Pinebreeze: Yes, I do keep coming back, as do several others on this and other threads. I have the right to do that, the same as you. Okay? And I do have to point out here, that you can only speak for you, as I can only speak for me. You got the point from my first message. Good! You can call it 'right fighting', if that's how you see it. I call it standing up for a truth that some here still don't get. Since I seem to be the "poster person" for what is the minority opinion here, I don't mind taking the heat for all of us who, for whatever reason, be it genes or lifestyle, happen to look young for our age.

I carry that banner as one who does have a thick enough skin to do so. There are others here who know they look younger than their chronological years, and have been brave enough to say so. But still, I'm the one who takes the heat. I have a history of sticking up for my rights, from experience, and I will continue to do so. Until I am banned from posting (and that has never happened yet), I will be here, Pinebreeze, at will. The same as you or anyone else here. Or do you feel that you have more right to post your thoughts than I do?

If you are tired of reading my comments, then just don't read them! Did that never occur to you? I did not start this thread, and would never start one making it appear that people are demented because they may not look the age they say they are.

Ok, uh...Ageless Wonder!

I've gotten emails from men in their 60's who claim in their profiles that they look like they are in their 30's. Um, no, they don't. LOL, they look like they are in their 60's!

One more thing, Pinebreeze, I'm not really concerned about whatever image you may have of me. You are not a part of my life. We will never meet. However, I wish you well, as I do everyone else here!

LOL! This picture was taken when I was 46 okay? LOL....but I like it! It exudes my energy! Anyway....until I find another one I feel the same way about I am going to use it. I do tell people though, that it is two years old. I also try to meet as soon as possible, people who peak my interest. Life is too short to waste. I have been online dating, off and on for oh gosh almost 5 years...it really works for me. I have never had a really bad experience. I try not to have expectations, accept people and love them for who they are, and if there is no click....I do not take it personally.

Hi neighbor, LOL.

To me, it is not so much that someone doesn't look their age, I am told that all the time. The girls at work wanted to see my driver's license because they didn't believe me! It is those who put it in their own profile. Perhaps they just want to find a younger partner. I guess that is ok but I can judge for myself. The only way I can't is if there is no picture. I suppose if they don't post a picture and put in their profile they look younger, that would make more sense to me.

Furthermore, I am not putting people down. Was just making an observation.

Age? Who cares. I observed a couple where the one who looked older for her age was chosen over the one who looked younger for her age. The chooser could not stop touching their partner each time they went out - why make that choice? - it was because of personality - they are such a cute couple and they buy matching pajamas and gym wear - aww so sweet

I know I look young for my age but if I was going to mention it at all, I would say it completely differently as it's such a cliche! What gets me though are the number of men (probably women too) who actually say they are good looking. I wouldn't care but you have to wonder what mirror they are looking in. Or you get the faux modest 'some say good looking'. Who are these 'some'? Do they need sight tests? Or was it a bribe!

I look in the mirror and think I look the age that I am.

Long term friends and new people I meet tell me I don't look anywhere near my age.

I don't get it, and someday I wonder WTF. But it isn't something that I worry about.

We all know men and women who say they look years young than they are, and some days it is hard not to laugh.

I tell people they look great for their age, which is a true statement, but to say they look younger...I don't think so, again you look younger compared to who!!! all I can say is I'm one happy camper knowing there are some great looking ladies over 45.....

can you imagine if we picked teams that way, ok! everone who looks younger then 45 on this side , everyone who looks over 45 on the other side! think about it,,,you would go to what ever side and start looking around and oops ! I'm on the wrong side, then go to the other side, crap I don't fit in here either,,I think if "whats her name" went to the under 45 looking group we would surley all be on one team.... Have a nice night fellow fishies...

Somethings are OBO... Obvious By Observation. There is no need to ever say in your profile that you look younger than your age. Put up a picture! Yes... let the audience decide. Chances are, if you say you look younger than your age, YOU PROBABLY DON'T.

"Chances are, if you say you look younger than your age, YOU PROBABLY DON'T." Actually that's what my intent was with my post. I wasn't meaning ME at all. I would have never thought, dreamed of or considered putting that in a profile. For me the whole discussion is a WHAAA!! I do accept that when someone says that in reference to me, it's considered to be a compliment.
I don't know or care really what my age is supposed to look like, at 20, 35, 47 or 50. Act your age, dress your age, feel your age....WTF is any of that? I always KNOW how old I am. I do accept that living all these years, that I age. Whoa...not something to ponder. It's a fact, I look at it and consider it that and only that.
Here's the bottom line as far as I'm concerned, if you disagree, fine I'm only saying what works for me, okay. Age is a statistic, a fact. I've found it's much more productive to embrace it and enjoy it.
So for those of us who know how old we are, and don't care if we look, act it, dress it...just like when I was younger....I enjoy where I am and who I am. Age is just the fact of it the numbers don't bother me at all. So please don't confuse the issue by throwing out all that meaningless drivel of what age you think we look, act or feel.
I don't care how old I am, I know it, and don't consider it anything more than a stat of how many years I've lived. That IS it, I have lived that long....and plan on living more years and enjoying them just as much.
And I really have found that all through these years and decades, my mindset and outlook on life hasn't changed much at all.

