Wish I was ocean size They cannot move you No one tries No one pulls you Out from your hole Like a tooth aching a jawbone...
I was made with a heart of stone To be broken With one hard blow I've seen the ocean Break on the shore Come together with no harm done...
It ain't easy living...
I want to be As deep As the ocean Mother ocean
Some people tell me Home is in the sky In the sky lives a spy I want to be more like the ocean No talking man All action... No talking all action All action...

| Is there a song that describes you? Posted: 8/5/2007 3:12:14 PM | Dang, what a difficult challenge. Different moods, different phases of my life, etc. would compel me to change theme songs from time to time.
Burl Ives' "Call me Mr. In Between" would have been a good one when I was a young man.
Perhaps the best one today would be Sheb Wooley's "Purple People Eater" (One-Eyed One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater)
Couldn't resist.
Tight lines

| Is there a song that describes you? Posted: 8/5/2007 5:43:51 PM | Burning Bright
I feel like there is no need for conversation Some questions are better left without a reason And I would rather reveal myself than my situation Now and then I consider, my hesitation
(Chorus) The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning, burning bright
I wonder if the things I did were just to be different To spare myself of the constant shame of my existence And I would surely redeem myself in my desperation Here and now I'll express, my situation
(Chorus) The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning bright
The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning…
There's nothing ever wrong But nothing's ever right Such a cruel contradiction I know I cross the lines It’s not easy to define I'm born to indecision There's always something new Some path I'm supposed to choose With no particular rhyme or reason
(Chorus) The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning bright
The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning…
I feel like there is no need for conversation

They're coming to take me away, HA HA They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA To the funny farm Where life is beautiful all the time And I'll be happy to see Those nice, young men In their clean, white coats And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

| Is there a song that describes you? Posted: 8/6/2007 12:12:40 AM | Actually I have had a few people tell me that this song always reminded them of me whenever they heard it
Drops of Jupiter by Train
Now that shes back in the atmosphere With drops of jupiter in her hair, hey, hey She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds me that theres time to change, hey, hey Since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like june, hey, hey
Tell me did you sail across the sun Did you make it to the milky way to see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated
Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star One without a permanent scar And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there
Now that shes back from that soul vacation Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey She checks out mozart while she does tae-bo Reminds me that theres room to grow, hey, hey
Now that shes back in the atmosphere Im afraid that she might think of me as plain ol jane Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land
Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back to the milky way And tell me, did venus blow your mind Was it everything you wanted to find And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there
Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know youre wrong Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone Conversation The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me
Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back toward the milky way

| Is there a song that describes you? Posted: 8/6/2007 10:36:34 PM | No, I don' t think that there is a song that captures me; though that "It's Not Easy" song by Five for Fighting does capture some of my feelings over the past year... since my ex and I split up.
Admittedly it is kinda sappy and pitiful -- afterall, it's not easy to be..... ANYONE -- but, you know, it does express that no matter how much a person might have going for them, they're still only human and vulnerable and struggling to find the best in themselves and the world.
I can't stand to fly I'm not that naive I'm just out to find The better part of me
I'm more than a bird I'm more than a plane More than some pretty face beside a train It's not easy to be me
I wish that I could cry Fall upon my knees Find a way to lie About a home I'll never see
It may sound absurd But don't be naive Even heroes have the right to bleed I may be disturbed But won't you conceed Even heroes have the right to dream It's not easy to be me
Up, up and away...away from me It's all right...You can all sleep sound tonight I'm not crazy...or anything...
I can't stand to fly I'm not that naive Men weren't meant to ride With clouds between their knees
I'm only a man in a silly red sheet Digging for kryptonite on this one way street Only a man in a funny red sheet Looking for special things inside of me
It's not easy to be me. | |

Then listen to "Everything" by Alanis where she writes about someone who accepts it all from her! ......... I can dream!

| Is there a song that describes you? Posted: 8/6/2007 10:55:09 PM | Hopeless Romantic, by the Bouncing Souls
I don't know what other people see, or what they think is love But i know know what it means to me, I fall in love so easily And it's hard to let your guard down, Something you never wanted to But i gave you my heart and if you turned away, I guess i'd be screwed, but... I'm a hopeless romantic! You're just hopeless! I'm a hopeless romantic! You're just hopeless! Beer and wine does me fine, but it doesn't always do When i get back up and dust off, I always come back to you. I'm my own man with my own plan, I can't do the things you want me to I'm kinda lazy and i kinda stink, But i'll clean myself up for you I'm a hopeless romantic! You're just hopeless! I'm a hopeless romantic! You're just hopeless! You're just hopeless! You're just hopeless!

| Is there a song that describes you? Posted: 8/7/2007 3:06:20 AM | I think I have posted on this one before, however, is there a song that describes me.
There sure is, and it is Eric Clapton's "I've Got A Rock N Roll Heart".
I love that song, and it has got a nice beat to it, and the lyrics are pretty straight forward.
However, it is one of Clapton's greatest songs.

| Is there a song that describes you? Posted: 8/7/2007 8:09:46 PM | Like I posted previously in this thread, different songs apply at different times. Sometimes "Harold The Horny Toad" would be apt.
I am not totally confident who recorded it... think it was Ronnie Prophet? An online search yielded nothing to confirm that.
I'll have to consider this matter further to see what other songs fit me. Stay tuned...

| Is there a song that describes you? Posted: 8/7/2007 10:52:46 PM | Anyone who knows me -- and the road I've walked the last five years -- might have difficulty believing this... but the song I most identify with is Keith Urban's "Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me?"
When I hear that song... I just know that in spite of all the proverbial that's come down the pipe... I'm still one of the luckiest barstards on Earth... as are we all who are reasonably healthy and who live in Vancouver, BC in the year 2007.
What a *GREAT* ride... cell phones... the Internet... "food on demand"... movies... waterskiing... air travel... Holy Shite, Batman...

| Is there a song that describes you? Posted: 8/8/2007 8:39:00 PM | bright eyes "landlocked blues"
and the world's got me dizzy again you'd think after 22 years I'd be used to the spin and it only feels worse when I stay in one place so I'm always pacing around or walking away I keep drinking the ink from my pen and I'm balancing history books up on my head but it all boils down to one quoteable phrase "If you love something give it away" A good woman will pick you apart a box full of suggestions for your possible heart But you may be offended, and you may be afraid but don't walk away, don't walk away
or
the weepies "simple life"
Can i get up in the moming Put the kettle on Make us some coffee, say "hey" to the sun... Is it enough to write a song and sing it to the birds? They'd hear just the tune Not understand my love for words But you would hear me and know I want only this, I want to live I want to live a simple life.
...but it changes frequently
