I think everyone can agree that this is a cultural phenomena, as many European women do not shave.
Nope, I won't agree. I talk to men who prefer women with body hair every day from Europe and all agree that the women there, for the most part, have become Americanized. They now kowtow to Madison Avenue and the media has led them to believe that being natural or hairy isn't sexy.

French woman he placed on the bottom of the list for lovers...american woman were in the middle. As for me have hairy legs... hell no...I prefer that the beaver be shaved also. I am an american and all the guys I know ...want shaved legs and arm pits on a woman anything less no way. We are in america not the UK. | |

Posted: 10/23/2007 9:10:07 AM | I love hairy legs. I think they are sexy, as long as the woman is generally sexy in other respects too. The difference is intriguing, and in this country I think that hairy legs often means a certain self confidence. The only thing is that it looks strange to me under transparent pantyhose. Bare legs, opaque hose, and pants work better with really hairy legs.
There use to be a woman at our pool who had a surprising amount of body hair. She has very visible hair on the upper surface of her breasts above the upper part of her bathing suit. I have never seen a woman like that before and part of me is really, really intrigued, while part of me sees her as too male. You can tell that people look at her, but she seems very self confident. | |

Posted: 10/23/2007 9:33:30 AM | Well I can only speak for myself but I think women worry too much about many things. Not supprising with all the unreal women on the front of magazines and so forth. I personally prefer smooth legs but legs with a bit of stubble, so to speak, is not a turn off for me. Only if the hairs were thick, black and long would it be a turn off. But hey that's jusy my preferences.
I know this is a bit of a taboo but, especially as women grow older, facial hair can become a worry too but although I wouldn't want to be with a woman who has a full grown beard, feeling the little prickle of facial hair would also not be a turn off. It's only natural.
Just my two pennies worth ;) | |

There is a line that separates sexy from sickening, and it's obvious which would be a bother. If she has thin, soft, short barely visible hair on her legs, that's the kind that is not a bother. On the other hand, if it's long or prickly or extremely noticeable, it goes or I go. | |

Posted: 10/23/2007 10:36:00 AM | I have had a beard and mustache for over 30 years. One lady I met here asked me if I would consider shaving it, and I just laughed. Then I realized she was serious and gave me a serious answer. I would consider it but would probably decline. I believe a lady's appearance is her own business and body hair would not bother me in the least. I have never experienced a woman who shaves everything, but I suppose I would get used to it if I liked her.
I know some ladies don't like stubble because they get irritated rubbing against it. I can imagine getting the same from a lady who shaved only occasionally, but so far it has never happened. | |

For me... the whole shaving thing is a bit of a conundrum...
I think human beings dont like to remember that biologically we are animals, we are related to the apes and apes are more or less hairy! I think we like to forget our 'beastly' (dirty) primal nature and so to enable our denial, we cover ourselves up, primp and preen (grooming - as the apes do for each other) and have elaborate ideas/standards/techniques/rituals that distance us, take us away from the 'real' states of our bodies.
Then I think there's a subconscious thing happening on the part of many men who are afraid of adult, powerful women, and so they want someone with the pre-pubescent look of a bare female child body to have relationship with - only a step or two away from pedophilia, in my opinion...
(As an aside, most fashion designers are (gay) males who dont like women and are designing for pre-pubescent boy figures - how can any 'normal' woman fit that physical shape? They cant, only starving models can - and our young girl children are learning that is how a woman's body is supposed to look and work and they become victims of eating disorders in an effort to be acceptable)
I think its really sad that women have been brainwashed to think that their normal bodies are ugly and disgusting and unappealing/unattractive...
And then there's the money - billions and billions of dollars being spent in telling women how they have to look, and in creating (mostly unhealthy, if not carcinogenic, ecologically damaging) products that they need women to buy...
And now you have men buying into that - why men shave/wax their legs/arms etc I dont know... that whole buffed look, the exaggerated abs, the biceps, the product or bleach in the hair...
As a woman I know how much time it takes to maintain that look - and if a man is so into himself and/or so insecure about himself that he needs to go to these lengths to believe himself attractive or to make a statement... then I'm not interested... life's too short to spend so many hours looking in the mirror!
I want to be real, and so I dont shave... used to and also used to wax... but a challenging life period and other more important things got in the way... didnt have the time or the money to get waxing done professionally (and not enough of a masochist to do it myself!) and got sick of getting the razor out each morning...
And I rebelled against the marketing campaigns that tell a woman she's only desirable if she's totally nude (except for a head full of luscious, flowing shoulder-length curly hair, preferably without any grey in it!) with a painted mask on her face, thin as a rake, with legs up to her armpits and watermelons for breasts ...
But I have to admit I am not at peace with myself over this - the marketing and 'stigma' has had its effect, and I too, fancy that, want to be seen as attractive. Its hard for me to go bare legged in summer, and I do use opaque tights in winter or wear trousers... and menopause and changing hormone levels is a fact in my life and there are those odd stray hairs appearing on the upper lip and on the chin that come with the wisdom years, that get tweezered out... I hate it that I sometimes still feel ashamed of/insecure about something that is a fact of nature and is not abnormal....
I have some older women friends - true crones - who are wild and natural and sexy and dont give a damn about what anyone thinks, do what they love, are fulfilled in their lives and are truly happy in their 'natural woman' skins - hair and all!
And I want to grow up to be like them - living life free of artificial constraints and standards, living real... and I want that for my daughters... and I want to be with a 'wild'
(yet sophisticated and elegant!!!LOL - no, they are not mutually-exclusionary qualities) man that knows and values that place of freedom and realness for himself, for me and for all living beings...

Women shaving their body hair wasn't awlays around, do you think back in the stone age the women were worried about a lil hair coming between her and her man. I highly doubt it. Shaving I think is a western thing and a lot of people adopted it because some men probably got bored and decided what else can we do to prove our machoness.
Shave woman and you will be considered a rarity, a precious diamond in the rough....hmmmmmmm ya...I'm thinkin out loud on that one.
All I can say is if I'm takin the time to shave my legs, you better be carrying yourself in pretty good form, meaning no stubble, trimmed under arm hair, trimmed pubes and not a forelorn looking bushmania that looks like it needs a lawn mower and some weed be gone. | |
