Here's my rule: normally, I can't take a woman seriously if her tatoos/piercings make her look stupid/trashy/unintelligent/cheap while she's wearing a formal evening dress. Formal events are fun. I like a lady in the street and a freak in the bed, lol!

As an exception, I admire outrageaous tatoos/piercings if (1) I'm in love, or (2) said bodyart is ridiculously cool, no matter what she's wearing. Keep in mind, "ridiculously cool" is difficult to find . . . I think tats from Bangkok and Thailand rise to that level, but we don't see those often . . .

I always find it interseting how so many people choose to be "themselves" by being like so many other people.

I love checking out beautiful tattoos

I see a lot of women where I work with brightly colored hair - makes them look different, not necessarily better

I see where you are coming from, now some people, tattoos are very artistic creative and beautiful, to some they are meaningful, but bro, those guys that get the saying, "stewd, screwed, and tattood" on them, yeah, have a green mohawk, red jeans, and piercings that cover more of their body than their skin does, well, lets face it, those people NEEEED help, something is wrong with their head because they have the need for negative attention. But by no means to I mind a creative girl with multicolored hair and a few pretty tattoos, in fact I think it is a beautiful thing, my only issue is those women are seldom interested in me because I have no tattoos and only my left ear pierced which I really seldom ever wear. ;( But oh well. To the creative women, you know who you are, to the loathsome retards......you know who you are too....and we can tell the difference!

Hummm...??? Tattoo's and body piercing on women? Interesting!
On a personal note...I think tattoo's on women are sexy......IF THEY ARE DISCRETE!
If she is wearing an evening gown and a tattoo can be seen....that's a little tacky. Tattoo's of arrows pointing to certain parts of the body is WAY tacky! Like Duhhhh! You didn't think I knew where that was? When a woman get's tattoo's plastered all over her body...that's where I draw the line in the sand. I want to socialize with a woman....not a comic strip! So....discrete tattoo's on women are sexy and I like them.

BODY PIERCING: Pierced ear lobes are ok with me. Anything else...FORGET IT! All that eyebrow, lip and tongue piercing is primative. When they get piercing in their genital area...they are asking for trouble.

MULTI COLORED HAIR: C'mon folks! Hair isn't blue, green, or orange! Natural color is the best. A little highlighting here and there is ok too. Every time a see an attractive woman with a streak of blue, green, or orange hair my immediate thought is "Is the circus in town....there's a clown!" Please....Ladies.....leave your hair natural!

This is known as "herd mentality". These people are afraid to be individuals, so they act, be, speak and do like everyone else. They "follow the group" like sheep. It's not a big thing though. It's just the way a lot of people are. Afraid to show their individuality. Afraid to be independent from others. Peer pressure rules them.

Here is an interesting (to me at least) way to tweak the conversation:

WHY is hair color so different in your opinion than clothing color? Unlike a tattoo, hair color can be changed relatively frequently and easily. You do have to be a little careful to avoid killing it, but other than that it's pretty flexible.

I'm not aiming at anyone in specific, I just noticed a general approval of tattoos and disapproval of wild hair, so figured I'd ask why. Especially anyone who is ok with tattoos but not wild hair color. What, if you can specify it, is different between the two?

If I may?
Blue, green, orange and fire engine red hair are NOT natural. They are bizarre! I would only expect a circus clown to do this. NOT a normal, rational Human Being. Those who color their hair like that are seeking attention (which is ok, but there are other ways to do that without going overboard!) YES! People who do that DO get noticed, but generally speaking they will get negative thoughts and comments except from others who do the same.

On a personal note.....I prefer women to have the natural look. The look they were given by nature. A couple of discreet tattoo's are ok, but streaks of blue, or green hair turn me off. It's a personal thing with me.

Personally, I prefer diversity of any kind. Can you imagine the world we could create if we accepted all the wonderful diverse souls and their creativity instead of staring at them, passing judgement or just being plain mean spirited? Its kinda like going to the store, if you like fruits and veggies you go to that section and get what you want. Do you put down the people that appreciate a good steak? I think not. Thirty years ago, (oops maybe forty years) the older generation thought that those styles were bizarre and unnatural. Look at us now. Have we really reached a whole different level of acceptance? Just goes to show us we are not as spiritual, loving and kind as we think we are. Lets look at the soul and the true spirit that resides within. Or even better, turn it back on ourselves and ask, "Why can't I accept this person just the way they are?"

I'm cool with just about anything as long as it's tasteful.

