One doesn't find cougars.
They do the finding.
That's the nature of a cougar. They're on the hunt. They know what they want and that's a little fun that pretty much always includes sex.

As a youngin' (high school and just after) all I did was hang out in adult bars. Sit at the bar, sip my drinks and be receptive.
That was fun. Sucks that I had to grow up.

Really, really you are going to tell me I said something wrong? What you said is really stupid. First off, the amount of money that is made doesn't really prove anything about smarts......possibly the smart woman decided to stay home and raise her children. Possibly she chose family instead of getting ahead in the work place.....could that be? And generally speaking, still in this day and age, men are still paid more for the same jobs that women do. And, you proved my point about how immature men are. I was making a jab, but I'm guessing (?) you must be too.

Frankly, this whole "Cougar" discussion is stupid. Let me get this straight..... The older women feels flattered to have the young boys ask them out.....for sex, to teach the boys something, and the older women love that the guys can go on forever. And the young girls like older men because they are more mature than the young ones, and sexually they know what they are doing even though they don't stand tall so quickly, and well, the older guys like the younger women for their young bodies. Okay, so, tell me, and then what? So.....yeah, sex is great with someone who does it for you physically, as well as mentally. Hey, any relationship I guess is possible......that is if a relationship is what's wanted. But.......I'm guessing this discussion isn't really about finding the perfect relationship........

I know I did, that was the whole point. Congrats, you get it.

I made a jab back. I said something just as stupid as you did. That was the entire point.

I'm with you Goldenheart. I've been on 2 wks and the majority of responses are from younger guys. I think many of the guys in our age range are seriously into getting a 30 yr old one last time before they die. LOL. I am astounded that so many men in their 50's still don't get the fact that the best sex comes more from a mental/emotional connection than a physical one. I think it's why they are divorced. Maybe the guys who are still married in their 50's have figured it out-at least this is what I hear from woman my age married 20+ yrs. It's sad to think a whole generation of men ascribes to a Hugh Hefner philosophy. I've also noticed the younger guys are more assertive and the older guys like the women to make the first, second...move.

P.S. Before I get smacked-I'm sure there are some guys out there not like this and this rant was not meant for you.

I've never really gotten into the whole 'cougar' thing. But i'm different. I'm open to meeting anyone is a genuinely a nice person. As for a relationship, will I be in a LTR with someone who is 2o years older than me? I dont think so. But I am open to date someone older than me. This is one thing in life that you have no control over. If you meet someone and you have that kind of connection, then there's nothing wrong with that, but I dont specifically go look out for 'cougars'. Not about being with someone just for sex purposes, think its way better if you connect in all other areas too.

I'm 44, i have no interest in a cougar in her 50's. none, nada. If i want to have sex, i'll find a woman about my age, that still has a decent body. not well, old. So all you cougs can get down off your self made pedestals, not all us guys want you. I like most guys, prefer a woman close to my age. Not a 20 something , not a 50 something. Amazing how a young guy will hit anything just to bust one. hilarious.

I was a little confused by some of the posts by men in their 40s and 50s talking about whether or not they would want a cougar, stating they would prefer women in their own age group.

According to urbandictionary.com, a cougar is a 35-50 year old woman who is hunting a 20-something man. Not only is she in your age group, but she would not be interested in hunting men in their 40s and 50s. She would consider you too old.

I think we are all better off dating within our own age group.

I agree that we are better off dating within our age group. I go to bars not 'on the prowl' as you men say but just to have a good time. If I get hit on by men younger than me does that make me a cougar? Hardly! I wasn't on the prowl for them...they found me but it doesn't mean I took them home with me either or that I was hunting for them....

So what do you call old men looking or 'on the prowl' for younger women? their midlife crisis? seems kind of strange...that that's okay.....

Well, let's be honest and open about this one...

Both men and women dislike the fact that either of them date younger people. Their thinking is that why someone their own age isn't good enough, someone's who's lived longer, is more experienced, etc. I can fully understand that. It's not fun to be this or that age and see men/women date seemingly ridiculous "cases". Of course it's all about sex. I don't care about the few exceptions or cliches for excuses on either part. It's nonsense. If you ever date someone who's significantly younger than you, ask yourself why. How much future is there for you in the first place? How do you picture the two of you a decade from now? When you're older you're past certain stages in life that the younger isn't. It'll be a challenge no doubt. Denying one's age and making up excuses is nothing but ridiculous.

I'm not sure any of this matters at all. A cougar is a cat in the wild. Take it or leave it. Love it or hate it. It would take a tremendous effort of unfeeling attitude to wipe them off the face of the planet. One would be vilified for it too, since they are living things that many believe are capable of having feelings like you and me. The adventurous youthful vitality of men that are capable of finding them in the wild, capture their beauty. Either you appreciate the images as a coffee table book in your domestic environs, or you can hide your eyes from it all in favor of a vacuum cleaner and dishes, or backyard grill and a lawn mower. You get to choose!

