So you plan to pollute our beautiful country? Fair enough, to each their own. I'm probably going to smoke a big joint rolled in a maple leaf, and drink an over abundance of alchohol.
How totally rude and uncompassionate of you! Some people who are grieving need to find a way to vent their feelings, this helps them heal. Shame on you for being a meanie. I think the balloon idea is a great tribute.
After sleeping in.................... I plan to finish my gardening, which I did not get done on the weekend! May go to Rocky Point for a free piece of cake and enjoy the festivities there.
Happy Canada Day everyone!

| What are YOU doing on Canada day? Posted: 6/30/2008 8:29:10 PM | | Happy Canada Day everyone. So much to celebrate as we are so lucky. I finally got the front flower beds finished today so now I can just water them and watch them bloom for the rest of the summer. I'm going to start the day tomorrow by going down to St. Vincent de Paul and helping with a Canada Day breakfast for street people. Cheers!!! | |

| What are YOU doing on Canada day? Posted: 6/30/2008 10:20:45 PM | | I'm gonna be in Langley at McLeod Park for the whole thing. I spent all day today enduring the 30*+ sun. I'm with Rahn's Black Belt Academy, so I get to have a tent (near the food no less, and with a good view of the main stage0. I'll be there ALL day tomorrow, from early morning right until after the fireworks. It should be good fun! | |

Actually although the timing was all wrong, I bit my tongue and sat on my fingers because I had the exact same reaction to the first poster when I read that. Any idea HOW MANY animals, marine and land/avian die each year from ingesting balloons? ( No I don't have a stat but even one is too high) Perhaps blowing bubbles or releasing doves might be a better idea.
OT: Parade, park, fireworks.

| What are YOU doing on Canada day? Posted: 7/1/2008 11:42:03 AM | Sunday found me on my balcony for about 4 hours, chilled white wine, lot's of great classic tunes coming out of the iPod and just recharging in that sun. Got myself some great color.
I imagine Tuesday will be the same idea. I worked 7 very intense hours last night, so I'm making sure today is again about recharging. That's one of the things I love about working hard at my jobs, it's so guilt free and feeling deserved when your just laying in the sun and relaxing.
By the way ladies, there's room for two on that balcony...(wink)

| What are YOU doing on Canada day? Posted: 7/1/2009 7:37:20 AM | Sadly nothing planned......
No kids around this year and not camping so at a loss at what to do on my own.
I am not one to just attend a parade by myself or wander about aimlessly downtown in a crowd.
hmmmmmm.... problem is I require a 'Partner in Crime' to get the mojo going an in the festive mood. I might head out to the beach....take my blankie and my book and relax today....not like I need to work on my tan, but I will find a nice shady tree.
Happy Canada Day everyone...and for you Oldies but Goodies...Happy Dominion Day! OHHHHHHHHHHHH OHHHHHHHHHHHH Canada .... I love ya!

| What are YOU doing on Canada day? Posted: 7/1/2009 7:43:43 AM | I am going to "Jazz Vespers" at the Wesley United Church on Burrard and Davie. Bill Sample (an incredible pianist and fixture in the jazz scene here for more than thirty years) is playing with an ensemble of equally talented people from noon to 1 pm today. I'd rather not go alone (it will be packed) but, I am NOT going to let that stop me from going! I work after that and then, I have a house party at the home of a bunch of wanton vixens I often work with and if you don't hear from me after that, they locked me in the closet for having "no sense of humour"! | |
|
| What are YOU doing on Canada day? Posted: 7/1/2009 9:15:21 AM | | I was all set to go for a good long bike ride around Stanley Park and maybe the north shore ... then I remembered there's a parade on today. I guess I better check the route before I head out, wouldn't want to get caught in crowds. Maybe Steveston instead. | |

| What are YOU doing on Canada day? Posted: 7/1/2009 4:10:01 PM | I climbed one of the trails at Grouse Mountain, had an early lunch at Taylor's Crossing in North Vancouver. Checked out Canada Day Festivities at Richmond Park in Burnaby but were too late to check out the band Rainshadow. I am proudly wearing my Canada Day Maple Leaf on my cheek, played bingo and watched everyone having fun at the Dunk Tank. Getting some rest before heading to the Elephant and Castle for dinner with a meet up group and then going to watch the fireworks at Canada Place.
Back to work tomorrow.
I hope everyone has fun today enjoying being a Canadian. It sure makes me proud!

| What are YOU doing on Canada day? Posted: 7/1/2009 7:07:11 PM | Well lemme see now........
First up I'll have to run my rediculously high land tax cheque down to the rediculously overpaid City Hall morons... Then I'll watch some irresponsible parent who allowed her 3 yr old with a freezie to play with an unknown dog alone in a back yard rant and rave on the news why this dog should be executed because it bit the child for taking the freezie away from it .... Then I'll ponnder just how lucky the little girl was that survived that plane crash.....the only one.... Well it's off to complete the day with a BBQ........

| What are YOU doing on Canada day? Posted: 7/1/2009 8:56:56 PM | I saw the Freezie/dog story on the news too and wrote one of those big cheques also.
Back to the dog . . . that News story was confusing. I found myself changing sides. All I can say is that most dogs would not bite that hard . . . 100 stitches plus . . . if a kid was sharing a freezie with it through the fence and pulled it back. The problem is or was is that it was a mastiff that inflicted the bite, another aggressive type of breed.
The kid's face is a mess and he may have lost some vision in one of his eyes. I am not sure what the answer is. I need more information.

| What are YOU doing on Canada day? Posted: 7/2/2009 2:25:04 AM | | Well today I went to the Cloverdale get together with my friend, her father, her fathers girlfriend, and her niece but her father's girlfriend is the kind of person that has to be busy doing things at all times. So as usual we didn't stay there long even though I wanted to sit and listen to the music. So I decided to come home and go to the local park but unfortunately there was nothing happening in the park so I just sat outside on my balcony and listened to the fireworks. (I couldn't watch them because the trees were in the way) | |
