| Diamonds, size or quality??? Posted: 1/10/2008 6:45:35 PM | First of all I'd be happy that a man I loved would love me back enough to spend the time and money every year as a reminder of our love. Err.. that might not have come out right as I'm having a problem focusing on things tonight.. damn pain.. grrr..
Secondly... I would be thrilled with what you described OP. The ex had a ring and bracelet made for me one year (not an anniversary, birthday, Christmas pressie.. long story).. and while the two stones are not large, they are devinely *perfect*. Without digging for the appraisals I can't be sure of the exact details, but they are white and clear of flaws.

| Diamonds, size or quality??? Posted: 1/12/2008 8:13:40 PM | I tend to like quite simple jewellery that is more subtle, and I would definitely take quality over size of diamond. | |

I would prefer my S.O. to spend the time *with me* that he'd otherwise waste picking out some useless stone. So I am picking quality together time over diamonds of any size or quality. Oh, that was not an option? Well, you should add that option.

Cut Clarity Carat Color
ALL of these go into the quality of a diamond, and show the effort of the buyer. I never got one even after 11 years of being married, so what does that say?

| Diamonds, size or quality??? Posted: 1/12/2008 9:27:47 PM | I would prefer good quality over quantity, every single time. There are so many different cuts and settings, I would also prefer to see something that suits my hand. I once saw a diamond ring with the center stone so small, you needed a magnifying glass to see if it was there, or not! The clearest coloured diamond will hold its value, free of flaws and cloudiness. There are all kinds of diamond rings, but if it's meant for an engagement ring, make sure the wedding band matches, or compliments the whole setting. A comfort band is a little extra, but worth the cost.

| Diamonds, size or quality??? Posted: 1/12/2008 9:39:19 PM | | which ever you decide there ways to get the best of both worlds when i asked my ex to marry me i had a ring custom made. it is not that expensive and the qualities you can find can be exceptional. i was tired of looking at department store type jewelery so i went to a jeweler and we worked out a design from some pictures he had. i gave him a price range and we went from there. he brought me three diamonds of varying qualities and i chose the best one. just a ballpark and only an example but the ring cost 500 to make and the diamond i choose was 1750 together the ring was appraised at well over 5000. so what ever you decide keep this in mind where you can give a little of both. | |

| Diamonds, size or quality??? Posted: 1/12/2008 9:58:04 PM | Quality of interaction, quality of time spent together, quality of relationship - those are the qualitites that I care for.
Size of man's brain and size of his heart... NOT the size of his wallet.
Diamonds, or ANY other object that indicates conspicuos consumption, are useless in my world...If he will bring me a bowl of soup when I am sick, help me build a fire when I am cold, and sit with me through one of the weird foreign movies that I like to watch - that will show me that he cares for me more than anything that he can buy me.
But, that's just me...
