| Words And Phrases That I Despise !! Posted: 5/19/2007 2:29:45 PM | I think Ywngie Malmsteen is a guitard.
Oh, I hate this one:
"I'm not a doctor, but I play one on tv"
a lot of times, it will just be the second part of the sentence applied to any occupation.
"Are you an engineer ?"
"No, but I play one on tv"
Good one, dork. | |

| Words And Phrases That I Despise !! Posted: 5/20/2007 6:39:13 AM | HELLS YEAH !! or of course its polar opposite HELLS NO !!!
That reminds me of a question George Carlin asked:
What is the plural of "a hell of a guy"? "Hells of guys"?

| Words And Phrases That I Despise !! Posted: 5/20/2007 9:30:45 AM | One word that drives me crazy is "irregardless". Not actually a word, but a lot of people use it.
Another one that bothers me is "reiterate". To iterate is to state repeatedly, so what the heck is to reiterate? To state repeatedly, plus one?

| Words And Phrases That I Despise !! Posted: 5/21/2007 8:02:02 PM | There's nothing worse than hearing someone in a management position use the term 'conversate'. MANAGEMENT? I suppose it's "okee dockey" if they use the term while wearing a paper hat?
I'm not trying to hurt anyone. I'm sorry if I offended you. Just take it easy on me, I'm not a total jerk just because I said the word 'tard'.
Although I do understand the nature of your unrelenting assault on over used and often corny phraseology, and I appreciate your (albeit cursory) apology to the folks who were offended by your coarse use of the term "tard" however I MUST point out ... DUDE! you sure are quick to tell everyone take it easy on YOU ...he he he ...you rant in the "humor" section then throw yourself on the mercy of the offended?
how bout this phrase?
"grow up!" | |

| Words And Phrases That I Despise !! Posted: 5/23/2007 7:57:36 AM | "like", as in ... "she was, like, looking at me and I was, like, hey she's, like, pretty hot." I have to interview people every day in my line of work and you'd be amazed how often the word "like" is used nowadays. It's become the 21st century's "you know" (or in the case of Canadians, the 21st century's "eh"). Kids, especially young women (but certainly not exclusively girls), can't seem to get through a sentence without saying "like".
A phrase that's just plain stupid: "She's all that and a bag of chips"

You can replace 'bag of chips' with anything and have a new phrase...it's really a formula.
(ex: 'She's all that and and a side of fries', 'she's all that and a muffin')

| Words And Phrases That I Despise !! Posted: 5/23/2007 3:37:53 PM | "Thinking outside the box" --by saying you're "thinking outside the box," you're really not because the phrase is so trite.
"New and improved"--if something is new, it cannot be improved; similarly, if something is improved, it cannot be new.

(ex: 'He's a couple cards short of a deck'.....'He's a couple cans short of a six-pack')

| Words And Phrases That I Despise !! Posted: 5/27/2007 6:57:32 AM | | Beep beep. A nauseating term which has apparently replaced "Excuse me" or "gangway"; uttered by someone when someone else is in their path. | |