Well, I'm 56. I've always been honest about my age.

But I gotta funny story to tell!

We hired a new employee about a month ago. She was bragging about being the oldest one in the shop and that we had better show her some respect. I knew I was older but let it ride.

A couple of days later she said she had never done this sort of work before...she had either been a waitress or a nurses assitant. This new job was just to difficult for her to learn...besides, she was older than everyone else.

I just couldn't take it anymore. I told her to give it up. I was a licensed practical nurse for 18 years and a waitress before that. Then, I told her my age and asked her how old she was. She was ten years younger than me! "Sorry, sweetheart. I learned this job just before I turned fifty and you are only 46".....shut her right up.

She has more grey hair and acts ten years older...rode hard and put away wet one to many times to my way of thinking.

"Tweak" does wonders to a body.

Looking your age and acting your age are two different things. I have had plastic surgery and got a great result. The surgeon had me bring in photos of what I looked like when I was young and essentially put things back in the same position and it looks good. I am still my age with a goal of looking as good as I can and have an age-appropriate appearance in dress, hair style and make-up. That means being stylish, not any belly skin showing and being sophisticated.

What bothers me most is people my age who act older than they really should. Negative personality, always complaining about health or physical problems and living in the past. That is why I like younger men--more positive, want to have fun and do things and usually fit

...We wouldn't have to worry about surgery if Ponce de Leon's expedition had brought him to Bimini instead of Florida...we would all be drinking from the fountain of youth. I wonder how much a bottle that would be selling for?...I'll take two, I'm running low.

I just let others decide for themselves and do not use my age unless I have to......

The whole point here is to not state it for yourself, but rather have others believe and feel good about you and your total looks, along with your personality. If I can hold my own, have others want to be with me and enjoy me, date me, want me, and me them, why should it change once they do know my age?

The main reason this is an issue on here, is because we need to have an age on our profile, and that starts the process of many second guessing not only others, but themselves when it comes to age. Maybe we need to have the profile category changed to over 21, just as we now have for our children all being over 18?

Having an age category on a profile is like placing one for income, and we all know what that would do for the many that would see it........it would become the determining factor with the selection, and not the person themselves, just as it is now for many with age.....

Just my opinion.......

I don't mind telling my age. I consider it a blessing that I have lived so long, and that I still have a good quality of life. One of the reasons that I never posted a picture, even when I was looking for a romantic connection, was because people put too much emphasis on pictures. They look at a picture and try to judge you by that, and maybe judge you all wrong. Maybe you were having a bad day, and your pic may look 10 years older than you are. Maybe you used a glamour shot, that made you look 10 years younger. This thread proves that sometimes putting a pic up can go against your chances with people making all kinds of assumptions.

When I meet a man, he can see for himself, the real me and I can see the real him. Age has never been an issue for me, but I can understand that my age would be, for some men, if they were not seeing me in person. I know that probably some really good people are being passed over on this and other dating sites just because of age or a less than flattering picture. If someone puts a picture up, and then they say they look younger than their age, people will automatically try to find all kinds of flaws in that person's appearance, just to disprove that. Since I go by face to face meetings, I never run into that. I guess we all do what works best for us.

Maybe it would be better for some, not to have to put an age on a profile. I have found that, once people get to know you, age does not matter one whit!!

Heeeeyyy, speak for yourself. I'm not over the hill. I haven't even found the hill yet!!! Maybe that's b/c I'm directionally challenged and get lost a lot, but I choose to believe it's b/c I don't worry about the hill and whether I'm climbing up or have left it behind.

I agree with you, though, that I think it's silly to say you don't look your age. Let us decide that by putting a recent picture up.

I'm 50+. I am at the point where I look SOOOOO much better with the clothes on! I'd never kid myself. For those who claim to look so much younger - go and REALLY check out those "youngsters" - we were there once, but alas, not anymore. On the positive side, many folks are looking darn good at this point. Hey, it's all better than the old horizontal dirt dance.
