i do agree with you alot on that. its all in how they mic the amps and amp placement. plus a good pa is needed. the thing is there are soo many layers in the music. it has alot of substance and stands out! most metal bands and such have alot of low end and more about rhythm. its very very tough to get a good live sound. its what separates the men from the boys.

i have seen muse, sigur ros, tool and arctic monkeys live and had the BEST spot from which to see and experience these bands (up front and backstage/side)

honestly they all did nothing for me. perhaps because their music sounds so damn dark brooding and serious and has no uplifitng parts to it. none that i heard anyway. umm arctic monkeys have probably been the worst band ive seen in recent times. lol!

I have to agree about the sentiments about the level of musicianship these days.

I know there are still guys out there who can play. Beats me where they're hiding though. I offered to do a power trio instrumental thing doing Satriani, Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert stuff for an event and was basically told it would really stick out like a sore thumb in comparison to the other bands. Wasn't welcome there and they suggested I find a shredder event. And this was supposed to be a Guitar Appreciation night?? Wasn't impressed that I was being crapped on by guys barely able to manage a 1rst position B chord.
