| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/8/2008 3:21:34 PM | It's the youth oriented media. It said so often "I do not look my age""I am xx y/o but I am young at heart" ad nauseam. People have eyes. Personally, I'm not 40 anymore. If someone thinks I'm looking good, excellent. If they don't, well okay. They do not have to stare then. Tell a person 20 years younger than you that you don't look your age. They will laugh right out loud. Biology does happen.
Why do we have to be something we are not? We are NOT young anymore. We are right where we are supposed to be
I do agree that youth is wasted on the young, but I also would not be 20 again if you paid me. Life goes on. We oughta go on with it and quit worrying about not being our ages

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/8/2008 3:42:47 PM | What I don't understand is why does everyone worry so much about what someone else says or does? If you dont' like the profile move on. If anyone is 50 and feels 40 hurray for them... I don't think this matters much on the under 45 crowd. Actually if a 50 yr old says he feels 40... i might think twice. Other wise I prefer the at least 5 yrs yonger than me or at least no older. Older men seem to have an old voice (we all have or likes and dislikes), dress old, act old, sedentairy etc. If they make a point to say they feel young then they might still have the energy I like...
Many have silly pick me up lines. Pick me up pictures. We say and do what it takes to attract the mate we want. Silly jokes, attidotes, and all to get attention. Girls and Boys this is what this is all about.
I like it when I see the positive turn on all this rather than the negative slant on it.
Reading most of the questions and comments I do wonder.... Are there any adults in these forums and profiles? My children never winned this much.

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/8/2008 3:50:05 PM | Hmmm, I sort of read it as a little red flag when the profile says "I look young for my age..' because maybe they'll put too much value into youth/appearances and be a tad more judgemental on how old I look!
On the otherhand, I'm also currently involved with someone 10 years younger - sue me, we clicked Of course, maybe it's my basic immaturity showing...

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/8/2008 4:51:02 PM | My Mother always looked young for her age... and as a child it was funny because classmates at first seeing her would ask me if she was my aunt... somehow aunts are always young....
It was really sad when she became sick because the woman I could count on to shock people with her age suddenly aged ALOT... but she wasn't around long after that...
so yes, there are those that can fool you, but they also know they don't have to state it... sort of like ACTUALLY having money.... you won't find a refined wealthy person gloating about that either...

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/8/2008 11:13:49 PM | I never understood lying about your age...it is a victory ....I mean I would rather look good for my age...than lie and say I was younger and have someone think I look bad for my age lol!
IMO everyone looks their age, maybe not in their face, but in the body or mental outlook...I find men attractive that have *aged vs the bare faces of the younger guys (ie the wrinkles, receding hair lines etc) those show me this is a man...someone who is wise, experienced, low drama...knows what he wants...wear your age with pride..you earned it.

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/9/2008 6:57:02 AM | | As a single woman with no kids, one thing I noticed is alot of married women with kids tend to look alot older than me even when we are the same age...I went to a high school reunion a few years ago and couldnt believe how old the married women with kids looked...Matronly....Living a more sedate lifestyle...I see that too when I go down for a swim at my local pool..All the married women my age with kids just sit around the pool gossiping....No exercise at all...The single women and the men are busy doing laps in the pool....I didnt have anything in common with them either and as they more inactive than me and mostly focused on their kids..Certainly not all married women with kids look old, some are real beauties who grow old gracefully...My mother is one of them..She never looks "matronly" and is active and keeps a very youthful appearance... | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/9/2008 7:26:43 AM | They choose their mode of dress for several reasons
1) no sense of style
2) no sense of style
3) no sense of style
They choose the way they live because it's safe
But when those kids are gone what do they have left?
My motto: Ride your life till the wheels fall off
Btw I don't look my age and I thank my mother every day for her good genes

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/9/2008 9:06:51 AM | LOL! OP....maybe it's due to the age of our bifocals? I know I just looked at over 300 profiles (on another site) and I left there thinking.....OMG these guys (ages 45-50) who at least...thankfully don't make the subjective comment that "they look younger than they are"....but 8 out of 10 of them looked OLDER than my Dad!!! LOL!
I'm know I'm "over the hill"....LOL! and I know EXACTLY what 55 looks like....as I see it in the mirror everyday!
Allow me to say however; Ageless.....YOU certainly don't LOOK 67! LOL! (seriously)
|
| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/9/2008 9:29:43 AM | LOL Thanks! GrandmaBooBoo.. I feel 67 some of the time, other times 50, other times 90, LOL
I sometimes think, what does it mean when someone says they look younger than their age? Who says what age should look like. I know people who are in their 40s who look older than me, and some in their 70s who look younger.. Go figure.
I do need to get an eye exam. LOL

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/9/2008 10:16:15 AM | | Wow - have to admit I didn't like the "women with kids look old" thing. I had three children and am in better shape than the one without kids - so I think that's kind of a generalization which is pretty unfair. What is it that is supposed to make us look so old? Let me see - matronly, don't do anything but talk. Wow! I swim a mile every morning, don't think I dress matronly and have a lot more to do than sit around gossiping. This honestly sounds like sour grapes to me. Kind of sad to feel the need to make those kinds of sweeping generalizations, especially if you don't look like you're doing much in the way of exercising yourself. | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/9/2008 10:55:11 AM | Charleston Mom, you got her pegged. I was thinking the same thing about her reponse over at the "becoming a father at middle age" thread.
As for me, I look my age, feel like my age, and try to act my age, usually.