Do I have tats? Yes. Are they someplace you can see them at work? No. Facial hair tends to come and go depending on my mood and the feelings of whom I'm with at the time. ;)

The way that society perceives its participants changes like the weather. There will always be some changes. One day it will be fresh, tanned skin and the next pale and tattoed. Tattoos kind of put a date on the persons that wear them. They cant change the social date once they have been applied (Tribal, Sparrows, Stars or wings on ones back). Hair is similiar but different. Today its dark with highlites and tomorrow its blonde with lowlites. Hair comes in three colors (Red, Blonde,Brunette). Adding a little color flavor with something unnatural isn't so bad. As the Earth has more occupants there will always be individuals that feel an inner personal need to say "Hey look at me!" I wont argue with that. Its all part of evolution and our need to have the personal belief that the future would best benifit from more of "ME". Having said that, Dr. Seuss could not have made it any more simple than "The Star Belly Sneetches" Okay.

When I get bored I read alot of these threads, and I have to admit alot of them have me either laughing, confused, or letting out a Grrrr..
But this thread hit home...
Just because "your" personal taste does not include Ink or Dye..
Why do you have to label us as "halloween Circus freaks"?
I have Tattoo's all over my body, Getting the first when I was 17. I used to put them in places that I could hide them, But now I am past that..Each one of my tat's has a story or meaning and I think they are works of art..And thats the way I feel about all people with Ink.
I scan the singles on this site, and the ones that don't attract me I just move on, I don't contact them or start a thread and say something like "why do guys over 40, think it's cool to look like Magnum PI? don't they know that thick flavor savers are not attractive? I don't wanna find what you ate that day after kissin' ya!!"
No..I don't,.
And for some reason I'm not normal because I have Ink and color my hair..
But you are...
Don't judge a book by it's cover...read a few pages, that colorful book might be the best one you've ever read!!

Okay, another thread I am a little confused about. I grew up in the '60s in the San Fran Bay Area. Nothing I have occasionally seen here, Seattle area, beats any of the every day stuff from that era. Whats the big deal? I love the wonderful diversity and strength of the people that have the courage to be who they are. Why can't the rest just accept them or just embrace without judgement or malice?

Thank U!!! I mean I was reading some of these guys on here, stating that "us" people claim to be different but yet we all look the same..Um..How can every single person look different? It's impossible!!
You don't hear me complaining that walking down a street with everybody dressed in business suits and the same haircut and the same platinum blond hair looks like a factory produced volvo driving soceity. Calling them freaks and refusing to talk, be friends or date them...
We all THINK different, and ACT different, But Style is followed and Copied. And that is not saying it's a bad thing, If it was why would they have fashion magazines and Billboards showing people whats hot at the moment?
People "decorate" themselves in different ways..some with jewerly, furs, expensive clothes or whatever it may be, they still do these things to get noticed..I love tattoo's, I love showing them off and having people ask me the meaning behind them..
"normal" is brown, black, blond or Red ?.."normal" is no tattoo's or piercings"?
Well I choose to keep walking threw this "normal" crowd, adding color to the grey..

I find being "different" (ok, we look like all the other different people, right? haha) at my age.. or even your age GoodKndaTrbl.. all the guys tend to look like my high school gym teacher or my friends dad when I was 15. Their idea of seeing a band is going to Ozzfest every summer. I think it's just the area though. There are cool older guys out there but most of them are in California or back east it seems. There are a few though, so that's a good thing. I guess. But they are all married I think??

Yeah, that is true..and this is gonna open a can of "comments"
but that is why I date younger guys (I am trying to break that habit..and expand the age a little) But I find my interests, amount of energy, mixed with people probably seeing me as not "acting my age". Lead me to either being bored on a date with a guy my age, or they think I am to much.
And the guys our age seem to not be youthful naturally, they tend to try to hard and think holding onto their high school days by wearing the same jean jacket and ozzy tee-shirt is doing this. Refusing to open up to anything new ,cuz in their eyes there has never ever been a band better than Metallica..
I find that I have the best time when I venture down to Portland, People are very open and less judgemental. I can sit in the same circle as the punk rocker, the suit, the college grad and carol brady and never once feel out of place.

I see nothing wrong with having mulit colored hair or tattoos and piercings. I had almost every primary and secondary color for my hair and 9 piercings at one point and met a lot of great and interesting people because of it. Its shallow and judgementa people like the woman who posted this that make me sick. You have no right nor does anyone else to judge another person. If you don't like it then don't put yourself in situations with those people. I also met bigoted people who openly criticized my outward appearance just because I chose to look a certain way and express myself in a vivid and visual manner does not say anything about who I am or anyone else for that matter. Difference is the spice of life, its what makes things exciting. Different is good.

earlier in this topic the point was made that if you don't like it..move on to the next profile!!

So..why does a guy take the time to write me with the opening line..
"you need a good scrubbin"
followed by..
omg the tats are aweful you WERE so pretty

are you serious? and did I respond with something equally rude, like
omg you would be ok, if you were not "short" "fat" and "old"
and how are you doing with the women, with a screen name like sasqwatchers?

ok..done venting..
