Smoking Ban for Smokers to gloat about.

Its all relative really. No matter how frugal your mode of transport, there is always someone more frugal.

Which is my point entirely. We are all ban happy. If someone doesn't fit our definition of "OK", people want them banned. If I want to drive a motorcycle with no helmet, that should be MY choice, not yours. There are limits to this of course, since I wouldn't want to make it legal and acceptable to take heroin, etc, since other peoples lives would then be at stake. But, cigarette smoking is no worse than the vehicles that I have to put up with, on my way to work.

On a side note, a 90mpg and an 85mpg vehicle owner are NOT going to be complaining about each other, so let's get real here. There is a HUGE difference in the 8 MPG Dodge Big Horn and the amount of junk coming out of the exaust, and an 85 mpg Honda Insight. It's large enough that I should be advocating banning, but yet, I won't, since it's still a free world, in many places, or at least, we say it's free. I find it hard to accept this "new world", since freedom is quite fleeting and changes with the wind from day to day.

Bottom line point is, if you are an advocate of smoking bans and drive a gas guzzler, I can't wait till someone bans your too fricken big vehicle that pollutes MY AIR. Oh wait, that will never happen, since the people at the top want us to drive gas guzzlers. More money to play with that way.

When do I get my say to BAN every vehicle that doesn't get over 50 mpg, that is being used for basic to/from work transportation?

The difference is there are reasons for using a car. Cars get people from A to B. A being home and B being work, or the shops or some sort of entertainment. Cigarettes have no positive effect whatsoever.

I agree that cars which cause excessive polution should be tackled all the same.

You must have missed the rest of my post. I know what cars are for and that there is a difference between a car and cigarrette smoking. The rest of my post clearly stated that I don't condone banning anything. Unlike the ban happy people who ban anything that doesn't fit into there ideal of what is right. Bahh, it's pointless to discuss this anyway, since the freedom's we once had, are being stripped away, piece by piece, at this very moment, and there seems to be only a few, who really care about freedom. But hey, as long as there are no smokers, that should make everyone happy. At least until they find something new to complain about and get that banned, like non-missionary sex. Oh wait, that's already a law in many US states. OK, then how about no speaking negatively against your local government(monitors placed in your home). That should give plenty of you "ban happy people" something to complain about, when you are satisfied with your present crusade for what is right.
