Empower me with what it is that brings one out from within,
the place where life has disconfigured all my hopes , my songs
The deepest darkest hopes and fears lie still there in my space
they wallow and they seep and bake....and sometimes make my face.

Enlighten me with something new , something lovely is the clue.
A delicate picture of another place , another smile..another face.
Surely in this life, tis hard to reach within and dream
yet without this hope and meaning...darkness is what it seems.

Within the soul are many things...we often don't display.
Grasp the light....pull out your hearts desire to play.
Seek the things your soul hopes and yearns for again.
Knowing the darkness deepest pains..........
We find beauty and darkness wanes.

A piece of me
Leaving of me
Only to return

And you stand here
Watching in patients
Knowing that the revelation is nigh
Knowing that the revolution is in me
Knowing that the spirit will heal
That of me
And only God knows why

Jules...that is a profoundly beautiful poem. I'll try to paint something pretty just for you later today.

Joshua...I hear and feel you. When the time is right, it will be.

well, someone has to bring a leaning pizza ha

I bought batteries for my camera today
there are so many things that I see that I need to convey
from spider's nest to the widow's grave
I really don't have anything to say
but, I'll try
I just don't know where to go

my thoughts go out to the cowboy shows
wake up in the middle of the night and nothing is on
yanno?
old cowboy shows...

I missed my era by about a hundred years
always dust in my mouth needing washed out by a beer
rustlers busted heading down south with a few unbranded steer
100 pesos in tiajuana and the hangman turns to shoot the other conspiritor
and the weejee board was invented by our savior
I have to learn how to speak spanish...weejee looks funny
yanno?

WOMAN WITH HAT

My beloved wife
THEY say I disfigured her.

Green and yellow skin with streaks of sky and mandarin
Garish, blue and red feathered hat, daubing dress
Unheard of Fauvist, bestial, but THEY
do not see the euphoric collision of color
that maps her beauty all the more

I will raise the curtains, show them
the joy of life through the curves of
women as asymmetrical shapes in the sky
lovers celebrating a blade of turquoise grass
dreamers lined in lavender and Venetian red
sweep them into the dancer’s dance
the cut-out blue bodies of golden stars

I have always painted the world
swaddled in bold, bright, illogical color
A red robin lays a blue egg
As nature laughs at boundaries,
even now, confined to this iron chair,
so do I.

I do not trust men
who have nothing
in their hands
but weapon
be it hammar
or sword
or pen that
seeks to dominate
no man will know
me intimately
who cannot turn
stone to statue
or sand into glass
has not learned
strength is in
the feather that
conquers every wind
these men i
will consecrate
in my chalice
my faith

I have always lived in Paris.

SR the new picture is indeed hot.

But the poems are stunning. In fact I'm not sure if you're a better painter or poet, only sure you are truly gifted at each ...very gifted.

I mean that.

All is well in hell

Just kidding luv...couldn't resist the rhyme

OK I'm off to meet with the mayor. He's put me in charge of renaming all the streets in this er hem wonderful city of ours. I've already renamed Main St. It's now known as The Sweet Whore's Promenade. My heart simply swelled with pride the other day when I overheard a preacher saying his flock was thinking of moving his church from Gordon Avenue to The Sweet Whore's Promenade. Of course he may change his tune when he learns that I've renamed Gordon Ave. It's now known as The Left Buttock Of The Self-Important Man. Nice ring dontcha think. Of course we need longer street signs now. Wait till they found out I'm renaming Elm street. It's soon to be renamed as Poe's poem The Conquerer Worm ...the entire poem.

Hey BM, what a surprise! Thanks for stopping by. Your encouragement of my finger paintings is truly appreciated.

Things here in Paris are still much the same. Beautiful, inspiring and well…you know starry nights, good food, good wine, walks along the Seine, the ancient architecture and best of all….the wonderful camaraderie of like minded friends.

