A whole lot of people here must have had a very difficult life, they sure look a lot older than they are.

Some days I look way older, a very few other days younger, but usually look my age. I usually do not act my age though.

^^^Amen...someone telling me that I don't look my age is indeed a huge turnoff. This is what my age looks like on me. I'm not ashamed of my age, and the alternative to not aging is way worse. lol I'm 47 and look 47...at least..what 47 looks like on me. Telling me I look younger is not a compliment. It's an insult to 47.

I know I am having a good hair day when store clerks refuse to give me the senior discount and I have to pull out my birth certificate. Then again I have had days when I was way younger when I was asked if I wanted the discount. I figure age, as beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

Last weekend a 22 year old I bought my bike from asked my age because I had said that I was having a mid-life crisis and he seemed surprised that I was 43, a little embarassed actually. We had however already enjoyed shopping together for my biker gear and I must say he had well built arms from rock climbing and martial arts. He asked for my msn so I could introduce him to my daughter who visits me now and again from interstate but she told him he is not her usual type. He was a sweety and I hope he finds someone nice because he deserves it as he was so kind to me. When he saw me flirt with someone more my own age in the shop he called me a player - not sure if that was so nice anymore though

P.S. My daughter said no mom you can only have a mid-life crisis when you are 50 LMAO.

I don't see it as a compliment, if someone says you look younger than your age, but I also can't see it as an insult. Sometimes it's meant as a compliment and I take it as such. Sometimes it just comes out as how they see you. But in answer to all who say they don't know what a particular age looks like, I agree. But when people say you look older or younger than your age, they usually mean compared to most that they know of that same age. Or their perception of what that age should look like.

I have met people who, when I learn their age, it just naturally pops out "Wow! You sure don't look 50 or 70, or whatever!", because they just don't look it. Apparently the OP of this thread has some way of knowing, just by looking, what each age is supposed to look like. In the OP, it was mentioned that some look older in their photos than they say they are. No one took umbrage at that statement. However, when some say they look younger than their age, it got everyone's panties in a bunch! I can't see the difference in those two statements. If some look older, then it would stand to reason that some look younger. We all look like ourselves at our age, so it's a moot point anyway. But, the thread was started, for whatever reason, and the entries have been surprising, to me.

Everyone here is over the age of 45, and yet we are to believe that most here have never seen anyone who, they thought, looked younger or older than their age. The OP was being honest, I assume, in her opinion of people looking older than their age, but along the way, the thread took a stupid turn, and became a tirade against any who may have been told, or thought they look younger than their age. Amazing!!!This thread, more than any I've read, lets me know that what is written in these forums, has nothing to do with reality, or what people really think, or the real world.

Does it count if i'm happy to be my age and don't really care how old or young I should look? everyone views us through different eyes and if your happy with yourself you don't have to put up all those ( I look so much younger than I am ) statements. it's simply a tactic for trying to sell yourself to the masses in my opinion just like the pics with nothing but clevage or guys with the buff shirtless pics.
Food for thought to the self proclaimed beautiful people.
Your gonna age and your looks are gonna fade, be sure there is something more to you than a pretty shell. aspire to have inner beauty.

I say amen to your observation and see both genders use it.

I pity some of these women (I don't look at mens ads so I'm not being sexist) who say their 35 and look 55. I mean I was looking at their picture in the first place because I thought they were my age.

I haven't met a woman yet who doesn't look her age. I've seen plenty of pictures that don't look the age of the woman posting, but could that be they're from 20 years ago when they looked better?

I've had plenty of friends and family tell me I don't looke my age. What they REALLY mean is I look good for my age and I'll eat that up all day. It's almost an unkindness for people to tell others they don't look their age.

Why do we even have to think about if you, or we, look younger or older than your age, if age really does not matter?

All I ask for, is to not be excluded because of my age from anyone getting to know me and deciding for themselves if I am a viable person to date, enjoy, and maybe have a relationship with.....

Just because I am years older on my drivers license, does not mean that I am older physically, mentally, otherwise. I am happy to let the ones I am with decide that, and if I am worth the time and effort to know much better, but I am not willing to let a function of a specific date on the calendar decide for me.

I do not want to date women my son's age, nor do I want to become a father again and raise a family, but other than that, I am happy to date and enjoy any woman that I have that special chemistry with, and they me, no matter if they are 20 years younger or older than I am.

If the one I find is closer to my period of life existence, then we may have much more in common, but that is not the case many times and many that are around my chronological age are not where I am in my life and abilities. I do not need to "find younger" in order to "be younger".....what I need is to find others that fit in my sphere of existence and enjoyment, no matter their age, or mine.

Just my opinion......

I can't see any point in lying about your age or using a younger pic on your profile because if you are really hoping to 'meet' someone then it is certain to ruin any chance you have as soon as they find out the truth.

C Deacon: Great observatiuon. That was my thought when I first read this thread. What difference does it make? If you don't like someone's picture because they look too old or too young, just don't respond to them. All of the arguments here are based on looks. The thread was started about people's looks. Some here are saying something totally opposite to what they've said in other threads about looks.

Seems like just a silly argument that would be heard on an elementary school playground.

And yet this thread is still going! It was started to put others down, and people keep posting to put others down, and like an idiot, I keep posting to try to show the other side of the coin, which I know from experience in these forums, is futile.
Will someone please kick me out of this thread?? Okay, I'm gone.
May you all continue to be happy with who you are, regardless of what you look like. There's someone out there for you! I'm just glad I was lucky enough to meet someone not from these forums, who likes me just as I am! Whew!!

