| | Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ???Page 2 of 5 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) | My house often looks like it's been tallibanded but like others have said I would hope my friends are coming round to see me and not the house..
I am very clean but don't mind things out of place and you'll always find an array of books around the place and an ironing pile that would put a Chinese laundry to shame....
Maybe I should put on my profile that I am looking for a man with OCD then I won't have to worry about cleaning up....

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/21/2007 5:28:17 PM | My home is always reasonable. It is clean....ish, it is tidy....ish.
It has a teenager on school holidays, so at the moment, it is being lived in to the hilt, and I mean lived in..... every room from the kitchen to the bathroom and everyroom in between oh and not to forget the garden, even out there is not safe from him and his things.................... bless...........oh yeah, I'm also trying to decorate at the same time - *stupid women*

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/21/2007 11:54:51 PM | My house is clean but not always tidy. Two of the bedrooms are tidy as they are not lived in. All washing up goes into the dishwasher and dirty clothes go into the laundry bin. I have to hoover daily as my dog is moulting but I am lazy in that I put things down without thinking so the living room quite often looks like a bomb has hit it. The whole house needs redecorating but that can wait until after the divorce as my solicitor has said that any work I do to up the house value will just add to my final costs when I have to buy the ex out.
I don't tidy up just because I have visitors if they don't like it then they don't have to visit a 2nd time, People that visit do so to see me not to inspect my house.

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/22/2007 12:52:40 AM | | I have a small cottage and not enough space so it is difficult to keep it tidy and dusting doesn't get done as often as it should. Having a border collie which sheds hairs daily - plus an open fire - doesn't help. I vac downstairs once every couple of days and upstairs once a week. And I am always trying, but failing, to de-clutter. I'm ashamed to say that I have been known to dive out of sight on hearing an unexpected knock at the door! And yes I do give the house a thorough spring clean when expecting visitors. Sad innit.... | |

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/22/2007 1:41:45 AM | My house represents me, I expect people to take me as they find me as I do of others....who gives a crap about the state of someones house??
Boring existence if the important things in life are how people perceive you are based on whether your house is tidy!
My house often looks like I've had burgalars, one day I will have been and won't even know....til I come to use my pc!!

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/22/2007 2:05:37 AM | My house is ok, clean but never tidy... Kids always bring in toys into the lounge etc... I work 5 days a week and the kids do afterschool activities which means I am hardly ever in until 7 pm.. I do a bit of cleaning everyday but there is more to life...
Saying that.. Got to pick up my mum from the airprt this afternoon... The house is spotless !!!!

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/22/2007 2:46:07 AM | Had the police round the house for a technical application, place was in a right mess, but blamed it on the fact that had come back from a long and wet weekend
seems i have always been like it, people can like it or not, but not one of these people who spends hours tidying up stuff
sister's mate's mum has some compulsive cleaning fetish, so she came into the house at times from concerts covered in mud, with all her kit covered in mud, used to keep the mother busy for days
maybe get the kids to tidy up their mess ?

So my question is this ... is your house in visitor ready status at all times or as soon as the door is knocked are you to be found shoving stuff in cupboards and under the sofa? Should people take us as they find us? My 1 bedroomed flat is quite messy, I sort of live out of my bedroom where my computer is. No one usually comes to my flat but if they do, I tend to clean up, vaccumm and wash the pots.

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/22/2007 5:09:07 AM | Who gives a toss if your house is clean and tidy enough?! I certainly don't! The only people who worry about that kind of thing are those who are worried about what other people think of them and they're not worth the time of day in my opinion!
God! That was a long sentence.
I like to keep my place presentable but I don't go out of my way to make it look immaculate! I like a house that has some clutter, bits and bobs strewn about the place and whatever else have you. It feels homely and lived in as opposed to a house that is pristine and immaculate.

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/22/2007 5:45:43 AM | | If 'Enough' can be characterised as being able to throw all the clutter into a cupboard by the time someone gets to my front door after ringing the downstairs buzzer then yes, underneath that clutter its generally vacumed, not really a polishing person though. | |

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/22/2007 8:31:24 AM | My home is always open to my friends and family. If it happens to be untidy, then so be it. It can be messy at times throughout the week, but it's never dirty.
Whoever comes into my home accepts me as i am. If they don't, they can fooke off.

you could eat your dinner of my cludgie,
A tempting thought, though I think that C would prefer if I ate tonight's chili off a plate.
this is an exclusive offer to all you sad lonely men out there,
Especially those who eat with their mouth open.
OT My house is rather open-plan downstairs, so I have to ensure that the three rooms (kitchen, dining and living) are always presentable when guests are due, as well as the downstairs loo. Recently, however, I've made an effort to have the whole house in such a state, due to the recent unexpected visitors. I'm rather pleased with my efforts, too, although I don't mind going to friends' houses and finding them in a tip.

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/22/2007 9:34:49 AM | | The only time my house is ever less than tidy, is when I have got visitors, which is virtually every day, must admit to being abit c.o.d. where my home is concerned, at last if its tidy and in order, I have one part of my life under control, I cant stand mess of any sort !!! | |

Recently, however, I've made an effort to have the whole house in such a state I didnt think it was that bad Vin!!
OT: My house is never too bad. I only have me to think about and make a mess so I tend to keep on top of things as I go along. I do have a lodger, but he is very neat and tidy, so no problem there. Hopefully, if I ever get unexpected guests, they would find my house welcoming and comfortable.

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/22/2007 2:22:37 PM | my place has a lived in feel...
it feels like it lived in by a bunch of fifteen 19yr old students who cant be f***ed doing any housework...
I dont like spending my weekends doing things like tidying when i have more important things to do like playing on the pc or going out socialising

| Sudden Visitors - Is Your House Clean & Tidy Enough ??? Posted: 7/22/2007 2:50:15 PM | I came to the conclusion yrs ago that if my house was untidy .. loads would call unexpectedly... (my pet hate) not that im antisocial or anything yet these days apart from toys its never too untidy, no one calls... which is ace As for the cleaner after a caesarean, i used to clean before she came ? ! But if it happens to be a mess i do get embarrassed and blame the kids or dog even the goldfish... | |
