| Texas Posted: 3/7/2005 11:23:25 PM | A bit of wisdom for the day. If you go to a BBQ cookoff (Houston livestock and rodeo) to sample tons of delicious BBQ, do not eat piping hot Gumbo right when you get there. Decause if you do, you'll burn your tongue and not be able to taste anything for the rest of the day. Despite the near fatal blistered tongue, it was still a blast with all the free beer and such.

| Texas Posted: 3/12/2005 8:15:30 PM | It depends on where you are. I think greenville gets their water from lake ray hubbard... not too good. sorry. a lot of sulphur, and green life. It will get worse when lake levels drop in august. options? not many, get close with the arkla man i guess... But, welcome to Texas! I'm a dam*yankee that moved here 15 years ago, and they'll drag me kickin' and screamin' from here. DFW is a great area. You can go from boot-scootin' to world class symphony in an hour. Food what are you hungry for, we got 'em all. More restaurants per capita than anywhere but NYC and Tokyo. Shopping? Neiman-Marcus and Dollar General. You haven't lived till you see a MB600, or a Silver Cloud at a Dollar General. Climate? we have "Hot" and "fixin' to git hot". Cars? from Jag's to Land Rovers, Hummers to MB sl's, Pickups to motorcycles, take your pick. Like to boat or fish? World class bass at hubbard, lake fork and Rayburn, catfish (over 100 lbs) and stripers at texoma... no state income tax, gas prices are a bit lower, and the people seem to smile here more than many places I've been. | |

| Re: Texas Posted: 4/6/2005 4:31:34 PM | I know ya'll expect the place to make the party but the party should make the place!!!
Realisticly ,as I stated on another thread that has since died, Waco would probably be the better chose. Not that I live close to Waco, I dont.
When you speak of D/FW your generally including an area up to Denton and McKinney. Austin would be a hell of a drive.
Your really not going to get alot of people from south of SA.
Then theres Houston.............................theres Houston................. Well 45 like the Autobahn so they could get here quick!!!!

| Re: Texas Posted: 8/11/2005 1:36:04 AM | Well, I'm moving down there next Friday and in the past I've only drove through. So, I'm still learning about Dallas. I'm a native Texan (from Beaumont, Southeast Texas along the Gulf Coast), but I've never lived in Dallas before. So, to mlatin, it will be a learning experience big time. But there are many, many hotel rooms, clubs (dance, singles, karaoke, strip clubs, etc.), and sporting events that come around every year and season.
There's all kinds of things to do in Dallas.
