| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/19/2007 4:35:36 PM | People tell me all the time that "I dont look my age" so when I tell them im 49 they apologies LOL | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/19/2007 9:15:24 PM | Many moons ago Gloria Steinem was told that she looked good for 40. Her reply was: "This is what 40 looks like." Best answer I've ever heard. If you are happy with who you are age is just a number. ( I may be have been off with her exact age at the time, but it was in the "40"range) When my son was very young and I was still married, my ex used to whine about "being old" constantly. He was about 45 at the time. One day my son came to me visibly upset and said " Daddy says he's really old. Does that mean he's gonna die soon ?" I had to explain to him that his father was middle-aged, not old, and still had a long way to go before he was going to die. He just liked to complain about it a lot. LOL | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/19/2007 10:17:38 PM | | This is also a pet peeve of mine. If you look so good then you do not have to say so and bring it to everyones attention. They will be able to make this opinion themselves. And really what is wrong with looking your age? I look my age and happy to do so. | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/20/2007 8:31:26 AM | I agree that age is just a number. However, as someone who gets this pointed out frequently (mostly because my daughters and I shock people that we are parent/child and my grandson as well) I just want to defend that not all of us go LOOKING for the reaction or compliment....not all of us who hear it, think it is anything other than nice to hear. It is forgotten once it is said...and I definitely would not make it an issue or a main point on my profile! LOL (Although on my MySpace page I do mention something about "one hot granny...plss on the MILF stuff...I am a GILF!") LOL
I agree with the OP...but for some to act as if it is attention whores who get this....well, not true. :)

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/20/2007 4:13:12 PM | | I'm 50 and I look 50. When people tell you you don't look your age it's because A.) They wanna make you feel good or B.) Because one day they'll look as old as you and they wanna hear "You don't look your age". | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/20/2007 4:20:02 PM | | They know they look their age, I've dated like 4 or 5 women on-line dating and every one of them had posted a picture at least 8-10 years younger than they actually were. It was very disappointing, I never saw them again, not because they were older but because they were liars. | |

I experienced the same phenomenon!
There are some smokers and sun-seekers who look much older than they are. Yes, compared to them, we might look younger, but really, nowadays they are so many "younger-looking" people around, that in the end, most of us look our age.

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/21/2007 7:50:41 AM | I'm 56 but feel 66. Arthur Itis and Charlie Horse visit me often and diabetes is hell. So even if I DID think I looked younger, what would be teh advantage to deluding myself that I am not 56?
My ex used to beg me to dye my beard dark and cover the gray. And I would always answer "Why? You wanty me to play the vanity games those losers with the bad hairpieces play?"
You are what you are, and you are as old as you are. Rather enjoy the journey than trying to change nature.

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/21/2007 9:16:58 AM | | I actually think I look older than I am, although people (being kind, probably) tell me I don't. I think if I lost a little weight, I'd look younger. | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/21/2007 10:04:10 AM | I had not planned on coming back to this thread, but then I got to thinking. Why would such a sweet faced older lady start a thread like this? So I looked at the profile. Now, I could say something nasty at this point about putting one's picture up and letting us decide. But I'm not a mean spirited person, so I won't. I'll just say: "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!"
I think we all should just enjoy life each and everyday if we can. Why worry about the small stuff, like whether someone looks their age or not? Be healthy! Be happy! Be safe! Be grateful for your blessings, whatever they may be. Fretting the small stuff is just not worth it!

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/21/2007 10:19:59 AM | Quite frankly I don't care if I look my age or if I look older or younger than my age. I don't care if other people look their age, look older or look younger. The difficulty that I have with some of the responses to this thread is the nastiness that is hidden inside some people who have posted. I have been acquainted with the OP for quite some time and she has proven time and again to be a lovely, caring human being who simply does not deserve what some of you have felt so free to spew in her direction.
The OP was merely stating that she had a dislike for something. The OP stated a personal opinion on a matter that she finds irritating to her. The OP did not point fingers at any particular person nor did she attempt to bash or flame other posters as has been done to her.
Okay, I'm stepping off my soapbox now.

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/21/2007 10:41:18 AM | I just turned 49 last week and I've gotten the "You don't look your age" speech for 10 years now...I just look them square in the eyes and reply "And I'm sure you aren't as stupid as what just came out of your mouth!"

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/21/2007 11:09:56 AM | RussetAutumnRose: I viewed her profile too. And I see nothing wrong with her profile or for that matter this thread. If you can think of something nasty to say I feel sorry for you.
I just try to be the best I can be and not worry what others think.....

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/21/2007 3:23:12 PM | Chelsea: There's nothing wrong with the profile. There's nothing wrong with anyone's profile, as long as they say what they want to say. But, It's the pot calling the kettle black when you post saying that if someone says they look younger than their age, they need to post a picture to prove that, if you're saying your body type is "a few extra pounds", but you only post a headshot.
WE all know that could mean a "few" or a lot!!We could just as easily come back at her with "Post a full body picture to prove how many extra pounds". That would be silly, because she doesn't have to prove anything to us. And vice-versa. Now, you all argue among yourselves, 'cause I'm out of here for sure this time. Maybe we should all post a full body photo, naked, if it's come to "Show us a picture to prove what you say". Can't anyone else see the silliness in all this? Have fun!

I guess you didn't look too good, because there is a full body shot on my profile, but that's ok, to each his own. You don't have to prove to me you look younger, and I wasn't addressing this thread to one person, but to the ones who post a picture and say they look younger. I have no idea if there is a no picture what anyone looks like.

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/22/2007 8:57:04 AM | I've been told I look younger than my age. Is it flattery? Probably. I look in the mirror and think I look my age. Thanks to the poster who quoted Gloria Steinman. I agree. This is what my age looks like on me. I think it best to leave it up to others to judge.

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/22/2007 1:11:27 PM | I am not ashamed of my age. I even put it in the body of my profile. Life is too short to worry about what others think. If you love yourself that is all that matters. Good luck to everyone ...we will all find the one we are looking for ( or they will find us). katie | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/22/2007 2:12:11 PM | I have noticed that many guys in their 50's (a few women as well) will state they are "young for their age", "don't feel a day over 30", and "everyone tells me I look and act so much younger....". Then, read their profile age restrictions...25-40. | |

| Don't look my age!! ewwwwwwwwww Posted: 7/22/2007 6:14:58 PM | When asked my age I give it, usually the next response is , you don't look it. My response is , what , you mean I look older. Now what the heck is 62 supposed to look like ?? Please let me know. LOL | |
