email and then talk on the phone... you cvan only get to know someone so well from emails and phone converstations.... if ya want to see if there is a spark by all means meet the person!! I talked to the gy I'm dating for a coule of weeks before we met....granted we had wanted to meet before that but timing just wasnt right for either of us..:) I've had both good and bad experiences with meeting someone right away...:)

though what would a knight on a white horse do indoors? The obvious, sound like a tin-pan jamboree and clean up horse-poop. ;) Interesting... from one computer geek to another, how did the professor define genetic compatibility? Pheremones. People who aren't geneticly complimentary just don't smell "right" close up. Most of the evidnce I've seen leads to suggest that people at that level are attracted to people that have an immune system that compliments their own, and repulsed by those that have one that's similar/identical to theirs. The theory being that offspring of the complimentary set will have a wider, more resilient immune base while those from similar/identical systems will have even more aparant gaps in their systems. Even through all of the cologne/perfume, body washes, shampoo etc. It's still there. I've dated women that once I got close enough I just couldn't get enough of their smell, even hot and sweaty or "un primped" they were damn sexy smelling to me, and I've dated women that while just as physically, and mentally attractive, just smelled 'wrong'. Not suprisingly they had similar comments about me to both extremes.

I watched a show on the Discovery Channel where a professor researching human attraction demonstrated the human ability to select the most genetically compatible mate with 90% accuracy based on smell alone. When's the last time you smelled a database and even if you could which of us would go around sniffing them? Interesting... from one computer geek to another, how did the professor define genetic compatibility? I saw the same program and it was incredibly interesting. I don't remember ALL of the details, but it's all done at a subconscious level. The one thing I do remember though is that people who find themselves very attracted to each other right away normally have "opposite" strengths in their immune system and tend to join those in order to pass them on to their children... with the child getting a better immunity than the parents. There was a lot more to it, but that's what I remember. Maybe if others remember other parts, you won't have to go out and rent/buy the discovery show. :-) James, Seattle, Washington, USA, Earth

Hmm, perhaps a mechanism to prevent mating with one's relatives? Their immune systems would likely be like our own.
