Couldn't agree more, but in the Real world people are superficial. Most guys will date women shorter then them, and most women will date men taller then them. And if you're the exception to that rule then I applaud you. | |

Posted: 5/11/2008 8:23:11 AM | Height is important for the majority of men. I'm laughing to myself at the thought that perhaps women think that men tend to date women shorter than themselves because girls almost always insist on a taller guy. Actually, the preference works both ways.
I have to disagree with this. Based on what I have read on the forums and personal experience, the majority of men do not care about height. One time I read about 50 m4w personal ads. Only 4 of these ads mentioned height. Only 2 ads specifically mentioned that they wanted a shorter woman. 2 ads actually mentioned that they wanted a woman taller than a certain height. Then I read about 50 w4m ads. About 20-25 of these ads mentioned that they wanted a taller man.
To the best of my knowledge, most men who are average height or taller are not likely to date a woman who is taller than them. On the other hand, guys who are shorter than average seem much more likely to date a woman who is taller than them.
The average height of a man is 5' 9". Less than 5% of women are 5'9" or taller. They wouldn't necessary refuse to date a taller woman. It's just that there are very few women that would be taller than a man of average height. Laws of probability. | |

theres all types in this big old world and if choice wasnt so diverse then the human race woulda died out long ago some woman like big men some small an visa versa come on if i could find a fairly attractive gal fer me ide be more interested whats inside her head than how small or tall she was an to the guy earlier ide rather bend over to kiss an angel every day than a devil whos a bit taller
but then im average height 5ft 10 so its not really an issue fer me in closing in my experience normal height guys are not bothered | |

I'm not a tall guy anyway, I'm only 5'8" and I get told from women all the time that I'm short. Oh well, that's my height, take it or leave it right? From my experience, short women seem to love tall men over 6' and tall women don't really seem to care much. Just as long as they are not shorter than them. I just prefer to be taller then her and I think most women prefer that as well. | |

Does this bother men?
No, it doesn't bother much at all, I'm slightly under 6' and wouldn't see this as an issue unless the woman was unusually short (under 4'10) or tall (over 6'2). It is usually women who seem to have height issues with men, often insisting that they are taller than themselves. If it's any consolation, I'd say 5'10" is a nice height, and everything else being equal, I'd go for a woman around this height! | |

Im 5'11 and most of the time don't wear heels because then i feel a little "too tall"...if there's such thing!

I won't get into the overstated obvious facts, that people are superficial, have their preferences, yadda yadda..but I don't think height is as big an issue for men as it is for women. I have dated women as short as 4'11 and as tall as 5'11 (once..most have been 5'7 or shorter) and have never had a problem with it either way. But I usually just ignore or move past women that are taller than about 5'8-5'9, since the chance that she would be interested in me is somewhere between 0 and 0%, not because I find HER height an issue. | |
