Seems few really care what the breasts were intended for initially <div class="quote"> Indeed the boobies initial invention is for nursing. And no you don't see Mr Bull jumping Ms Holstein having his front hooves at her uddies, do ya?? However the secondary function is as an erogenous zone, both visual and physical. Or don’t y’all feel anything when touched??? Or why have all the fashionable display enhancements??? Hellooooooooo As many pointed out before the secondary part of the female multi tasking breasts is for DISPLAY and STIMULOUS of what during out evolution has obviously evolved into a secondary sexual organ. Mens instincts are to focus on these wonders of nature as part of their selection for a suitable mate who can ensure the survival of their offspring. K, enuff dry stuff, no fun in this. Every one seems to know that too, why else all the whoopla about the boobies??? MHO tan ‘em if you like , keep ‘em hidden for their seductive powers.I ove 'em Blush

My point is that, if breasts are out in the open then they become more accepted and not a 'naughty' thing to look at. Once we try to cover them up and hide them, then they become a taboo thing.
I would have to agree with Augiedougie. Went to Wreck Beach for my first time last summer and I thought it was great (except for the climb back up.......lol). I've always loved sunbathing nude in private (hate tan lines), but I was surprised how comfortable I felt and how family oriented Wreck Beach was (granted children were quite young, probably under six).
As for men being able to bare their chests, while women are supposed to be covered......this has always been a pet peeve of mine.......so not fair!

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/12/2007 12:26:32 AM | If memory serves me correctly ( I might not have my facts completely straight) an Ontario(?) court ruled that women could indeed walk the streets topless should they so desire. It may have been contested on a national level as referred to by an earlier post.
While I agree that to ban such activity could be met viewed as sexist, the root of the problem remains a carefully marketed sexualization of women that has been a mainstay of marketing.
Let them all hang out ladies, but don't for a minute believe the rest of the population are enlightened enough to view your actions with respect and courtesy. While you may find a more polite response in an area designated for nudity, a woman bare-breasted in public would need to be comfortable with her body image and have a strength of character resilient enough to take the brunt of ignorance she will no doubt encounter.

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/12/2007 2:13:53 AM | Sheesh, all this fuzz, Really ladies, think!!! The more you show them off the less interest the boys will have. It’ll become nothing to look at or think about – sheesh just hate to see that happen!
Women’s lib, (huh) what about men’s lib? Maybe we should ask the courts permission to bear uncovered our male pride and joy , testies dangling, in public. Wooooooheee there’ll be a lot of red faces then, and hairstylists and cosmetic surgeons will have a heyday –payday... can just imagine at the board room meeting - the silicone babe handing out the documents- everyone stands in attention - geeh wiz Joe, thought you were bigger than that...
Really people, love, sex and our bodies are something very special to cherish, keeping some of it private make the whole thing more exiting ?
Agree with you diogi, the issue is a two sided blade. And BTW ladies you don’t see too many men sitting around bare chested in everyday life. Granted some guys at the beach should wear a double D cover. IMHO I don’t particularly find such appearance appealing, natural yes, appealing not. While a young body, male or female is aesthetically attractive to all of us, as nature takes its course it just doesn’t anymore, or am I missing something? Nothing wrong with that. It is the way it is. Why not maintain some dignity. If you are comfortable with your looks wear nothing at all at the beach, no objections here, just don't fuzz over it and don’t complain if you get unwanted attention.

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/12/2007 10:53:50 AM | If you wanna go topless, just go to Wreck Beach.
I'm all for it, but when there is children around I don't think it's appropriate. And at most of the regular beaches theres tons of kids.

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/12/2007 12:37:25 PM | Reading these replies kinda makes laugh. We should all re-read them and then understand that our replies here are a result of our upbringing. What we have been told, what we read, what our laws say, etc, etc, etc. Responses like "adults only" show our ignorance as a society. If we were born and raised in a different society,,,our replies would be different,,,,but guess what??? Pretty sure our bodies would be the same. As animals, there are certain things our bodies do to attract a mate. As we age,,,,,,there are a lot of things that happen that make our bodies repel. Thus the need nowadays for plastic surgeons. Either/or, to each their own. If you want them doing what they want to do "naturally", carry on, but from what I have been told, some may not find it sooooo comfortable. Of course looks sometimes come first before comfort in some circles. | |

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/12/2007 7:22:09 PM | | That was Linda Myers who got arrested for the toplessness. Anyone in the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area knows of her. However you are right. It is legal to go topless in BC, male or female. | |

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/12/2007 10:29:34 PM | I never been to Wreck beach. I'm new in Vancouver....been here for about a year now. I have couple of friends and they always ask me to come to wreck beach with them in summer. I would try to go there atleast once. Is it ok if a guy show up there fully clothed (pants n t-shirt on). For me clothed or without clothes won't make a difference as I have hair everywhere... .. as a kid I have played out in hot (40+ Celsius) summer days, so my skin is permanently tanned. There the uv rays weren't as strong as here despite the high temperatures there.
On serious note, isn't sunbathing a health risk, especially here in BC.

