Okay folks. I'll agree. I'm not hard to get along with. No one, absolutely no one, looks younger than their chronological age. Anyone who tells you different is lying. Now. Everyone happy?? Good! We're all old hags and that's exactly what we look like. Old hags are we! Whoop tee doo!! A forum full of old worn out hags.
To the OP: I don't go around saying it either. I said it in this thread because that's what this thread is a bout. You're the one who brought the subject up.

I am 48 & my pic is less than a month old...whatever someone decides about my appearance, whether in photo or in person is up to them...

Although reading someone saying: "I look young for my age" in their ad is annoying in an amusing way, I am not gonna point it out, as it is unkind. Maybe their ex called them an old battle axe & they are merely trying to get their confidence back?

How about a kinder, gentler POF?

Great answer lovin2blivin! And IF anyone EVER says I look younger than my age without prompting from me (i.e. as I jokingly say 'yeah, I know I look 40 but I got a 30 year old son') I'll just say thank you. Then let it be. Geez........we're so friggin visual aren't we?

AW: If for some reason you choose not to believe people when they tell you that you look younger, that would seem that you have low self esteem and doubts about your own appearance. I think it's a mistake, anyway, to go by what someone looks like in a photo on POF. I live mostly in the real world, and when I get compliments on how I look, I take them graciously and in the belief that they are being sincere.

Again, I don't put anything about how I look in my profile. Apparently you got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, or someone said something to you that made you want to try to bring everyone else down. Here's hoping you succeeded in making someone feel that they should never take compliments seriously. Hope it made your day! But me? I will continue to accept compliments graciously. I know how I look, and you can call it bragging, but I know I look good for my age. Have it your way! Like I said, if it makes you feel good to think we're all old worn out hags, so be it.

RussetAutumnRose...nice post (11, 17)...and I agree...When a hetero woman tells me I don't look my age, what's she trying to gain? And while it's a nice thing to say, it's like, so what? Who really cares?...My looks, and 'not looking my age' according to some, doesn't make me who I am inside. But I'm still waiting for that person who came up with what X age is supposed to look like, lol.

I'll admit, I've seen pictures, and people in person, who say they're X age and I can't help but think wow, they look old, or they look young 'for their age'...I've been contacted by men who say they're younger than I am and they look older than my grandfather...and I've seen women young enough to be my daughter who look older than I do. In some cases I'm basing their age/looks in part on what I and those in my family look like for my age; and in others it's just kind of surprising to find a 22 year old who looks wrung out and hung up to dry, or a 65 year old who looks like they're young enough to be a 2o year olds mother rather than grandmother.

Age is a weird thing and probably most don't think they look their age. My intentions were NOT to put anyone down, just wonder why people feel it necessary to say it about themselves.

And no, I did not get up on the wrong side of the bed, nor am I jealous, angry or a mean old hag! Well maybe 2 out of 3 isn't so bad

Gonna be 61 in 3 months. What a shocker; gonna get right on that test mentioned above.

Smiles, Rossal

P.S. I trained myself long ago to NEVER say anything negative about myself, even if I have to bite my tongue.......so I have some amusing things I could say, but won't!

My former Top Secret Clearance in the army prevents me (really....I was in the army)......

If captured, I would probably crack like an egg, LOL, LOL

Actually, I don't REMEMBER the secrets.

How do you tell what someone looks like at a specific age? This is a pretty simple one, peeps! Compared to others....statistically...100 people viewed...it is not so weird...just look at some of the famous people in their 40's, 50's, and 60's who can give the 20-somethings a run for their money....Rachel Welch, Cheryl Ladd, Jacklyn Smith, etc...

It is no different than a teenager being told that they look older than their 15 years!

There ARE people who look much younger than their years....whoo hoo if you are one, boo hoo if you are not. Who cares? The real OP was about people who use it as bait or an advantage, in their profile.

It is silly. We would not say, "I have blue eyes but people often tell me that they look green." Or how about, "I weigh 300 pounds but people often tell me that I look like I am a size 5!"

Well shoot my****es... it appears that it is important...Hmmm can I ask why? Is important because you want to attract younger people or because it makes you feel better?

