Posted: 7/30/2007 7:28:00 AM | Well I dated many heights and ages from petites to 5.11 and found taller ladies get attracted to me as I am 5.7, I think many women fall into the movie trap subconsciously and call it their preference.
If your partner has great personality, mind, witty, caring outlooks that is more important than model type guys / girls whom you going to have problem to keep him/her when other ladies/men run after him/her.

If a man is an arse he'll be an arse whether he is lengthened or shortened and if he is perfect he will be perfect whatever height he is... | |

i really dont feel height should be classed as a stigma it is afterall just a preferance just as us on the shorter side have our own preferances to what we want from a lady, it is only a stigma if you make it one, granted it is deflating if you are chatting to someone and it stops because of your height but hey at least you know where you stand and can move on, there are some who dont care about height[thank god ] it is afterall each to their own | |

If I were the kind of person who was bothered about women being taller than me, then I would probably exclude about 75% of the available ones. As it happens I've had a few girfriends who were between 5'8" and 5'10". A few of those said they wouldn't normally consider someone as short as me, but luckily they saw past the height - or lack thereof.
I know a lot of women like their men to be a bit taller - and you can't force people in or out of their preferences. The heels thing always makes me laugh though.
Seems a bit daft to base your choice of man on what others might think you look like together. Ah well, you can't be all things to all people. Happy fishing! | |

Think its considered the norm and expected to be like that as well. I'm 6ft3 so I dont get that problem, but I know a few women that are 5ft10 and over and one of the criteria they look for is tall. | |

Personally prefer a man to be at least the same height or taller because it makes me feel 'smaller' and that is always good. Maybe it's wrong but taller is equated with strength and protectiveness. I am 5'8" bare footed & I have a huge hang up over dating shorter guys, I've done it in the past and I felt like a big huge freak compared to them, I felt as if i was holding hands with my 12 year old nephew!
I wont date anyone shorter than 5'10" but I prefer them to be 6ft + | |

for those who won't you weren't born with heels!
I'm 5'8" and I'm often told I'm too short, that really annoys when they're my height or less! Obviously 'cos of the heels business.
If they're 5'10 or above - OK that is excusable. Not insurmountable - just use a pair of stilts!
Based on a rough tally : men below 6' and men 6'+ from my location and a 25 mile radius
tall guys (6'+) account for only 35% of POF members, those below 65%.
Not all of them will even be suitable for a given lady, based on their personal criteria and there being a mutual match.
Limiting the range of applicable men, (with a small height difference) is lunacy on a dating site : is staying single because Mr Tall and Handsome/Genuine Guy/Mr Right really a clever option???? | |

Ive dated 6ft8 man and the shortest 5ft lol did look a tad funny but he was a great guy. It shouldnt make a difference if i wanted security id get a burglar alarm, or a brute of a dog to protect me lol
But each ot their own at end of day.
