GOOD DAY GOOD EVENING

It's night be the flame
And the red that colors the clouds
Good day sir Good evening madam
You don't look your age

What does it matter if your embraces
Make the twin stars bleed
What does it matter if your face is painted
if hoarfrost glitters on the branches

Of granite or marble
Your age will show
And the shade of the great trees
will walk on your graves.

THE POET’S GREAT DAYS

The disciples of light have never invented anything but a not very opaque darkness.
The river rolls the small body of a woman and that means the end is near.
The widow in her wedding dress heads the wrong procession; we all will arrive late
at our graves. A ship of flesh gets stuck on a narrow beach. The helmsman asks the passengers
to be quiet.
The waves are waiting impatiently closer my Lord to Thee. The helmsman asks the waves to speak. They speak. The night seals its bottles with stars and makes a fortune exporting them. Large counters are built to sell nightingales. But they can't satisfy the Queen
of Siberia's desires, who wants white nightingales. A British commodore swears they won't ever take him out again at night to pick sage
between the feet of salt statues. Upon this, a little saltcellar Cerberus gets on his thin hind legs with difficulty. He
empties into my plate what is left of my life. What to salt the Pacific Ocean with? You'll put a life saver on my grave. Because one never knows.

Charlie

I know an eagle
He has a peaceful home in the woods
fenced to keep two and four legged
predators out, no rooftop, no need,
he hasn’t flown in forty years
He is looked in on every day
Fed, pitied and then left
in solitude to reflect
a time before the bullet

I felt close to Charlie this week
so I sat with him for a while
watching as he instinctively
hopped from branch to branch
trying to reach the highest perch
But it’s never more than
five feet off the ground and
I wonder if he remembers
tree tops and warm thermals
drifting so high he was a speck
instead of a spectacle

Yet, he appears content and
for my own induction, I
make believe it’s true
he still lifts a ghost wing
and phantom feathered flies
Cause if Charlie can do it
so can I

