| How closely do you look at someone's teeth? Posted: 6/24/2007 1:54:00 PM | Eh, it depends. For the most part as long as they all seem to be there, they're clean, and all seem to be facing the right direction they're fine. I start having issues when the girl obviously doesn't even take basic care of them (such as brushing daily), or has teeth missing, even back a little bit, that haven't been replaced or bridged. Fuzzy teeth and missing teeth are both huge turn-offs | |

| How closely do you look at someone's teeth? Posted: 7/7/2007 6:05:04 PM | I myself smoke. drink coffee and like blueberry pie... But my teeth are perfectly straight exept my k9's are larger then most and my wisdom teeth.. they are off and i need to get them taken care of but thats mucho grande $$$$ there but you cant see them just when i pop my jaw from them lol ... I have had a few fillings i blame the mountain dew... its full of sugar and kill's your teeth!. but as far as a woman's teeth go? as long as they are nice and clean i know how it is being a smoker and drinking coffee does stain them i partake in a scrubbing every few day's to keep the extra discoloration away. may seem simpler to quit smokeing or drinking coffee but if i told you to stop drinking water would you? probley not. i saw earlyer someone made the comment about bottled water, and its true if you notice this bottled water craze is rediculas cause theres no florid in the bottled water. anyways Hope that help's ... Oh one last thing if the woman has some shark teeth i think that would be a turn off... long k9's i could handle but no shark teeth!! of obvious reasons!!! | |

| How closely do you look at someone's teeth? Posted: 7/7/2007 7:42:32 PM | My son is 19 and I'm still reminding him to brush and floss even tho I know he does.
I've had bad teeth (define bad?) for a variety of reasons, soda growing up, smoking, knocked out a few and had the military dentists replace them with a bridge (get an off base dentist! lol) Then combine those front teeth with my real ones and the color changes make my smile look horrible half white and half a little off white. It doesn't stop me from smiling, other things do that lol
Hygein? hell yeah I brush and floss several times a day and carry flosssticks around in my car for after eating I probably go thru a half dozen a day of them. There is nothing I can really do short of $30K for implants.
Does it matter to me, sure nice teeth are a plus but would I hold it against a woman that had everything else I could hope to find? Hell no, but I guess I'm biased. I wish I could go back in time and never smoke or drink soda and have taken better care of mine.
I once went to work at a womans appartment to fix a variety of things for the landlord/friend. When she came home I realized I knew her from 20 years ago when we were teens ( I had a crush on her back then too) well her appartment was a pig stye which ok I can overlook as having a bad week... but she smiled when she saw me there... she had braces on... and they were full of food! and her breath stunk now thats where I draw the line. Her teeth were better then mine yet I took better care of mine then she did... talk about not being fair in life lol
You have to keep your mouth and teeth clean, even if they are far from perfect and varied color from a bad dentist or even perfect shape and color, if they are not clean or you have bad breath then thats just gross.
Colors change from coffee and from smoking, some teeth dont change with the rest... doesn't mean you have bad hygein and arent clean, just means you should quit smoking and drinking coffee :)
Would you pass up a great person just over teeth? No wonder so many people are single and can't find anyone to date... People look for your flaws and dont look at your wonderful qualities as if they were a perfect person themselves and deserve nothing less then perfection. I won't pass up a date with someone over crooked teeth or a color difference, but I would if her breath smelled from bad hygein.

But I'll never hold it against someone because their parents neglected to send them to an orthodontist when they were young.

| How closely do you look at someone's teeth? Posted: 7/7/2007 10:55:08 PM | | I can't speak for evyone , but I know I do. It is sort of a pet peeve of mine. Im actually glad to know Im not the only one who does. For instance there is this girl I like , she's sweet , funny , down to earth ,single , is about my height(Im short, 5'3) and every time i bring myself to ask her out on a date I look at her teeth and chicken out! Sounds awefull , and vain doesn't it ? But I can't help it ,bad teeth gross me out! I take good care of my teeth, and I can't stand bad breath. Kissing is a big part of sex, and sex is a big part of a relationship. So rather than lead her on , and hurt her feelings for dumping her I just keep my mouth shut and think to myself, If only. So what would I concider unacceptable for a first date? That depends on how bad they are, crooked is ok, but crooked teeth with bits of food stuck in them..NO WAY! missing teeth..that would depend on how many are left and what those look like. false teeth..maybe, if they talk normally with them in , and besides having a girl with false teeth can be a bonus for a guy,LOL!! ..yellow teeth, that depends on how yellow, very few people have truly white teeth, but I have seen some people whows teeth were so yellow I felt sick just looking at them. | |

