Why Does It Seem That EVERYONE On This Site Rides Motorcycles???

[I guess vibrators in public are a bit too obvious]
Why does it have to get all sexual right away? I love to ride with my friends and it has nothing to do with vibration, I don't even own a vibrator! Some people just enjoy being out on the open road, honestly it's relaxing to me. Keep your back massage for someone who wants to stay home, I'll take a bike ride any day!

[whenever a woman mentions that they like to ride...i just move on past]
Thanks for doing me the favor. You know, I only ride with people who I believe I can trust. If I'm gonna die on a motorcycle or end up dying from cancer, that's the path God has chosen for me and it is what it is. Nothing changes fate. You only get one life to live & I'd at least like to go out knowing I died doing what I love to do.

I've always ridden a dirtbike, present one isn't street legal but I ride it around between farms and back roads sometimes. What I've noticed is that the street bikers are giving me "The Wave", a sort of low five kind of thing.

Don't they realize I'm NOT one of them? It's like cats and dogs in a way, I'm riding a REAL bike, not some version of a 2 wheel car. If someone on a Trike waved at me I think it would about make me ill.

So the best I can do, and only if there's a gal on the back or actually riding her own bike, is my "Nod", after all when you are riding a real bike, you better hang on with two hands.

Hope I stir things up a little!!! B

So many men that I see have posted pics with their motorcycles, and their whole identity is tied up in a form of tranportation. I am afraid I couldn't compete with THAT!! Plus, the sound hurts my ears.

1] SHE gets about 50 MPG!

2] SHE is always fun to ride!

3 ] SHE never complains whether I ride her hard or easy!

4] I can touch HER anywhere for any reason at any hour of the day or night and NOT get that "not now" look! Gas tank, headlights, taillights, wheels, whatever!

People who ride motorcycles are good. People who do not like motorcycles are irrelevant. They drive cars or ride donkeys or walk, and make up the traffic that crawls along slowly.

Fewer people here have bikes than have pogo sticks. If not for the shameful stigma, you would see more pictures.

When you compare the statistics for motorcycle safety versus car safety you find that motorcycles are just as safe if you ignore the fact that injuries from accidents tend to result in fatalities more often on the motorcycle side of things. Put another way, you are as likely to wreck a car as a bike, but the bike wreck will probably result in greater injury. Death is likely only when you don't wear your helmet, which you really should on any ride where you plan on crashing.

That dog won't hunt with someone like me who has lost too many loved ones in motorcycle crashes and all but one were wearing helmets. The latest victim has been laying in ICU for 3 weeks now. If he doesn't die, he'll probably never recognize any of us, talk, play his guitar or ride that hawg again. He may be able to shuffle down the hall of some convalescent home. YIPPEE! I feel like my family is cursed or something, and I cannot relax and enjoy the ride. The last time (about 25 years ago) I was sitting there, thinking "Okay... I'm hurdling down the road, not as big and visible as a car, with no kind of protection around me. I've lost my f***ing mind!!!" Still... I don't begrudge or judge those who enjoy riding, but it sure sounds like a few people around here could be less judgmental of and rude to those of us who don't (the person I quoted above NOT being one of the rude ones).

Thats cool,...

Here in INDY, we have a Local MC Club that host a "HANGOVER RALLY" every year on New Years Day, where up to a thousand riders ride in a "Poker Run" event,....its a lot of fun,...the stops allow you to warm up a bit, if you want, or just keep trucking.

Rideing a bike,...is "FUN",......but freezing is not,....you have to dress for it.

Being a "Biker",.....
used to be a statement, about ones self, being independent, non conforming, and sort of a rebel.

Not so anymore,...at least to a real biker.

Now, there are sooooooooooo many people, that want to "Be Cool" and think their being "Different",....LOL

I never could understand, why someone thinks just cause they have the cash, or credit, can go out and buy a motorcycle, and a black leather jacket,..and suddenly they become a "Biker".

And how can soooooooooo many people claim to be
"Free",...and,..."Original",....and,... "Different",.... from the rest,.....

When their all dressed alike ?

Everybody wants to claim to be "Different",...yet,...look just like all the other bikers.

Me,....I ride when I want too,....I ride solo,.....most of the time,.....I dont associate with any "Gangs",..or large groups of riders,......I have,......I will again,......but basicly I prefer to have only a hand full of friends to ride with.

Much more enjoyable.

Most of the people I know,...when asked to ride with,...just "Bar Hop",...from one to another.

Not me,....when I ride,... I like to ride, to a destination,.....someplace that is unique,
or out of the way,.......and not over run by a bunch of overgrown kids running around acting like an idot trying to impress others.

