| Michael Vick Posted: 7/23/2007 9:10:54 AM | "Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was in Richmond, Va., when he was served a summons to appear in court on federal dogfighting charges."
I heard he was given special treatment, they secretly arranged to have him pick up his summons in the early morning, coming in from a back door , so that the media and protesters wouldnt know he was there.
"The Los Angeles Times reported commissioner Roger Goodell wants Vick to take a paid leave of absence, but Vick is refusing."
Big mistake ......he is going to regret it if he shows up at the stadium, the media will be all over there.
"Emmitt Smith thinks investigators targeted Vick to get to others involved in an alleged dogfighting operation." Now, granted he might have been to a dogfight a time or two, maybe five times, maybe 20 times, may have bet some money, but he's not the one you're after".
Ummm.... they were using Vicks property.

Looks like it's started already: """PETA protesters at Falcons headquarters FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (July 23, 2007) -- Animal-rights advocates and their dogs gathered outside Atlanta Falcons headquarters, calling for the suspension of Michael Vick following his indictment on dogfighting charges.........About four dozen people took part in the protest organized by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. They held signs reading "Kick Vick," "Tackle Cruelty" and "Sack Vick!" ........"""

| Michael Vick Posted: 7/23/2007 5:48:22 PM | Looks like the protesting is starting to work
Michael Vick was ordered by commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to stay away from the Atlanta Falcons' training camp until the league reviews the dog fighting charges against him.
"While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy," Goodell said in a letter to the quarterback.

ya. not only that; this is kinda interesting:
"""The NFL also is planning a series of public service announcments throughout the football season in which active players will be doing commercials on the very subject. The league has not yet determined which players it will be using, but it is expected to be high-profile ones to help show the league is taking the issue seriously. """

| Michael Vick Posted: 7/24/2007 4:22:17 PM | In response to "bellydancer18's reply reguarding animal rights activists joining together and making damn sure he doesn't go without a major thorn in his side.....SHES ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Animal activists have the memorys of elephants, because we believe strongly in the cause. This man has no business being on the field playing any sport. He has shown he has an immoral character, and his heart is cold. I think his days of playing are numbered, as they should be. False charges? Please! The only real way to deal with his ass is to put him in the pit ring with one or more of his dogs. Turn around is fair play. I don't think the coward would stand a chance. I think this is a sad situation, because no matter what the courts or the NFL tends to give him for a punishment, the damage is done. The dogs in this case are the ones who paid the penalty for it...with their lives. However, I hope the people out there don't let this slide. This can be a landmarker in the favor of fighting dogs all over if the justice system steps up and throws the book at him. High paid attorny or not. Be it with one letter, protests, anyway to show your anger with Vick's actions, EVERYONE can do their part in helping to see this act of cruely is put to an end. | |

| Michael Vick Posted: 7/24/2007 10:59:48 PM | well...I was leaning towards a 10-6 year but I'll change that to 6-10 hehe
as far as my personal opinion, if he is found guilty then he should be punished for his actions and if he is found innocent he better demand a trade or something because his image is ruined...I think Jon Kitna is more marketable than he is now haha

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals(PETA'S) is looking for people to sign a petition to have Michael Vick suspended from the NFL .
first off let me say....vick if convicted should be put in jail for a long time. He was totally wrong and a complete moron if the feds get him.....
now...on to peta
Peta...ug...moral?....this is a group who started fire to a rat lab, injuring one person i might add......If you dont agree with vick, the dont agree with him, and you shouldnt. but dont let peta talk about moral and signin any petition.
peta also believes that all animals should run free in the streets, no one should have dogs as pets.
a member of peta who was saved because of animal research, also screams and yells against animal research, but lives becuase of animal research....
still want to sign that petition?....
dont beleive the hype... let me add...I love animals, I have had 2 dogs as pets, one cat, a bird......
so dont think i dont like animals...i just dont like peta...
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/25/2007 12:49:12 PM | There are other petitions going around. Wondering if any of them make a difference though....
Money buys you anything you want, as evidenced by most of the rich and famous in our society.
It'll be interesting to see how this one runs it's course.
As an emotional voice for animals, I hope they string him up by his.... no wait.... he doesn't have any..... no man with 'em would treat an animal with such incredible cruelty.
He's not a man. I love men. He's a much lower life-form and I only hope the people that love sports and football give him the attention he deserves if he's ever allowed to play again.
CONVICTION OR NOT... | |
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/25/2007 12:55:08 PM | If he is guilty he should never play football again..but wait until the courts find him guilty. What happened to due process? I am not a big fan of his attitude, but I agree it does seem like the rich can buy there was out of stuff they do.
I would never be cruel to an animal...I love dogs too much to hurt one..that being said I like Collies as my favorite breed..now back to Mr Vick..he does not respect fans he seems selfish..if he is found guilty get rid if him.
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/25/2007 1:38:56 PM | OJ defense, you are going picking on a star Black Athlete and this does not make any sense, this whole trial dose not make any sense .....
dismissed | |
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/25/2007 2:29:10 PM | I checked out Peta's petition and your not required to join, give them money or attend a raid on a research lab that is torturing dogs and cats. If your not comfortable with them, then google for another petition if you want.
Just so everyone knows the NFL doesnt need a conviction of guilty to suspend Michael Vick. Under the personal conduct policy, Goodell can suspend Vick for 1 year, he is presently reviewing the charges to see if it is applicable.
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/25/2007 4:27:25 PM | I for one am extremely curious how this trial is going to play out. Did Vick actualy kill the dogs himself or give his nod of approval. Electrocution, drowning and body slamming dogs to death...c'mon Ron Mexico, what the hell is up with that!
Regardless of the debate Ron Mexico will not play a down until this case is wrapped up. Who can figure out the logic of a multi-millionair athlete participating in such a barbaric sport.
Hey at least he took the attention away from Pacman Jones. He only **** slapped a few strippers and had his crew shoot a bouncer. Why is he suspended...lol!
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/25/2007 10:34:42 PM | When your a big star athlete, you need to be cautious of who you associate with and what you do in your "offtime" as newscasters and reporters are there to report and bad move you make.
I assume he will get suspended and thats it. No way in heck will his career be over from a dog fight.
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 4:48:32 AM | | this will drag on for a few years too | |
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 5:38:53 AM |
No way in heck will his career be over from a dog fight. Not sure if this was a typo, but it wasn't "A" dogfight. It involved MUCH more than "A" dogfight hon.
The allegations alledge his total involvement in the absolute cruelty that this sickness implies.
For THAT, I hope he's fired, trashed by the media, dropped by all current sponsors and his name sullied for the rest of his "career playing days"......
Sign the petition to the NFL and the Humane Society.... but sign SOMETHING if you want to see some action.
Time we made OUR voices known outside the forums people! Don't let the MEDIA decide this one.

| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 6:23:16 AM | | no amount of pettitions or protests from peta, paul or mary are going to influence the nfl on the vick issue. this is clear cut criminal activity and the league recognizes this and will act, or even over react accordingly. | |
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 9:34:12 AM | | flthymcnsty ........petitions help.....protesting helps......it shows that people care and want something done about it. Goodell responded quickly after protests and petitioning, not allowing Vick to attend training camp. The NFL doesnt want this kind of attention or a circus of media and protesters hanging around. Sure the criminal activity will ultimately decide his fate, but they could still allow him to play until that happens. | |
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 9:47:16 AM | | why would the league even think of allowing him to paricipate? these are not groundless allegations. and the league is under no obligation to go by the "innocent until proven guilty" standard. | |
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 10:13:42 AM | | I know they dont have to wait for a conviction, but why did Goodell wait so long to announce he was reviewing the personal conduct policy and why hasnt he suspended him yet. I think he was in a "wait and see" mode and it was because of the pressure that he finally decided to start doing something. | |
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 10:24:15 AM | I for one am shocked about the 'cold bloodedness' of his actions (if in fact true). The only comparisons that even come close that I am aware of is OJ, and maybee that linebacker who got blasted, killed a couple of people when driving drunk (when he was playing for the Detroil Lions) then after serving jail time getting a 2nd and 3rd DUI as a member of the St. Louis Rams. What the hell was that guys name? Anyways ,it could be argued that even OJ's action were less cold blooded. At least he had some sort of emotions wrapped up into his ex before he decided to butcher her (Ron Goldman was in the wrong place at the wrong time, unfortunately). Vick is accused of killing dogs just because they were not good fighting dogs. And the means chosen to execute these dogs, electrocution, drowning, body slamming. I really can't think of any more cruel ways to kill a dog. Was he trying to teach a lesson to the dogs that were borderline fighters? Very, very cold blooded if true. If it is, I hope his career is over for good (probably not though, unfortunately). I would love to see all his assest seized and handed over to animal shelters. Now that would be justice! | |

| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 1:11:50 PM | Michael Vick pleads not guilty in court today.
Trial date is set for Nov. 26 , 2007
Some conditions for Vick
Cant buy or sell dogs Must give up his breeders license Must hand in his passport.
The plea bargaining will probably start now.
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 1:24:05 PM | | the plea bargaining will indeed start. but i'm not so sure vick will be able to take advantage of it. from all accounts i've read or heard he is the major player and guy they want in this case. i'm waiting for the race card to be thrown into this, soon to be, circus. who will be the first to say : "if this was a cawk fighting operation ...blah blah blah.." | |
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 1:59:49 PM | In an interview with a Virginia television station Friday, Washington Redskin's Portis and a teammate, offensive tackle Chris Samuels, defended Vick. Portis said that if Vick is charged and convicted of dogfighting, "then you're putting him behind bars for no reason." "I don't know if he was fighting dogs or not, but it's his property. It's his dog. If that's what he wants to do, do it," Portis told WAVY-TV in Norfolk. Samuels laughed as Portis spoke and said it wasn't fair that people were rushing to conclusions about Vick's involvement. "You can't accuse this man of something and throw the book at him right now," Samuels said.
At Redskins Park on Tuesday, Samuels said that he and Portis were wrong for joking about dogfighting. "It's very serious," Samuels said. "We don't agree with dogfighting."
Sure once everybody made a big deal about what they said....then of course they say, "just joking."
|
| Michael Vick Posted: 7/26/2007 2:30:37 PM | | i saw that interview with portis and it was about six weeks ago. he sounded like an absolute idiot. and he wasn't joking. i think he was just to damn stupid to know that it was illegal. | |