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/13/2007 12:40:32 AM | if more women went topless on the beaches, then in time less men would oogle.
and most kids really don't care about boobs.

Excuse me, but where have you been for the last 5 years or so, ~Anicca~? It has long been legal for women to go topless in Canada. The Supreme Court changed the public nudity laws, which unfairly discriminated on the basis of gender! I don't remember when, I know for sure it was after 2000, check the Province's archives online, they had a
Actually, it has technically been the law since the Charter of Rights and Freedoms was enacted in the Constitution Act (1982). It was tested in court in 1996 in the Ontario Court of Appeal. Queen vs. Gwen Jacob (1996) and in British Columbia Court of Appeal Maple Ridge v. Meyer (2000).
While it is unusual to see topless women on most public beaches, it is not against the law for them to do so.

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/13/2007 11:44:16 PM | fair is fair.......and i immigrated from europe....,
it is not about what man will think and weather or not they will have less desire for the ladys breasts(due to supply and demand).......it is about accepting our bodies and making the decision to bare or not ourselves.....

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/14/2007 8:21:33 AM | As a Long time member of a nudist club, let me assure you that if you take away the mystery you also take away the interest. There is nothing sexually erotic about merely being nude..unless it is being used for that effect intentionally, by that I mean movement and action. A woman is much more erotic in a pair of heels and a shorter skirt, or a skirt slit high and also showing cleavage..then she ever would be spending hours around you naked. Believe me, when you are surrounded by bare breasts all day..they truly become just 'boobs'. And this is from a self professed breats lover. (Well...actually I am a leg man! But that is another thread.) ;) | |

The second sexiest woman I saw on a topless beach in Europe was the one with her bikini top on. The sexiest was a windsurfer who had peeled her shorty wetsuit off her shoulders and had it dangling around her waist. Ai carumba.
Cheers, Mike (I still remember seeing a woman exercising her rights at Yonge and Dundas in TO one summer)

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/14/2007 12:31:14 PM | My opinion on this....nube beaches are fine. However, they should be designated in certain areas for adults. I dont want my daughters seeing saggy old balls. | |

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/14/2007 3:20:15 PM | | ..i think we as canadians could learn a lot from europe..i'm a regular at wreck beach,i really enjoy the sence of freedom.. | |

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/14/2007 5:08:53 PM | I plan on doing this alot this year. Perhaps even making a few people ill. All in good fun I say. Anyone know of a sunscreen for skin that has never seen the light of day?
I dont want my daughters seeing saggy old balls I'd like to put myself in the category of your daughters please and thanks.

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/14/2007 7:28:29 PM | If we want to enjoy the sun with no freaking tans we should have just as much right as a man does to go bare torso
mmm.. don't know if it is as much as having no tan lines or just to show you can be topless too. We have someone riding around topless on her bike, down the busiest street in town....every single summer, and trust me it is not for the "no tanlines"
Also, just wondering, if the men love it so much... why are they the ones screaming obscenities at her and yell at her to go home and put a top on.....
It just doesn't make sense now does it

| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/14/2007 7:34:01 PM | ^^^^^^^^^ummmm but when that person rides her bike topless its not a nice sight to see her knees hitting her boobs everytime she does one pedal cycle.......

|
| Bare Breasted...on the beach Posted: 5/14/2007 8:08:04 PM | I would...but then again, seeing how I am European, lived there the first 22 years of my life, never really owned a bikini top until moving to Canada (didn't want to get arrested) ..so it's not a big deal.
Having said that, one should understand that there seems to be a different mentality in North America about nudity than in Europe. Over there when we are raised as children, we mainly learn from relativly young ages on that nudity is nudity and sexuality is sexuality, whereas in NA it seems to be a wider spread believe that one equals the other automatically.
It's also a great example with breastfeeding: nowhere in Europe would you see babies half "suffocated" and hidden away under a blanket (lol) just so that their moms can breastfeed them in a public place.
Just my 2 cents worth....