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/9/2008 11:13:52 AM | | Thanks Keith - glad someone else noticed too! I look my age too, but am trying to hold the age thing at bay - lots and lots of exercise! ha ha! | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/9/2008 11:14:48 AM | I have to agree that AgelessWonder is fantastic looking and then so is GrandmaBooBoo, but I also feel it is reflected in thier posting...I don't think I have read one from them that is negative...that reflects on you in so many ways.
I also agree with Charleston mom, that post about matronly looking from someone who looked rather matronly in their pictures imo did seem more bitter than enlighting.
Age is a number...attitude is how you wear that number.

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/9/2008 11:32:51 AM | WOW!!! I just noticed that "matronly mother" comment myself...and I'm still shaking my head....wonder exactly WHICH planet that happens on!!!! LOL! I think that had I not had kids to chase around, I'd probably be about 100 lbs heavier. As for the laying around the pool and getting no excercise, not sure about the rest of the Moms....but I was in the pool WITH my kids....teaching them to swim, dive and playing volley ball. LOL! I'm actually now kinda sorry that I was so rough on them when they were kids. I remember saying...."HOW can you be tired? You're a KID!" LOL! Fortunately they do take a little pity on me in my "old age" that I didn't have for them way back when. They do slow down a bit for me now that I'm not chronically stuck wide open in 5th gear all the time....but man....I sure do feel guilty some times realizing that they might actually have been tired trying to keep up with Mom!
Charleston Mom.....you look FAR from "matronly"! LOL!
Can I b1tch for a minute??? (LOL! as if I needed permission) I would LIKE to dress more "matronly"....unfortunately they don't make "matronly" looking clothing in MY size. We seriously need to get clothing makers to accept the fact that NOT all "matronly women" start in a size 12-14. LOL! wouldn't it be nice if we could get a size 6 somewhere besides the TeenyBopper section????
Sapphire! You look great for any age! LOL! :-) Maybe it's just that twinkle in your eye that makes you look so young!

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/10/2008 9:50:06 AM | | Good comment, Charlsten-mom, thank you! I've a mum of two myself, and the idea that someone saw me as matronly - although capecod did say not 'all' - Heck, Trike, does that thing really fly?? Gads, my bikes have wheels that stay on the ground... | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/10/2008 10:08:00 AM | most of us will never admit we look our age even if we look far older. good grief i had my first gray hair at 18. i think a lot of folks just like to say that because it makes em feel better and younger which they think is what is going to attract others to them. me i look my age but think younger for the most part. thats why i dont seem 52. the looking my age parrothead | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/11/2008 5:24:25 AM | | That comment is a turn-off for me as well, along with "I am 50, but act 30." I'm not looking for someone who acts 30! I think those statements are an attempt to attract younger women. Perhaps it happens on the female side of things too, but since I don't read those profiles, I don't know. Fact of the matter is, you're gonna meet at some point if you truly want to date and there ain't no hiding then! Yes, I get comments from time to time that there is no way I could have grown children and grandchildren, but I'd rather **you** decide that instead of trumpeting it from my profile. | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/11/2008 5:26:44 AM | To quote a great movie
"Time marches on..and sometimes it marches right across your face "
OBTW for anyone that tells you "You don't look your age"
Ask "What does my age look like?"

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/11/2008 8:40:53 AM | I would never put that in my profile. People tell me all the time that I look younger than my age, and I take it as a compliment. Ageless, you can look matronly and still look young for your age. (But you don't look matronly to me!)
The fact that we are here, at our age, is a testimony to the fact that we don't mind being the age that we are, and that we are still young at heart, and that we don't let our age deter us from participating in this, what some would call young venture, of still being interested in meeting a nice, suitable man.
So whether we look younger, older, or exactly our age, is of no consequence. I do believe as you do, that our children and especially grandchildren, help in keeping us young. When I'm running here and there with my 7 year old granddaughter, keeping her entertained, I sometimes feel like a kid.

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/11/2008 9:10:04 AM | I like looking 60..lol hey but I think younger and riding my scooter I feel younger.. this brings to mind the 20 yr old pics on some profiles.. age does matter MsMocha... age brings wisdom, skills, experience and memories..I don't want to be ageless and lose all the positives.. dusty fishin and wishin for a fishie on my hook | |