Didn’t think we would hear from you since you left no forwarding address when you moved. I know hell is a very busy place with all those damned souls constantly weeping and wailing and gnashing and writhing. Always wanting more from you. Never satisfied. It must be tiring and I’m sure, comforting them takes up a lot of your time. I suppose there are some perks that come with that though. Enjoy your conquering strolls down Sweet Whore Promenade. Don’t be such a stranger in the future.

ATHENS

It's always been Athens for me

" It was the first Greek word I learned : nero ( water) and a beautiful word it is. Night was coming on and the islands were looming up in the distance, always floating above the water, not resisting on it. The stars came out with magnificent brilliance and the wind was soft and cooling. I began to get the feel of it at once , what Greece was, what it had been , what it will always be."

Extract from:" The Colossus of Maroussi" by Henry Miller

The Greek men, squatting in front of children having tantrums,
eye to eye, all gorgeous reasonableness. . . .

Or feeding the baby at table, while Mama takes a break. . . .

When a Greek man sez, I want to talk to you: he means it -- but he listens, too. But also means, when we're done talking, then let's make love. But I love that he wants to talk first.

And everywhere, outside, and next to you instant by instant is Greece's past: huge pillars lying inside chainlinked fields, outside your restaurant window, at the bus stop.

And the sidewalks of Athens are marble.

And while Ouzo isn't Absinthe, nevertheless, the poetry of a Greek sun equals anything Paris ever produced.

And a Greek man in a tank top, smelling like his horse, feeling like Zorba. . . . I wish I'd never learned to say no in Greek.

Oh....L., can I come? Search the Mount of Olympus.....and the heart of Aphrodite???? I have her heart...just have never found her soul! Couldn't ever find it here in OHIO~

To travel the places where life all began.....
people and places where life was a sin!
For beautiful men....enjoyed beautiful women!
Where a body of softness....was utterly human!
Ladies of bodies...beauty abounded....
Men with lust....and they felt....things quit astounding....
magic...and stars.....worlds we have never known!
This to me ...sounds like life....ultimatley......
wonderful....
men of such style.....
and life.....
no silliness.........
To them the gift..........
is a lady......
one true...
one soul!

L'oeil du taureau

Trumpets sound the beginning and the end

I am the Matador
draped in French cuffed suit of lights,
prodding judgement
with hair tipped swords and
razor sharp ferocity

Burning the canvases of blue poverty
a harlequin circus unfolds pink
to fired brown clay
the dancing toes disengage
cubed cut bodies of art scattered

Engulfing Paris in surrealism
Guernica tumbled my soul and I became
The windmill dreamer with lance and rose
A bronze baboon to withered ears

Waving amour’s stained cape to estocada
fathering innocent bystanders
I lived my glory days reflected
in the eye of the bull

A tiny diversion from Paris....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wiper Blades

You would think that after
countless years spent
wiping tears from my face
I would be a pro

But last night
I thought about his hands
And wondered if he could
show me where
the off switch is

A Theory

Smokey bedroom
Crystal blue liquid
Emerald isles
Amber pools
Eyes
We search them
get lost in them
dream of them
sing to them
dance in them
believe them

What if, eyes are not windows
but artful shapeshifters,
tricksters, illusionists
the prestige that
mesmerizes and confuses

How do the blind find truth
if it speaks through the eyes
If crypts are buried deeper
than the conscience
will allow

Perhaps to find truth
You must close your eyes
alert your skin
and touch insight

Athens is burning
Apollos revenge
When Isis was murdered
by Demeters men,
Athens is burning
the olives and wine
villages blackened
from memories time.
Athens is burning
all Greece is on fire
Mary remembers
that Zeus is a liar.

I thought it was all about the culture

I erected my easel, because of the view
painting away as my weasel awkwardly grew
putting pressure on my brain, more and more, as the canvas changed hues
then I remembered that it's okay, here, to paint in the nude...

arf ... I might even be part spaniel
