I all truth, when I want to perk myself up, I put on some happy 60s folk music such as PP&M, Kingston Trio, The Limelighters, the Crickets, Harry Belafonte... Fun lyrics with a lively beat and people who are actually smiling while they are singing and stumming their guitars and banjos. Great music for cleaning the house!   | |

You really need to add Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and Tom Paxton to that. While I've only shook hands with two of those three I know they are all great to listen to. And, oh yeah, let's not forget Sarah Lee Guthrie and Abe Guthie. There's another generation and we're all better for it.

My birds seem to favor Steppenwolf when their songs come on the oldies station, and they seem happy too. | |

There are lots of happy songs, but this is my all time favorite.
I have a little parrot (Cordel Beakman Spoiled C 0 ckatiel Extraordinaire, "Cordy" for short) who sings a little melody when he is in a good mood or wants to get my attention because he knows that it pleases me. It is very melodic and brings a smile to the faces of all who hear it. He has brought me out of a funk many times. It is as fun to watch as it is to hear because his beak gets moving and he bobs his head in time.
He and I both like Diana Krall, even though she sometimes sings of angst, her voice is amazing. | |
