i can still have a laugh. So it's alright really.
Just can't get on as much as usual, as work is kinda taking top priority at the moment. | |

Why? I lost touch with a lot of my friends over the years as they settled down, had families & I didn't. I then moved to a different city (OK, it's only about 10 miles away but I may as well have moved to another country the way some of the people I knew went on). But this site in particular? I got sick of paying over a fiver to read messages from people, some of whom never replied to my reply. | |

Posted: 5/16/2007 11:34:10 AM | A friend told me to join as this site got through alot of works security systems so we all initially used it to chat to each other while working....that was a couple of years ago, then i left, this was banned at most of my friends work too so they left.
But i had got chatting to a few nice people here and came back to see if any were still here....i like chatting to new people, the forums are alright ( sometimes) but i dont use it as a dating site....will i be lynched now?  | |

Posted: 5/16/2007 11:35:37 AM | I joined from an Internet cafe next to where I used to work.The main reason for doing so was to try and find someone to spend some quality time with,have a laugh and maybe develop something "Meaningful" and long lasting.Failing that make a friend or two along the way.
I must have been in one of my optomistic moods that day.Either that or I was blind drunk!

I like to read what people write and how they put it  ; problems discussed here are lots better than any Agony Aunt's articles; one doesn't always put a handkerchief in front of their mouth when clarifying or justifying ... and my inquisitive mind thrives in this virtual word. I would lie if I said that a tiny hope of finding the one was not attached to my wishful thinking when logging in.

Posted: 5/17/2007 1:27:36 PM | I bought this PC July 2005 and taught myself how to use it. I'd never used a computer before.
I searched for free dating websites and found this one, and joined because I wanted to see what other people were talking about. They did this, and I hadnt.
I met someone, deleted profile, then we finished, and I rejoined in February 2007.
I rejoined because all my friends are in Relationships, and Im stuck at home most nights after work, and its much better to have people to chat to than climb the walls.
Like everyone else, I secretly hope to meet someone, but I remain realistic, and know I may not. I love to hear when someone gets lucky though. | |

Was only looking and reading the forums fdto start with then added a profile in the summer that I later deleted Added my new profile in Dec but havnt really been active until this year. It's a shame only about 50% of people on here are seemingly courteous enough to bother with communicating, and that the website takes no account of geographical features of the country (like the Bristol Channel LOL!) when you are performing a search with mileage criteria!
Other than those points it's great for something which is free (well almost free if you discount the advertising banners and adverts anyway...) | |

Both share the same problem though, ladies view you and dont write at all, perhaps someone should mention to them that its 2007 ,they can vote, they are no longer tied to a kitchen sink and also they can send messages to men first instead of just waiting.
Initially looked for just friends but was told to change that after a profile review.
Hoping for a brighter future as part of Pof.................if not, its time to read the forum history lol
