| How many pounds over their ideal weight could a person be describe themselves as average Posted: 6/12/2007 5:55:03 AM | OP
That is a loaded question How much extra can be considered extra, that removes you from [average], does the extra give a [dunlap] over your beltline, how well does your body carry the weight, where has it settled, are you still considered HWP, there are so many women claiming average while really being borderline BBW that its hard to say about you.
You are right, no pix?
20lb can be ok or it can be ugly, is it all over your body or do you look pregnant?

| How many pounds over their ideal weight could a person be describe themselves as average Posted: 6/12/2007 10:51:00 AM | I posted in my profile "Average", but I am all but average. I'm 6'3" 200 lbs. 25 BMI wear a size 16 pants 18/20 tops. There was no way for me to check anything else. I am not overweight....not athletic....curvy is what I'd call myself...and when you look at it that way....most women that are not skinny or overweight are curvy...that would make it average again. So confusing.... Good luck. | |

| How many pounds over their ideal weight could a person be describe themselves as average Posted: 6/12/2007 1:30:59 PM | Hi Mags, You are definetly not the norm. Yet you are very good proportioned for your height. I would have to say you rank average since your height is listed right up front.
I agree curvy being the norm, Inward cuvy at the waist. Some define curvy as in outward at the waist. that would be the extra pounds or the bigger choices.

| How many pounds over their ideal weight could a person be describe themselves as average Posted: 6/12/2007 1:42:32 PM | After giving it any thought I am not comfortable with actually putting any pictures up.
I would like some honest mens opinions though and would send a few guys a private image, and then you can reply here what cha think. Let me know if you will be an honest judge for my body type description. These will be clothed normal pictures. I thought to send you one acgoat but you don't accept mail from long distance.
I just don't want to waste time communicating with a man who likes thinner or bigger girls than I am, or who may assume me dishonest.
Thanks for the input!

An ideal woman should be around 20% body fat. So if you are 30% body fat and you weigh 150 lbs, you are 15 lbs overweight.
That is not correct. For women 14-20% is considered a healthy range for competetive athletes, 21-24% is healthy for fitness, 25-31% is considered an 'acceptable' range and anything above 32% is considered obese. 11-14% Body Fat is essential for women.
If the ideal woman was at 20%, you'd be dating a competetive athlete.
For men, 2-4% body fat is essential, 6-13% is an athletic body fat range, 14-17% is considered a 'fit' range, and 18-25% is acceptable. Anything above 26% for men is considered obese.
There is also a good graph here: http://www.tanita.com/images/BodyFatRangeChartLarge.jpg

| How many pounds over their ideal weight could a person be describe themselves as average Posted: 6/12/2007 3:19:57 PM | Now see on the dating sites I can never figure out what to put. If I put "a few extra lbs." most guys are going to assume that I'm 20-30 lbs. overweight. If I put normal, I am assuming they'll expect me to be in the mid-range of desired weight. I usually put "curvy" because of my Sicilian genetics. In person, I never seem to have problems with men being attracted to me, even though I am technically about 5-10 lbs. overweight for a 47 year old woman. I am 5'6" 155 lbs and curvy. But on the dating sites, I still don't know if I am being accurate. Is "curvy" someone who's in their desired weight range, but just has a few curves? ARGH!
Also, I see some people that put "toned and athletic" that are nowhere near that. I eat healthy and work out 3-4 days a week, but when I think "toned and athletic" I think of someone that's very athletic, has good muscle tone, and very little body fat. But most people online that put this descriptor are usually just "normal" and don't look like they've been to gym at all. If I am comparing myself to some of those that put toned and athletic, I am more so than they are!
I think I agree with the guy that says it all depends how one carries the weight.

*Ideal Weights according to the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company tables (1983)
Calculating Your Frame Size Following is the method the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company used to calculate frame size:
Extend your arm in front of your body bending your elbow at a ninety degree angle to your body so that your forearm is parallel to your body.
Keep your fingers straight and turn the inside of your wrist towards your body.
Place your thumb and index finger on the two prominent bones on either side of your elbow, then measure the distance between the bones with a tape measure or calipers. Compare to the chart below. The chart lists elbow measurements for a medium frame - if your elbow measurement for that particular height is less than the number of inches listed, you are a small frame - if your elbow measurement for that particular height is more than the number of inches listed, your are a large frame. Elbow Measurements for Medium Frame Men Elbow Measurement Women Elbow Measurement 5'2" - 5'3" 2-1/2" to 2-7/8" 4'10"-4'11" 2-1/4" to 2-1/2" 5'4" - 5'7" 2-5/8" to 2-7/8" 5'0" - 5'3" 2-1/4" to 2-1/2" 5'8" - 5'11" 2-3/4" to 3" 5'4" - 5'7" 2-3/8" to 2-5/8" 6'0" - 6'3" 2-3/4" to 3-1/8" 5/8" - 5'11" 2-3/8" to 2-5/8" 6'4" 2-7/8" to 3-1/4" 6'0" 2-1/2" to 2-3/4"

| How many pounds over their ideal weight could a person be describe themselves as average Posted: 7/22/2007 2:39:18 PM | I dont get this. THis is soooo easy. why would someone want to argue a "personal" average or a "national" average. this has nothing to do with anyone of your personally. it is simply a measure. in this case a body measure.
thin= not much muscular mass, smaller bone structure, not fat reserves or very little. athletic = good bone structure, a muscular mass that is toned with little or no fat AVERAGE= not a small nor a big bone structure, not small nor big muscular mass, little to no fat reserves afew extra pounds: means a surplus of fat reserves that is higher than 25% bbw: self explanatory

| How many pounds over their ideal weight could a person be describe themselves as average Posted: 7/22/2007 2:57:32 PM | Hmmm...I just changed mine to "few xtra lbs...because I AM a few (10+) as opposed to a couple months ago. I am still within my average BMI, for my age group (5'4 & 135) and still wear the same size clothes as I have worn the past 5+ years. BUT my muscle mass has softened due to playing and not exercising as much as I usually do (blading, swimming, riding, etc) so I FEEL overweight. My ideal weight is 120-125 but even when I am in great shape, not many soft spots, I weigh more.....BUT I drop one clothing size ?! I love food too much to diet...ugh! So, it's get off the old butt and get back on the horse, so to speak. Then I can change mine back to "average". | |
