| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 2:19:40 PM | You know what I don't understand is why can't I get a list of guys 6'2" and over??
I just don't want anyone shorter. I don't need any other reason. End of story. So, why can't I do a search for what I want? Why doesn't the "list of matches" reflect my desired criteria??
Mr/Ms Administrators, please fix this. Having to sort through this attribute profile by profile is just a waste of my time.
Thank you! | |

Rekles? I'm pretty sure I can get a pair of shoes special made so I'm taller than you. :)
Michelle...you CAN search by height. Click on Advanced Search and set your height parameters. Just set the beginning parameter at > 6'2" and the upper one at >7 feet.

| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 2:48:24 PM | This is my viewpoint on all of this. The first part of attraction is the physical that you see. If you can get past that you usually go on to character and attitude. As for myself, I am 5 ft 10 and weigh 160 lbs. I have only very rarely been attracted to ladies over 5 ft tall. The weight is a factor to me but not near as much as height. Weight is a factor to me due to health reasons, I want our relationship to last as long as it can. For me if a lady doesn't consider her body important enough to be healthy what does she consider important? As to why I like petite ladies, I cant answer that any more than I can answer why I wouldn't want to harpoon a beached whale. | |

| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 3:18:03 PM | This is a tough one cause I see your point. Maybe this will help. I PREFER tall men. I'm 5'8" and just like that feeling. However, there are LOTS of tall men out there. His being tall is but one thing in the list of things that *I* am looking for. If I felt men only saw the outer me? then maybe I would feel it was necessary to mention that in my profile as well... but it wouldn't be a preference like height or smoker vs non-smoker... it would be more like a wish. I DO see the irony... but I think you're reading too much into it.
Personally, I don't have any problem clicking off on profiles that say something I don't like... afterall... there's POF in the sea!!

| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 3:19:00 PM | The thing that gets me about the "give me a chance because I'm a great person inside no matter what I look like" stance is this: I have no interest whatsoever in a man dating me because he "really likes my personality" despite having no real physical attraction to me. If a man finds tattoos trashy and a turn-off, why on earth would I want to try dating him, even if he was willing to "look past all that"??? I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a stick. Please, feel free to pass me by and find a woman whose body art is un-offensive LOL. I'll keep on looking for the freaks that think it's sexy, thanks.
If a guy is not attracted to full figured women, he should not pretend that he is. And if a woman is not attracted to guys who are on the shorter side, ditto.
There's a lotttttttttt of people out there to choose from, y'all.

| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 3:22:51 PM | | I know people like that, they have a list a mile long of physical requirements, but expect men to over look theirs. Makes me kind of laugh sometimes, and they wonder why they are single. | |

The puzzling thing is, how can you expect a man, to over come weight issues, when women can barely overcome a man being half a inch shorter then her?
Simple !! Its called "Double Standards"

I think the "full figured" ladies on POF should demand an apology from katiescarlett72 for being compared to short guys. Outrageous!!

Hi Arugula - Thanks for the tip; however, I have tried that before and it has other problems. Basically, Advanced Search is not that advanced. In fact it restricts the search is ways that I would not like to restrict the search.
I just find it frustrating that I keep getting "My NEW Matches" email links that point me to a page that has dozens of great looking guys, where only 5% are in the height criteria that I would like. I have lots of guy friends that are below my 6'2" criteria; however, I would never consider any of them for romance. I'm just not interested in them that way. I am very tall, and the pool is very small for someone my height. I have enough "guy friends". I do not need anymore. It seem like a reasonable and obvious criteria, so again at the risk of repeating myself, WHY CAN'T THEY FIX THIS??

What bothers me, is seeing women who are 5 9 and up, asking for a taller man, but at the same time they want them to see whats on the inside of them, and for them not to be shallow towards there build How about women that are 5.4 asking for men 6ft +? Or even....
I just don't want anyone shorter. I don't need any other reason. End of story.
Nice attitude. The best of luck to you since thats your primary goal.

| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 4:29:50 PM | Ok, I can admit it...I like taller guys. It is totally a physical turn on for me. Long sexy legs just happen to do it for me MMMMM and taller guys give me a feeling of being protected...how cavewoman of me! Does this mean I wont date a shorter guy? Hell no! It is simply a preference. I have dealt with the fact that at (almost) 5'5 I am a tad vertically challenged and will never have legs like a model *sniff*...but I have other nice qualities. You play the cards you are dealt in life... | |

| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 4:30:55 PM | Good post, OP, and I'm guilty as charged. At 5'8, I want a man who is at least 5'11, and taller is better, and I am put off by there being so many men with whom my weight is an issue. Very good post. It's an eye-opener. | |

Something that wont go away any time soon.
I too hate hypocrites, with a passion.

| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 4:41:07 PM | I am 6 feet tall and used to want to always date guys who were taller then me. Unfortunatley finder a taller man was not so easy. But I now am dating a wonderful guy who is only 5 6 and his height was never ever an issue for me. I love him for who is he! | |

| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 5:39:41 PM | I wish I knew, but my contribution is my experience. I met a woman not from here but out there. I saw her, she was[is] gorgeous. I walked up to her [I almost never do this], looked up to her and asked if she would date a guy who was shorter than her. We hung out for a short time [couple weeks] then she ended up with a guy who was just a shade taller than her. What happened? I don't know. | |

One last thing. There are hundreds, thousands of men actively looking and searching for women for every 1(one) woman that is looking. That is one much overlooked reason as to why most women are so picky and choosy, have all these requirements and preferences. Many will have “MUST NOT DO THIS" or "BE THIS" or "MUST NOT DO THAT" or "BE THAT" statements in their profiles.
Fact or opinion or both, you be the judge guys. The word shallow comes up a lot.. maybe its correct but i prefer superficial. If you want a tall guy more than a loving one then you'll probably get what you wish for.. Just make sure that it makes you happy because its not me thats gonna pay the price for that.

| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 6:58:36 PM | Just because what I am about to say is bound to offend some.. This is the MALE hald of NDLT..
I find it amazing how stuck up a lot of the overweight, ugly, multiple children/multiple baby daddy, on social assistance, women are.
They put their list of "You better nots" and and "you better haves" on thier profiles, and then troll the site complaining on how shallow men are.
To me, if you are 2 people, with 4 people towing behind you, and 3 more not supporting them, and living of the system, there isn't going to be a whole lot of people lined up to tap that keg.
There is no point in saying "don't message me if you just wanna have sex' cause thats all your going to get, if you even get that.
Peace.. and hate on me all you want.

| Height/Size Contridiction? Posted: 5/21/2007 7:02:26 PM | Some people are still missing the jist of the OP's question.
It's not about having preferences, or whether they're unrealistic in your opinion (ie a short, average, heavy woman having a preference for a tall man). It about those who are rigid about their own desires and ALSO expect other people (ie certain tall men who they want, but who prefer thin women) to overloook their OWN preferences and go for said short, average, heavy woman's "inner beauty."
Not everyone does this, of course, but he's obviously bumped into a few profiles that say just that. The answer has been given: they're self-absorbed, selfish, deluded hypocrites.