My Lady,...when she rides with me,.......doesnt "Flash her tit's" to anyone.
We both have more respect for ourselves, than that.

If I wanted to drink, Id go to a bar.
If I wanted to see tits,...Id go to a strip club.

If I want to go for a ride on my bike,...you'll find me out in the country,. on some old back road, that takes you on an adventure, where you find old buildings,....
Old Graveyards,....nice creeks, brooks, or streams to sit by and see nature at its finest.

Others might like the bright lights of the flashy Neon,

I perfer to have the wind in my face, and an open road in front of me.

Different strokes for different folks.

And macho and sexual about the rider! To be wrapped around the man your with, through the open road feeling carefree with your hair blowing in the wind. Please.....what could be better! Maybe a trip to Sturgis?! That would be awesome!

I'm with you-it's mainly a guy thing. I don't care if others ride them, but I don't want to, and come to think of it, would rather them not either-they're dangerous, but it's not a deal breaker in choosing who to date. I've had a couple of men even tell me they'd be interested in me if I had mentioned cycles on my profile, otherwise it IS a deal breaker for them. Oh well, I have my own interests...

it was 2003 when my hubby had to have a anniversary fat boy he had always wanted a harley so hey it was a dream iwasnt going to deny him. He layed it down the first day broke his colar bone. Before that is was a ski boat , deer hunting, nas car races, restoring a 57 chevy then building a 32 ford chevy powered from the frame up.Boys & their toys. The bike he loved it, he was alive, joined the local HOG Group went on rides every weekend And some long trips. he was bald except for that ring around his head so he just started shaving his head daily. he went on poker runs , toy for tots run you name it he was there . I think biking gets in your soul. you either love it or hate it.He was very passionate about it. He had another wreck in Mar. 2006 this one was a bad one.A rider hit him head on going around a curve @ 40 mph he had a couple of sugerys , his girlfriend has had several surgerys & lost her ring finger. He has a new bike now & is riding again. I know as long as he can he will ride ...... if that makes a man happy why not.

I prefer to ride (my motorcycles) solo...

But enjoy the "occasional" passenger, if she's into it...

I can live without "Youre going too fast!" when I'm already going slow

and the "why do you have to lean over so far?".. umm to avoid going off the road..

then theres the "my hairs all messed up" , I told you to tie it back...

I love girls who love motorcycles! and I want one as my companion!

Looks like this thread is heating up! should be red hot by Spring!

See my profile for my ride route Summer 2008 , Atlanta to Nova Scotia and Back

I don't have a motorcycle. I have no idea how to ride one, but I've always wanted to learn.

Wouldn't mind finding somebody who'd be willing to teach me.....

I practice ATGATT which stands for All The Gear All The Time, I always wear eye protection, Helmet, gloves, Leather Jacket and long pants with some kind of protective gear underneath, most motorcycle accidents are caused by "cagers" who cant drive a car well, much less a motorcycle..

The bad rap riders get is because of "Squids" who endager others by performing stunts in traffic or riding beyond thier capabilities and/or dumb*sses riding harleys under the influence who end up hurting some "innocent" cager who wasnt paying attention and turned in front of them. I ride as if I were invisible, even if someone turning is looking straight at me I slow down and look for an escape route, this has saved my ass numerous times.

I rode 14,000 miles in 6 weeks from Atlanta to Alaska without incident, sure threre were some close calls mostly due to "cagers" but I survived unscathed..
Motorcycling is not for everyone, hell I wouldnt jump in an airplane and try to fly it.. but yet any dumbass with a fistfull of money or good credit can go buy a state of the art street legal race bike and they hand over the keys, thats like handing a radio controlled airplane pilot the controls to a jumbo jet IMO.. Motorcycles arent for everyone, especially not the meek, it takes skill and ability, even then there is a level of risk involved..

So where are the girls that are attracted to guys on Motorcycles???

When my friends expressed concern for me in the past because I was dating a man who had a motorcycle, I had one standard answer. I would tell them that until they had experienced the freedom, the exhilaration, the pleasure a lady gains from riding with their man, they would not understand. Whether we were cruising along the back roads through small towns, or riding cross country to our favorite beach, we had fun!!!

I miss that euphoria, the sense that you could see for miles, feel the wind on your face, and the machine purring beneath you.....

Gonzofanmel, since you live in PA, check out this site: www.pamsp.com. What you want is the basic riders course. Bikes and helmets are supplied. I took this course in Ohio last year. Looks like it's free in PA.