I agree - I truly can not go near a man's mouth if he does not clean his teeth properly - if his teeth are crooked thats ok - but, UNCLEAN IS NOT OK. Bacteria can spread to your mouth - yuck!!! Have to kiss a decent mouth

| How closely do you look at someone's teeth? Posted: 7/8/2007 9:55:09 AM | My ex had GREAT teeth....teeth I'd LOVE to have....but before I met him he didn't take care of them so well and was developing gum disease....he started using my dentist and they told him about his problem. He started really taking care of his teeth but it was too late. His breath is terrible and 18 years later he still won't go and have anything done. I've been very upset about this because he'd say, "I'll just get dentures."
I couldn't believe it...all these years I've slaved over my teeth because of bad genes and rebellion over braces when I was in middle school (they HURT like HELL)....all the root canals and caps I've had...
And he wanted to throw his away.
My teeth are yellowed because of genes and antibiotics, I'm missing 2 in the back because the root canals failed after 15 years...the teeth crack. I cannot afford $3000 a tooth to get new ones. ~sigh~ I have flossed, brushed, picked, visited the dentist, had over 12 root canals, caps out the wazoo....and he said , "why don't you just get dentures too?"
PS, most of my dental work was done before we married so money wasn't the issue.
I just found that some people don't value certain things...he didn't value teeth, education, or communication.
I think maybe I'll start a thread somewhere about dentures Pro's and Con's!!! tooks

| How closely do you look at someone's teeth? Posted: 7/30/2007 11:03:24 AM | | I am not going to reject someone based on her teeth. To me, that is silly. Exception is if she has meth mouth or something like that..some extreme bad teeth. Nobody is perfect. | |

| How closely do you look at someone's teeth? Posted: 7/30/2007 11:27:48 AM | Teeth are a very important thing to me. If a girl has cracked, dry lips and had a bad set of teeth I wouldn't be able to go ANYWHERE NEAR her.
Luckily I have a good set of teeth (and lips) and I ensure that they are kept in good nick and I take great care of them. If other people can't be bothered to take care of themselves in the same way then they're not worth you doting over them in my opinion.

| How closely do you look at someone's teeth? Posted: 8/2/2007 2:19:40 PM | I use to work in the dental fields and bad teeth are a major turn off for me. Overly stained teeth, the 'heroine' lined teeth (the teeth were the gums are WAY up so that the root is exposed and in that space looks like it it packed with lint, we call it that because a lot of heroine users have teeth like that, but some people who just dont brush get them too), gold teeth in the front (like a gold crown, why not get a porcelain crown if its in your first few rows of teeth), or other things like that...
i cant be mad at someone who has crocked teeth (but not too much, if they have a normal sized gap or something or have a few teeth slightly twisted, thats fine, but if they have a bite that scares small children, not good)...
if someone doesnt all all their front teeth, its kinda scary, not a deal breaker all the way though, i can understand sh!t is expensive...
but someone who just generally doenst brush and floss and rinse at least twice a day or has chronic bad breath...
thats a major turn off and i couldnt deal with that...

| How closely do you look at someone's teeth? Posted: 8/2/2007 3:07:20 PM | Well I myself have small teeth...my gums are kinda big especially when I smile and yes they are crooked, I hate to smile full on because of it....My parents had 3 kids and my baby sister was the priority with having many problems growing up (living in a group home now) as she is 20 with the mind of a 6 year old. So, yeah my parents couldn't afford to put braces on me and I left home and set out on my own at 16....So, have never been able to afford them....I am very self conscious about them...But yes I do brush them, and don't have bad breath just have not yet been able to afford to fix them. But would like to one day
And I wouldn't judge a man based simply on his teeth, with problems of my own...so long as they aren't rotting or black and gross..cause mine aren't...just slightly crooked

| How closely do you look at someone's teeth? Posted: 8/2/2007 6:54:00 PM | I like nice teeth. A missing tooth won't bother me unless it's a front tooth! Last summer I met a guy briefly and I don't remember his name or anything about him other than he had really bad teeth.
I take good care of mine but they have never been pearly white, and it bothers me a lot, so I don't smile as much as I should.