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
he still lifts a ghost wing
and phantom feathered flies
Remarkable!
I busted my finger a couple weeks ago
it never did start to heal
so, I set it myself yesterday
It feels great today
skipped the xray ordeal
that's the kind of man I am
yet scared of a needle
smoke six packs of cigs and avoid xrays
and I do my own calderizing
no stitches...I use superglue
I don't even have a scar
amazing, huh
I was just contemplating how to cut up this oak on my fence
bought a new chain for the saw today and thought of you, of course
and I forgot to get bandaids
wanna hold the ladder for me?
I often cut off the wrong branch
end up sawdust covered on my ass
and I thought of you
miss you too
All Grown Up
When I was a fledging star child
I would trace cut-out wings in the clouds
and smile knowing someday,
I would fly
And I do.
My eyes pre-flight
mount the hawk’s back and
as I cast us into the unknown
leaving an envious gauntlet
stitched to a leather life
we escape into
freedom
and the star child
smiles
Whether Sophia is here or Snot!
I am gonna Fingerpaint! and I don't want no shite!
I am gonna paint a picture of something , I see!
And if nobody likes it...welll shit ....just me!
Cosmic plumes of reds and blues
traumatize me...lol ...its just hue!
I love to hear your deep colored stories
The way you mesmerize and glory
everything I love to hear!
But...my friend you are not here!
Guess I w3ill dig up poems of past
Make em good and make em last...
Songs of others tantalizing ,
talk of cats on wires walkin'
Nothin' beats the colours you paint!
In my mind , stories building!
Here is a sweet story for you...
While you work and paint and chew...on this!lol
Happy is as happy does...friends are few
and far above!@
Kind is all the words you send!
Sure wish you would send em...soon my friend!
Hiya Sophia....droppin' in to Paint with my silly fingers....or imagination which ever is first!
Frosted daffodills enlighten
droopin' like my last encounter
Sunny day once here ...then gone
Rain it pounds upon the ground
Lifting hope for a new Summer
Makes me smile, though now I shudder
Painting pictures in my mind
what I hope, what's left behind
Hope so much for blooming heart
she paints a picture in the dark
Deepens as she reads and feels it
something like a storybook
Wunderland is my last hope
where daffodills never...mope!
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.....
Spring '08
the world so sunlight
so green
the smell of wet
is all around
turned earth
fecund
it calls to ripen
fling the seed
that begs to sprout
and breed....
breed
Lurkers
giggles heard in the ethers
background singers do wopping to each catchy rhythm
inside jokers and unspoken knowings
fleeting fancies
and warm hello's rolling through the cybers
of space.
Truly this lack of fingerpainting has been depressing and its about time our hostess returns and brings back the strawberry fields and dancing feathers.
It’s April in May
Much like any other day
The grass coated in a downy layer
Of cool moisture
Licked on
Haphazardly
By springs reluctance to shed her clothes
I forget how to breathe or
Taste the blossoms on my tongue
I’m caught in a wasteland of defunct rhetoric
Can’t seem to shake the lethargy
As the garage door glides open each morning
And I step out into the sunlight
Instead of saying, “good morning world” in anticipation
I’m dragging my compliance off to work
Wishing for the weekend
Languishing in the thought
That the world might turn into a gigantic space ship
Of bursting energy
To carry me off on a soma holiday.
L.
Clouds of colour
rip my mind...
soft and dark and
undefined!
Too much black
to make a picture
driftin' off in another direction
And...she wonders
"Is it mine...? "
Godamn life is undefined!
Wanna make a picture
Black and White...
I am the winner!
Hi Wooby, Brawny, Brizo, Ravin, Mmmmmy, Autumn (hope I haven't forgotten anyone) Thanks for keeping this thread going while I took a little break. You are all fabulous!
Stick and Stay
I struggle with aspiration. Green days
lush as the labyrinth that spires,
others black as a graphite pencil
dissecting a weave - and sometimes
my head detaches but,
you stay with me because
somewhere between the
green rain and grenades,
the erotic left and the
benign right, you know
even a bird with wax wings
can pierce the sky.
I painted blueskies
over dark matter,
and watched it bleed through,
like a silken transparency,
invisible to it's own illusion,
yet, somehow, recreating
itself, installing a new reality
on the canvas
of life.
great one, mandrake
lol yoko.. I wondered when you were going to waltz down the circular stairs
a grand entrance :D
I'm gonna shoot the ice cream truck driver
he always get's my dogs barking with his music
well, maybe the first time I'll aim for his speaker
then tell him next time he'll be needin' a preacher
I've been a bit tense
goddam ice cream truck got me goin' again
I think I'll have the catch of the day?
and may I see a wine list, please
there's something about the breeze off the bay
you should call the sampler platter "ocean tease"
another dozen on the half shell
a bucket of atlantic crab claws
easterly wind coming off the coast
my only other suggestion is making it optional for clothes
arf darlin
edit: oh, I was gonna slip in something about sis just seeing another monet
up close and personal
art show
egyption one I think she said
Hey Brizo...I missed you (all) too! Don't know how often I'll be able to write but it's good to be home!
Mandrake, thanks and lovely poem. Stop by anytime!!
Hi Puppy: was afraid I was gonna fall ass over tea kettle down those stairs LOL. I recommend a nice Burrowing Owl Chard with that seafood dinner! As for the clothing optional...at my place, no shoes, no service LMAO I once touched a Picasso at the gallery in Toronto and was nearly arrested (it was worth it, I'd do it again). Missed ya!
Canter
She gathers the scattered wind
into her mouth, lifting his
affected eyes above
the vilified clouds.
And when he has eradicated
the last Ferris wheel in the sky
Dulcinea braids her breath
into his ribs and the tin man
on a weary horse tilts.
I love to see you spark up the fireworks with your writes Yoko and it is nice to have one of our own back again. Brawny what if the ice cream truck was driven by a hot woman? We dont have male drivers here just cute little females *grin* Although I have wished a time or two that little tune could be turned down in volume.
why ever for? You rarely place a wrong foot!
I got something for ya, but it rhymes....nearly everything is coming out of my head that way lately, I've stopped trying to stifle it...just hope my prose doesn't suffer...
farmer
the dough won't rise
without the yeast
the plow won't pull
without the beast
the weather is a factor
when you fire up your tractor
so turn your cap
to gap the sun
and make some food
for everyone
I thank you for your labor
when my fork is filled with flavor
and though your truck
drives way too slow
to check your fields
and how they grow
I know
your ceaseless summer work
supplies me with an autumn perk
