I am extremely disapointed! I love to brag about how many people added me as a favorite! It makes me feel important! Wanted! Loved!
Fine then. I will just go count them all and post the total in my profile.

Yes, it is subjective and a generalization. However, while you call it an assumption, I would call it an opinion. It is a given that most of what posters write is opinion.

I am of the opinion that one should believe what one says about themselves unless they proof otherwise, Bud.

Buddy, my pof experience changed me. It has made me much more careful on the internet. I am playing in some exciting new places now, which are leading me in new directions. I go in and DELETE,...those who have "Added" me as a "Favorite",..yet NEVER contact me....or doesnt contact me anymore.
Perhaps,...they like my Profile,....maybe they feel compelled to add me because of my Profils, and its contents,....I've recievied Hundreds of messages, from well wishers, and people who relate to my story that I've described in my Profile,.....and I've Thanked 99.9% of them for their Kindness.
But that doesnt mean were "Friends",...maybe "Kindred Spirits",...
But,..if I dont get a message from them occasionaly,...I use the "Remove" feature on my "Friends", list, and simply remove them,....it doesnt mean I dont like them,....or Im not thankfull for their intrest,...its just,..IF,...Your gonna ADD,...me,..as a Favorite,
at least get to know me through some corrispondance, and keep in touch once in a while.....Plain and Simple.
But,...even IF a person, has a "ton of favorites",...I still respond in kind. | |

I sever favourites after about a week if they havent contacted me.
I don't get a charge out of some number on a website.
I KNOW you are using your usual scathing wit in your reply Cats! 
I see I will have to add you to MY favourites to contact you here due to age restrictions. What?
You don't want rotund over 50 grey or no haired guys asking you out! What a superficial witch! lmao | |

Posted: 8/24/2009 10:12:28 AM | "Friends" on PoF is very similar to "friends" on that other popular social web site...not true friends but someone who showed an interest in us but the connection seldome goes anywhere forward. In my early days on POF...wow!!! some 5 years back, I sure date myself...I had "friends" in the hundreds yet met only a few and this was because of the events I partaked to. I also had a count of over 1000 postings when the power that is took that away.
So, no lost going without that feature on PoF. For years I have been using other methodes to keep in communication of my "true love ones"...on PoF and otherwise. Life goes on. | |

Posted: 8/25/2009 12:19:23 AM | | I feel the same way about the favorites thing , but for me its more of a considerate , feeling out process , saying essentially " I have noticed your profile or pic , and find you ie-attractive/enticing/interesting/ , but am considerate enough to allow you a chance to review my profile/image etc , decide if YOU are reciprocally ie-attracted/enticed/interesteed , and if so , please feel free to contact me , and/or add me to YOUR favorites list ". Thus a positive process can begin, with no time wasted , feelings hurt or hopes daunted. I think that if we are quite honest , most of us realize all this, even if we don't feel the need to voice it in forum. | |

Posted: 8/25/2009 8:03:54 PM | to the cat herder - EXACTLY! i concur! a woman after my own heart! LOL!!! thanks for the tip - i'm off to my email to hoard favs like ebenezer scrooge and gloat - i'll leave the sour grapes for the rest to suck on at their leisure!
