| 17 and 3/4 year old girl wants a tattoo .. HELP? Posted: 6/8/2008 2:17:17 PM | I got a tattoo this year, I am 32. I picked out what I wanted and thought on it for 2 years. I feel since I didn't change my mind in 2 years, it was time. Maybe you should suggest something like this. Tell her to pick what she thinks she wants and see if she still wants it in 2 years. Post a picture of it on her bulletin board or on the back of her door so she can look at it every day. My sister got a tattoo when she was 21 and is very sad she did. She is even considering having it removed. We never realize when we are young how our spontaneous decisions will effect us when we get older.
Remember to make it her decision... you know how we were when we were almost 18! lol. As far as your ex is concerned... whatever she does at 18 is her "adult" choice. You have no control over her at that point and he will get over it. If not, shame on him.
I wish you the best. Please keep us updated.

| 17 and 3/4 year old girl wants a tattoo .. HELP? Posted: 6/8/2008 5:30:36 PM | Definately talk to her about it, placement, something tasteful, or a unique piece - maybe even one of her own creations... my daugther is 8 and is already talking about her first tattoo (I have 3 myself)... I would much rather my daughter be honest with me so I can make sure she is having it done in a safe clean place than letting one of her friends do it at a party sometime...
And... as long as she's a good kid i think i would much rather my daughter have a tattoo or two than be involved in drugs...

| 17 and 3/4 year old girl wants a tattoo .. HELP? Posted: 6/8/2008 5:34:25 PM | Most of my siblings had left home and were working regular jbs by the age of 17.
During the Korean war the USA was recruiting 16 year old boys and isssuing them with machine guns. Thats the responsibility of life and death, in the hands of a 16 year old boy.
Does your tattoo problem suddenly seem kinda petty.???

| 17 and 3/4 year old girl wants a tattoo .. HELP? Posted: 6/8/2008 6:37:22 PM | | Be glad that she told you about her wish to get a tattoo as she's almost 18 she could have just waited and then gone out and got one. My daughter want one to and we have had many conversations about it. She understands that they are for good and that she needs to have a very clear idea of her choice we talked about locatation on her body for her first tattoo as I have a number of tattoo's I suggested that the upper part of her leg around her hip would be a good place as she can hide it if she wishes and as it's her first that part of the body it doesnt hurt a great deal as there would be nothing worse for her to only be able to stand it for a short time then to stop when it's only half finished. I think that we should count ourselves lucky as our childern talk to us about these things or anything for that matter. As for your ex he can't blame you as your child will be 18 it's her choice all we can do as parents is be there for them and teach them that we all have to live with the chioce's we make and not blame other's cause at the end of the day it's up to them to make their own choice. | |

| 17 and 3/4 year old girl wants a tattoo .. HELP? Posted: 6/8/2008 6:40:14 PM | When I was 16, I wanted a tattoo.. I bugged the days lights out of my parents.. My mother wasn't upto but my father was all for it. All 3 of sat down and discuss what I would get. the pro and cons, where it was going to located.. etc.. after an hour of talking I still wanted a tattoo but I also had put more thought into it. I got a heart tattoo on my chest.. Its cute and I love it too this day.. I even add a few more too.. But I do believe there a limit, but again it depends on the person.. I'm going to have one more and then thats it. If my son comes to me when he's 16 I would sit down and talk about let him think about first and if he still wants one i'll take him to the nearest tattoo parlor.. | |
