Posted: 8/5/2007 1:34:19 PM | I'm an INFJ, and I've never tried dating by Myers-Briggs results. I've heard that that is what's behind EHarmony "secret dating formula". But, look at it this way, the Myers-Briggs was made by a pair of shrinks. Shrinks are worse than getting advice from a friend. A friend's advice is based upon experiences that they've had, a shrinks advice is based up on THEORIES that someone else had. So do what feels right, and don't worry about all this other crap.

With all due respect if you are indeed "thin" put a picture of yourself up. Sorry for sounding harsh but does that tell you why a scientist might have problems with how you portray yourself? | |

^^^ I don't know if I agree with this. I would like a link to some direct information that would say my exact opposite, the ISFJ, is actually my personality match and why (as opposed to purchasing the information).
When I try to provide links, PoF moderators delete them and accuse me of spamming. Just put in "Please Understand Me" into Google and it will give you the links to it.
The Keirsey descriptions alone of our personality show many areas which would lead to direct conflict and constant misunderstanding. I've read a lot about personalities and this is the first time I've heard my complete opposite would be my match.
As Keirsey is the author of the book to which I gave the title and the one that talks about opposite personalities attracting and complimenting, I don't know what you've read that would say otherwise. Personality type is based on Jungian personality theory. Read up on Carl Jung and his theory of psychology.
I looked at lists of supposed ISFJs and I can't say I've felt any attraction to any of them however there were a few on that list who I profoundly disagree with politically and attitude wise.
First, your opposite isn't ISFJ. It is ISTJ.
Second, while SJs tend to be more conservative than other types, there is no hard and fast rule on this. For example, my younger brother is an ISFJ and he's a long-time Democrat.
Third, go out and meet your opposites who are of the sex you seek. Don't make judgments based on famous ones they think were/are ISTJs. You can very well not get along with a female ISTJ but strongly click with a male ISTJ. | |