I chaulk it up to "IT'S A GUY THING".
Gaaaaaaccccccccckkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely hate that. My mother is always telling me too that it belongs being a guy hobby.

I love my bike, and no I will not give it up for a guy. I don't require that any guy I'm with ride, but he better not get in the way of me riding. As it is, I am currently dating a Ducati rider, so we don't have to worry about being told to stop riding. We'd probably only argue over who gets to buy yet ANOTHER bike first.

Basic bike care isn't very difficult. Changing the oil is 100x easier than today's modern cars, and hanging out with various motorcycling groups and forums is a great way to pick up on how to do more things....plus the shop manual is infinitely valuable. Really, a small bike is a VERY ideal way for a woman to get around I think. I've convinced a number of women to take the beginner MSF courses as an easy way to find out what they think of it, and when I meet them after their first day of class, they are grinning from ear to ear and declaring that they've fallen in love with a piece of machinery for the first time.

I've been one bikes of one form or another since I was five and won't stop riding until I'm dead!

You got your wish, there dude!

I'll let you stay in your little dream world where you think that "crotch rockets" are the only type of "REAL" bikes. Dude, not everybody wants to be hunched over a bike like a pretzel and eating exhaust fumes from the surrounding vehicles because your face is about the same height as most SUV's tailpipes. Try riding to Sturgis bent over like that and tell me that your back isn't killing you.

Granted, crotch rockets are more powerful/a lot faster, cc for cc, than a heavy cruiser or touring bike. A 600 cc crotch rocket can blow my man's Virago 1100 heavy cruiser away off the line and leave me in its dust. Crotch rockets have better acceleration than cruisers or touring bikes. This is the same reason that they are inherently more dangerous.

More often than not, it's very young guys that ride crotch rockets, and these are the same guys who are much more aggressive riders/drivers, and who have the highest insurance rates. I have never seen anyone on a cruiser or touring bike do wheelies, burn doughnuts, or weave and bob in between lanes of traffic at a high rate of speed. It's the same acceleration that makes aggressive riding dangerous, because those bikes move so fast you don't see them coming.

Did you ever stop to think that MAYBE that guy over there on the trike is mobility-impaired and this is how he can still ride a motorcycle?? Is he less of a "real" biker and does he deserve any less to experience the exhiliration of riding, because his arthritis won't let him walk any more, his knees are messed up, or he's missing part of a limb due to an accident, or whatever?

IMHO, crotch rockets were designed for racing and should stay on the racetracks.

Why not!?! It's so exciting, sensual, free and you get to wrap your arms around your man the whole trip! There's something naughty and dangerous about riding a bike. And macho and sexual about the rider! To be wrapped around the man your with, through the open road feeling carefree with your hair blowing in the wind.

I love the sentiment, girl, and you're definitely on the right track to adopting the "biker" way of thinking, but you've got one thing dead wrong in my opinion..... No way in hell should you have your arms wrapped around your man! Your arms should be either at your side or on your lap. It's unsafe to be wrapped around your man like that. If he loses his balance for some reason, you go with him. If you're not wrapped around him, your weight may counter that effect and help to keep the bike upright. When I see a girl wrapping her arms around a male rider, my only thought is that she's scared/nervous and doesn't trust the person at the throttle. In the case of crotch rockets, I can see why she would be scared

If you're going to go on a long ride such as the one to Sturgis, you're going to want to be relaxed and comfortable. I'd also be willing to bet that your Man doesn't want you wrapped around him all the time either, as it can be quite constricting.

Not all real bikers are "bad boys" and not all female bikers go around flashing their tits.

Wearing leather does NOT make you a "real" biker nor does it indicate that you're in a gang. Leather is worn to protect skin in the event that the bike is laid down; concrete or asphalt will rip through your jeans in half a second but won't do the same to the leather. Strangely enough it also protects you from wind and cold, to some degree.

In response to some comments about what constitutes a "real" biker (and this is my opinion only): It's not about what you ride and it's not about what you wear when you ride. It's not about whether you have long hair or belong to a club and wear colours. It's not about trying to look and act tough or cool. It's not about having a bunch of tattoos and/or piercings. It's not about status.

What it IS about , is the feeling of pure joy and the song in your heart that you feel when you ride your bike. It's about loving every minute of the time you're on that bike. It's about wanting to ride it every chance you get, even when the weather isn't ideal. It's about the freedom, the peace, and the serenity you feel from riding, and it permeates your soul. Being a "real" biker is more about ATTITUDE than it is about lifestyle or appearance.

It doesn't matter WHAT you ride; what matters is that you DO ride.