Looks and age don't mean squat! Most older women are damn good, experianced lovers, they know all the right moves and make a man feel like a man or school boy, never had so much fun,I can't control shooting my wad,and I thought them days were over for a 50 year old.

Oooooh, I don't consider any of us over the hill. You're over the hill if you think you are.

I get told that I look younger (when people find out my age). I don't read anything into that, there's more important things to get my knickers all twisted up. My pics are on here and I let the reader decide for themselves. If a compliment comes my way, it makes my day and I say a simple "thank you". One thing about age today, we are aging better than our parents and grandparents. Partly due to we're taking better care of ourselves, we don't dread old age (like they did), and we have better hair styles, clothing, etc. Oh yes, and thanks for the age of plastic.

I notice that the OP is the same age as myself. So, I can understand her maybe thinking she is over the hill, even though I don't feel that way. But, this is an over 45 forum, meaning there are some here in their 40's/50's. To say they are over the hill is totally ridiculous!

Guess I just can't understand that way of thinking, and I'm glad!!
Could it be that some here are getting so frustrated by not making a connection, that they are now striking out at anything, for no reason? I know the over 45 posters tend to chew people up and spit them out. But now we're targeting the profiles, and how people choose to represent themselves? What next, I wonder.

I've gone into the cooking forums and started targeting turnips. What da heyy, I say ...

And to keep my post 'on topic' ... a number folks have viewed the contents of my fridge, looked at my turnips and said: "My, they look younger than they really are." But I'm a well-adjusted POF'er now. I don't let it phase me a bit.

There are really only 3 choices concerning a person's age and how they look in regards to it:
1. You look your age.
2. You look younger than your age.
3. You look older than your age.

Everybody falls into one of those 3 categories. The important things are how you feel about yourself inside and how you treat others. If you are happy with how you look to yourself, then that is all that matters.

Personally, I find that those who say "their friends tell them"....
1) they look younger
2.) they are very nice
3.)they are funny
4.)they are handsome
.......often have imaginary friends, when truth be told and push comes to shove.

I am able to see and hear and define humor and guage what I call handsome all by myself . I can decide how nice someone is by the way they treat me and how they treat others when nobody's looking.
What other people find amusing , I may find dull and vice versa.

Age is a fact of life. Maturity is the key. I have met men in the mid to late 60's who act like spoiled 23 year olds. I have met 35 year olds who would fit well in a geriatric setting as they act as if they are on their last breath.
Some where in the middle there is a match for spirit and spunkiness and as we reach our"golden years"(lol) hopefullly we have realized that a package is just a package. Although some will always be done up prettier, it does not change the value any.

More amusing is the poster here who spouts his "blach" at everyone and has in his profile " prefer not to say" in drinking and smoking then goes on to say 4-5 times that he likes beer. Seems that he preferred to say afterall.

EDIT:.....if we are really "OVER THE HILL"....shouldn't the climb be getting easier?

^^^^ Those are some mightly young looking turnips there cdn!!!

OK, before anyone gets all hot and bothered about the post.. Don't take it literally.. geezeeeee when I said over the hill, I didn't mean everyone in here, but if the shoe fits....

My intention was not to make fun of people, but merely stating people go around saying they look younger then they are, and what is the purpose of it?

I certainly didn't expect to get attacked by a poster on here, or for anyone to take it personally. I am quite happy with the way I look and if others don't want to look at me, then don't. Over the Hill is just a phrase folks, and can be seen at Hallmark Cards for people over 50.. That doesn't mean they have one foot in the grave!!

For all the Over the Hill People in here .....

....there are quite a few 45 year olds who look ten years younger.

Too much stress, smoking, alcohol, illegal drugs, and the demon "sun" ages people....and lighter-skinned people who expose themselves to the sun age MUCH faster than darker-skinned people who take protective measures.......

So, you don't have to have a lot of $ to pay a plastic surgeon to look younger....it's a combination of your genetics and how you care for yourself.

I hate it too. Plastic surgery, bariatric surgery, hair dye.....

Your heart, lungs and bones are as old as they are. Denial won't change the year you were born.

You are how old you are.