I'm more like a Snow Leopard myself ::growls::

I'm wondering to myself why all these women NOT interested in men half their age are leaving their mail settings open so they can be contacted by them, maybe they enjoy the attention?
I've had the creepy 50 yr old guys hit on me and the obviously hungry for sex 20 somethings hit on me also, neither appeal to me because I want something real, so I set my mail settings to weed out those that are obviously a bad choice to me.
I don't need the attention of some 25 yr old to make me feel good about myself nor could I really expect more than something cheap and fleeting out of a sexual relationship with somebody so young, so why bother with then at all?
As for you guys who are looking for somebody half your age, please stop embarrassing yourselves

I personally prefer younger men, 21-26. They potentially have less baggage. Although thats just my opinion.

I thought (probably too much) about filtering by age and decided not to. I've had the same crazy email from both very young and naive or old and potentially unwell. I decided to leave it open because I can handle it. I don't necessarily want it. I just don't want to miss meeting friendly people that have something valuable to say outside the realm of sex. The ratio for that is pretty low. Still, there are topics in the forum that transcend sex. When I participate, I don't want to block email just because of age. I block solicitations for 'intimate encounters' whatever that means LOL. I use the setting that says they must not have contacted members for that purpose. I assume that's a good balance. I don't know.

P~S-

I think you're jumping to conclusions on that one. I'm sure I'm not the only lady that falls under this reason: My age filters are open because from time to time I'm active in the forums and have a few forum friends. They fall outside of the age range I'm open to dating, but my profile gives more specifics on what I am and am not looking for in a man so that usually takes care of it. This site isn't just for dating, as evidenced by the varied options under "looking for"

not every young guy thinks as u do either, some really enjoy being with older ladies because they know there no taken for a ride . some older women as u put it know how to treat a younger guy and really rather be with a younger guy because they arent hurt as bad , and it makes them feel alive, and wanted ,and needed , so if u preferr the ladies ur age thats fine. but dont bash out at us older ladies until u have tried it . we need love too . not just out for sex, and besides if we r. u men do the same thing look for sex only thing . so give us a break and let us live too ok i thought u were an amazing guy until i read this , i couldnt believe i seen that here from u . i guess u never heard the old saying either ,[ older women make better lover ] have a great day ....

Personally, I like dating younger guys. I have a young mentality and find I have more common interests with people younger than myself, but there is a point where it starts to feel "weird" and I can't stop thinking "OMG this kid is younger than my little brothers".

I get a lot of response from people younger than my "cut off age", and I have to admit I get tempted, but I'm hoping for an eventual LTR, and I just cant see it happening with someone that much younger than myself.

Just my humble opinion.

I read something this week as I was driving it goes like this...

"Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional."

You didnt have to "grow up" you let society tell you you have to be a certain way when you get to a certain age...Have fun in this life we only have a short time in it!

I do not consider myself to be a cougar as I do not "hunt" anyone at any age. It is the person that I see not a number. I want to share life with someone. And if he happens to be in his 20's or 30's or 40's so be it...If he fits my list I will talk to him if not I am not wasting his time or his money. Or mine.

In reference to Neitzschean's post: "Am I the only guy who finds this whole cougar thing just plain comical? Yeah in Hollywood you're going to find some attractive 30-somethings, who have been trainer-reared airbrushed most of their lives so they can keep up their careers. However most later twenty somethings look older than them and the real life 30 somethings look much worse than that. Oh are you going to say older women are less irrational than younger girls? I don't know about wisdom or experience but they definitely have baggage and angst in far greater quantities than younger girls.

Oh and they have the saggy gams. "

DUDE!! YOU ARE 35! YOU ARE TOO OLD TO SPARK A COUGAR'S INTEREST. And besides, if you have women interested in you AT ANY AGE, with any degree of sag, I'd suggest you jump on it!! I suspect the door's not straining from the hoards of women trying to beat it down.

OMG.... LAughing my butt off reading wonderwomans post,
guess it is just our time. When we were younger we were sluts for having a few partners while men were studs. Now your a pervert and I am a cougar, I'm good with it.

wow i'm 38 so i guess im pushing the lines of that pervert comment.. lol

I myself really ...no really date by someones personality, i mean i would be lieing if i said every now and then yes the young eye candy dosent catcvh my attention, but as long as they dont talk its cool.... I AM SOO JUST KIDDING PLEASE DONT SLAM ME

When i was 36 I dated a 22 yr old and the last person I dated was 54, and truthfully i have found my personal preference to be between 28 & 38, I guess because the old saying ladies mature faster then men so hence the 28 and the ladies that were older than me and maby it was just the 3 I hang out with were way too clingy, kinda like im getting older and i want a steady long term relationship NOW!!!

I kno i am not the young whipper snapper that cougars go after , BUT REALLY GIVE ME A TRY....LOL. JUST KIDDING

In closing because I see im rembling, I think the whole Cougar thing is just the new day and age and Men use to go after younger girls, why cant the ladies have their candy also.

BUT IN MY EYES WHAT EVER MAKES YOU HAPPY, NO REGRETS

I am 39 and find that most of my responses come from very young men. I am not adverse to dating younger men, actually wouldn't mind finding a nice "young'in". The problem..... they want a cougar then they meet me and I don't look like Demi Moore... I ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE A 39 YEAR OLD!!! Who knew?

I agree with Chatterly!! A cougar does not want a man past the age of 40, so these guys who say they dont want a cougar, well thats good cuz they dont want you. And you guys over 40 looking for a cougar, not a chance in hell.
Sorry.
