| What adds flavor to Chicken & Rice? Posted: 6/24/2008 10:53:03 AM | I usually add campbel's cream of chickn soup and a little water. The amount of water depends upon how long it is going to cook. Better to put in too little, you can always add more. After that, then I might add another campbel's soup can of chili pablemo to give it a little kick. You might even want to add some mild peppers.
Good luck. | |

| What adds flavor to Chicken & Rice? Posted: 6/24/2008 12:24:36 PM | | I haven't seen this listed and some of the made from scratch recipes might have the same ingredients as the pre-packaged stuff....I use the little yellow packages of Spanish rice. It's so easy. Just cook and debone the chicken, add it, the spice packet that comes with the rice and the rice itself back to the broth and cook until the rice is tender. LOTS of flavor!!! | |

| What adds flavor to Chicken & Rice? Posted: 6/25/2008 4:08:33 PM | Just made this for tonight. Very good. One that I will be using often, me thinks. My son is coming for supper. Along with this rice dish, we will have a coleslaw and roast garlic/rosemary lamb. Oh, and Merlot wine. And for dessert lemon cheesecake. Usually don't go this elaborate but this son is worth it. Take my word!!!
Thanks love | |

| What adds flavor to Chicken & Rice? Posted: 6/25/2008 5:58:48 PM | did someone say chicken and rice?
I eat rice maybe once a week, but I usually cook it the hispanic way- WELL seasoned. Try these seasonings for either or both the chicken and rice, I usually season the rice with all this and leave the chicken to just garlic salt and pepper. My friends request this dish every now and then:
Every single time I make rice I put this stuff in: Sazon Goya- the orange kind in envelopes useone envelope per 2 cups uncooked rice Garlic Powder salt and pepper to taste Pitted spanish olives and a little olive juice Goya Pigeon Peas (Gandules)- they are little flavorful beans actually CILANTRO- I make a paste of cilantro in a food processor along with green peppers, then I freeze it so I can use it anytime I feel like it. If you do this you will need to rinse the cilantro very well and add a little water in there so it mixes well. A rounded tablespoon or two of tomato paste
Of course i dont really measure anything, and I assure you that aquiring everything to season your rice (except for homemade cilantro paste) is really not time consuming at all. My advice is to taste the water as you have the rice going in the pot and make sure you taste a little bit of everything.

( no longer than 1 hour before cooking it if you are using a citrus marinate as it will burn the chicken). I also find that just before serving the rice if you add fresh lime juice to the rice it is really nice.

| What adds flavor to Chicken & Rice? Posted: 6/26/2008 4:37:58 PM | | Rice usually takes on the flavor you cook it in. If you want something really simple try cooking rice in orange juice. Gives it a tangy flavor without over powering the chicken. | |
