recently read an article about "gut feelings" or "intuition" that basically said our brains absorb information at such a phenomenal rate(everything from all 5 senses) we have problems understanding and deciphering the info we're recieving but like an anti-virus program it may not know exactly what the problem/good fortune is just that there is one.
Love that explanation!
Although in some situations you 'sense' something that the 5 senses could not possibly be receiving. I remember this day at work, I was really anxious and kept saying to my colleagues that something was not right....and I asumed it was work related, so I was agonising over what I might have forgotten, or done wrong, and was literally pacing trying to put my finger on what was bothering me. I just couldn't work it out. Turns out my husband had had a car accident, and when he called later to tell me my brain seemed to have an instinctive "Ah THAT'S what it is" reaction. No way I could have known that from my 5 senses. Always had stuff like that going on with him.

Posted: 6/22/2007 3:30:16 AM | | You could say gut feeling,i call it my 6th sence.I was reversing along the road i'm constructing when i didn't feel right and out of my blind spot cruised this car.I only had 15 meters to stop in witch i managed to stop in time. The point is i'd slowed down early this time and was only travelling at 20 klh.Normally at that point i'm doing more like 45 klh and if i was going that fast i could not of stopped in time.Shakes me up,people have no idea how close they come when you are dealing with heavy machinery.Things like that happen all the time at work, something just tells you to stop.

I can also get 'feelings' about people or events and have had sleepless nights knowing someone is in some sort of trouble. I also say a fortune on phone calls. Very frequently, I think of ringing a friend and next thing they call me.

hasn't let me, or others that i know trust it , down to date.

It's not necessarily something we'd recognize on a conscious level....thus the check we feel in our gut, but it's valid nevertheless. It always pays to 'listen' or take note of these 'not quite right' feelings. Personally speaking, doing so has stopped me from sliding back into keeping company with ppl in places that have led to disaster for me in the past. It IS recognition on a deeper level, and understanding on that same level. A gut level.

| That inner gut feeling............. Posted: 7/15/2007 1:33:42 PM | I get really strong vibes about people and have done from when I was very young.
My Mum would always tell me I wasn't giving people a fair go and letting myself get to know them.
Well I listened to my Mum and it has got me in some hot water over the years.
Now I listen to my gut instinct, vibes, intuition I get about a person. It has never lead me wrong since.
I can take a total dislike to someone at the first meeting. I have no idea why it happens but believe it happens for a reason. Other times I can talk on the phone and meet face to face and just think the person is wonder and will become a great friend.
I guess some of us have this gift for a reason.

| That inner gut feeling............. Posted: 7/16/2007 5:37:59 PM | Trust your instincts - for the most part, it is the only part of us that is in touch with the reality of a situation.
I've had enough situations happen to me over the years to know that if I ignore what my instincts say I will probably pay and pay dearly for being ignorant.
My last ignorance cost me dearly - let's just say that had I NOT ignored them I wouldn't have ended up in the hospital with a concussion, cracked ribs, a black eye, and dislocated jaw. All given in the name of "LOVE" - so, go with your guts!!
