I cringe at the fact the mental health is in the dark ages in this county. I HAD a very beautiful friend who was bipolar and some nut convinced her that if she was saved and just beleive in Jesus she would be better... nough said...
This nut have a hard time doing the chick on the antidepressant thing is showing a lack of education. Psychology 101 that is a requirement of any 1st year college student would have taught him that most mental health problems are due to a chemcial imbalance.

| what do guys think of girls who take antidepressants? Posted: 7/22/2007 7:57:52 PM | I'm a guy and think its harmless for girls who take antidepressants. I feel that it helps everyone out somehow with emotional problems and give the brain vitamins to have more control and think more clearly than being very depressed. To tell the truth, I am a guy who takes antidepressants also and feel that it goes both ways for guys and girls to need to take medications. I would enjoy meeting someone on here looking for friendship and want to get to know each other. In my opinion, it helps you think better in ways you couldn't without medication and to be strong in everyday life. Good luck to all of you out there in the sea. | |

Posted: 7/23/2007 12:23:59 PM | | due to the stigma of mental illness in the world today, most people think negatively of it or any mental illness. you wont change the mind of a moron, so why bother? find someone who is informed and educated and forget about the cavemen/women.

I have dated girls on medication, and its usually not a problem unless they're the type to constantly forget to take them, or pick them up. Then a few days go by, sometimes a week or so and things get real unbearable...

| what do guys think of girls who take antidepressants? Posted: 8/12/2007 4:55:50 AM | I was with a high readiness unit in Canada for 4 yrs ,on call 24/7 it took its toll on many men in that unit, and I can tell you they take nothing but the most fit and mentally stable people...it hit me like a ton of bricks, I can honestly say the medication saved my life....for 6 months I was in a place I did not want to be (Medicated) I was not myself...I stopped taking the meds on my own and started to get my poop in a group... that was 4 yrs ago... I had dated a lady that was on anti meds...hence the 3 breakups in 2-3 yrs of our relationship... not everyone reacts the same so I would approach a realtionship with caution with anyone that was on medication...just be honest and let the person know...it would give more understanding as to why people are acting the way they are... have a nice day fellow fishies... | |

| what do guys think of girls who take antidepressants? Posted: 8/12/2007 7:22:52 AM | | i myself take antidepressants, so i would have no problem meeting a girl who took them, i think it comes down to understanding eachother, and supporting the fact that the person in question has obviously had a hard life, and is trying to work things out. some people will be more understanding than others, but if someone wont even try to understand or accept u, they are just not worth knowing. | |

hey. yeah, surprise surprise. I'm on antidepressants. Have been for two years now. I'm getting off them slowly but it's hard, ok?
just curious, how many men think antidepressants are a deal breaker?
i know a lot of guys out there are wary of 'crazy' females...but isn't it better if we have it under control?
Discuss.
It's not a deal breaker, but it is a red flag.
I'm not much into this prescription drug cure for all mentality that society has turned to in the last few decades.
Figure out what from your past is the problem in your mind, why it is a problem for you, creating the imbalance and deal with it, once you've done so, the medicine should no longer be neccesary

| what do guys think of girls who take antidepressants? Posted: 8/12/2007 9:31:16 AM | I'm on the antianxiety medication, Paxil
I went most of my life without it as I didn't know there was help for me
I feel wonderful now - there's no need to suffer when there's help out there

| what do guys think of girls who take antidepressants? Posted: 8/12/2007 9:37:53 AM | | completely irrelevant IMO. It's the behaviour rather than the pills I'd be concerned about. Are you blaming your b/f? Are you attacking people? Depression can be cured, and it can happen to anyone. At least you had the brains to get help. Some of the nicest people I know have taken them. | |

| what do guys think of girls who take antidepressants? Posted: 8/12/2007 9:41:50 AM | | I'd applaud and welcome any woman who was strong enough to face her issues and get healthy...I've dated soooooo many who could have used a little bit of time on the couch or at least some kind of investment in self awareness and improvement. I know all too well how difficult it is right now for those of us coping with mood disorders...and believe me it's exponentially more difficult when you're a man. | |

Seeking treatment is seen as a sign of strength not weakness! How many people have lost a loved because of suicide.Medication got me back on" An Even Keel".Do believe there is a very good book called "On an Even Keel"It talks of a husband helping his wife overcome depression.Thank you for being here!Tiggerangel

Posted: 8/16/2007 5:00:03 AM | Thank you for your comment.Abe Lincoln,Paeblo Picasso,Margo Kidder,Patty Duke Austin and Jane Pauley are all famous people who have lived with Bi-Polar Mood Disorder! It is a disorder caused by the lack of a chemical in the brain. To understand what it is like you would have to live with it or lost someone you loved very much to suicide because of it!

| what do guys think of girls who take antidepressants? Posted: 1/17/2008 1:03:21 PM | well, of course im not a guy but i have been reading some of these messages on here... some of you guys are a little shallow... there are so many people in this world that do abuse the thought and the fact that they take antidepressants.. doctors also... those people are usually the ones that also do other forms of drugs to keep them occupied until the next script comes in... those people need to get a grip on their life.. realize what they are doing to themselves... though there are others that do need medication to help control the way they think... im not talking about things like bypolar disorder.. everyone has that in their own way... just learn how to control your anger.. for real.. but some are very mentally unstable... they can go to where they work and just look at everyone and want to cry because of the way they see them.. it comes in many different forms and everyone is different but some need antidepressants. to all the guys that would rather have a girl off antidepressants you may not want to be careful and review everything that goes on in your relationship because if a girl gets depressed over somthing in yalls relationship and don't get something to help her get through it then well... suxs for u... no it don't always resort to medication. it could be solved through a best friends help but it won't always be that easy....and a person don't have to stay on medication for the rest of their life. just until they are mentally stable again.....i appologize to all that disagree. but we all have a different opinions.. im not a guy and i do not like females but this is my opinion.. i do not take antidepressants but i have in my past.. and to those who believe you can solve deppression by just telling a person to think a different way... your on crack... that is what they need to do but a person can't just change the way thier mind works. thats like telling a pregnant female to not be emotional.. come on now... be realistic.. i don't recomend it to anyone that can pull themselves out... i don't believe that everyone that says they are truly unstable in their mind are and need to be taking meds... to sumarize this... i do think that their are some in this world that can be and have been helpd through meds. | |