Many put pictures on here of a younger time in their life when they did not have as many wrinkles, or weight as they have now. That is just going to come back to haunt them when they meet in person because they are significantly different then their pictures.

The age thing is something totally different in my mind. Many women do not tell their age because that has always been their privilege and right. Men can do it as well, and I find it amazing how restrictive many become when dealing with age.

My pictures are all recent and up to date, and I am as I look and will allow anyone who meets me to decide if they are interested, attracted, and want to know me better.

I do not dye my hair like many others do on here, which seems so acceptable to so many, but still a form of deception by trying to look younger then your real age.

I think that maintaining your looks in order to look as good and youthful as you care to be is very important and a good thing to do, and if that means that you do not want to have your age involved, then you should be allowed that choice, just as some do with hair coloring, make up, breast implants, tummy tucks, and all the other things many do to present the image they care to.

Just my opinion.....

OK, I am 46 in a couple of weeks.

Just what is a 46 year old supposed to look/feel like? I have never seen a response.

I have no 'plastic' parts in me, I am au natural! I am quite happy with my looks.

Thanks for the gene pool, ma! ;) lol

Well when I was in my teens I looked way older than my age group.
Hit my twenties looked way younger.
Hit my 30 looked in my 20's
Hit my 40's I am not sure somedays I feel, look and act like I am 60 and a granny grunt at that. Somedays I feel like Iam still in my teens....
Looking my age I am not sure exactly what that means. I am blessed with looking younger than I am. Having been blessed with a great gene pool. I also have some hard times since I am not a cougar, I am not interested in men in their 20's But the men in my age group sometimes I feel like I need to show them the id. or pictures of my grandkids and Say hello I am really this age.
As far as having anything done. Nope let gravity take its' course. Let the wrinkles come I have earned everyone .

I have never, ever seen a woman who upon close inspection did not look her age. She may look very, very good, but she does look her age. Nevertheless, many women's profiles preposterously claim they do not look their age. This correlates to everyone of us claiming we are all above average.

Well. I'm 55 and I definitely work at how I look. If you don't take care of yourself at all ages and practice some good grooming tips, you will look in the mirror one day and scare yourself. There's nothing wrong with taking care of yourself so you can look your best at any age. When I was 30, this older lady told me that at 20, you don't even need a mirror in your house. Everything you wear looks good. You can just roll out of bed. At 30, she said, "You need a mirror and you need to take a little more time getting out of the house in the morning." At 40, "you need a little help from your friends. At 50, if you don't know what it takes to keep it together, just throw on the outfit from your 20's, a hat and sunglasses and walk on the opposite side of the street. Look for the donkey, because he will recognize you. She was a character, but she made her point.

Miss AutumnRose: I think I can speak for most of us. We "got" you from your first message. We get it. Your point was made, and very well, I might add. That you have felt compelled to come back again and again.... engaging in what is called..'right fighting', until your original point became clouded and unclear has not helped at all to sustain a great image of you...(in our minds since there is no photo?). Even you yourself are awares of this, since you actually asked for someone to kick you off the post. ha ha! I'm not going to do that, but.... I hope my little 'reflections' are helpful.

I have another thought about the (I'm younger looking than my age comments). I believe all of us had images of what people in their ancient '40's' looked like to us when we were in our youth. They looked old, indeed. Now that we are here...or beyond, we just don't think we look like those memories of the ancient...from our youth!! Hence.... "I don't look my age"... Interesting, huh?

It is a Fact, however... that some people just look a whole lot better than others at any given age. Thats the way it is. Touble is, apparantly... most of us seem to think "we" are those few!! har har.

I see a bunch of people in here stating they don't look their age.. Well my theory on it is, put your picture up and let us decide. OK, so this irritates me.. I can see perfectly well with my bi-focals and a lot that say that look older in their picture then they say they are.. give us a break here folks... we are all over the hill!!

That is SO funny and true...... I think the same thing when I see that... it would be different if we weren't allowed to post a pic, but since we can... let us decided. I also see men post an age that they used to be..... LOL

I am what I am... 48 and a man can either like it, or pass me by.

Both very true comments...but how about when people assume you have pictures posted that are from years ago when they're not? I can't help that I don't have wrinkles; my grandfather's 97 and he doesn't have any either; neither did my parents. Hey, if people think my pictures aren't current, that's their problem...and I'm glad to find out ahead of time so I don't waste time meeting someone who make assumptions.

I do not dye my hair like many others do on here, which seems so acceptable to so many, but still a form of deception by trying to look younger then your real age.

I've dyed my hair since I started going gray at 18; instead of wrinkles we women in the family grow gray early...I'll take that over wrinkles anyday, lol. Even if I weren't gray I'd still color my hair as I like to change my hair color, and it gets changed frequently. Though I've been considering that the next time I get the urge to cut my hair really short I'll let the gray grow out; I'm interested to see what it looks like as what I can see - silver, pewter, white - looks good.

So, *you're* the one who has the list of what a particular age is supposed to look like! Please share! lol...I put 'average' in my profile because everyone has their own idea what another looks like to them...some think the uber skinny waif looks good, while others like a more rounded body; I figure they can tell from my pictures what I look like...but I do find it interesting that you put 'athletic' in your profile and didn't post a picture. I also think you're missing out on some fabulous women on this site who are closer to your own age rather than between 38-48.
