Posted: 7/14/2009 2:55:23 AM | Ok so I made a jokey response to this question a couple of days ago but I joined to date. Simple. I do wonder about some of the people here though and what they are doing here. Some of the truly offensive and unpleasent messages i receive beggar belief and i cant understand the motivation behind them. These men are here to meet someone and yet they send out messages that are insulting and abusive like the one i got this morning. Surely if someone is not your type or you find them unattractive you would just move on from their profile wouldnt you? Why are these type of men here? To provoke a reaction i suppose. Not singling out the men here, maybe women do this too but i only have experience of the guys. This is why my status is "not looking" but unfortunately these men are "not looking" that hard at the words in front of them to notice that!  | |

Well, those messages do not come from intelligent, happy, well-adjusted people. I suspect the writer is wanting to lash due to their personal failings. The logic behind them is possibly non-existent, as it it more likely the angry ranting of someone who would go and kick their dog after a bad day at work. It is unfortunate that we can't delete them before we read them as they do tend to leave one feeling sour for a while, and it is the sort of thing that feeds my misanthropy. | |

Posted: 7/14/2009 6:05:56 AM | I joined POF 3 years ago after being binned by a fella i was mad for ~ a knee jerk join for me.
The reason i joined is that being a single mom it was hard for me to get out frequantly and when i did manage a night out meeting guys was impossible as everyone out was young enough to be my son!
Have to admit that i was really dissappointed by the talent on offer to me via POF but stayed for the forum fun and giggles which trust me there were plenty of 3 years ago, now rarely use the site as i tired of the forum nazis. | |

Posted: 7/14/2009 7:38:07 AM | In all seriousness (a departure from my original message in this thread) I joined this site with the intention of messaging lots of people with the intention annoying or amusing them, in order to make some good friends!
However, a strange thing occurred in that I found myself reluctant to message anyone first - I seem to suffer from first move syndrome. After all someone has to make the first move and I was suddnely like "hey, maybe i'll let people message me instead - that way I don't seem like a total stalker!"
Suffice to say things have moooooooved sloooooooooowly in the whole chit chat department  But I remain optimistic that numerous blows to my head will shake me out of my....erm....what's the word I should use here.......malaise? Is that right? Malaise? Yer why not! Malaise!
