| Natural Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrom Posted: 1/29/2008 6:54:32 PM | Try completely eliminating gluten and casein from the diet. These are proteins that can cause problems when incompletely digested and then they can combine to create a toxin that irritates the nervous system.
Gluten is in wheat and some other grains, and casein is in dairy.
Be careful of even small amounts which can be added to many processed foods. Read labels carefully.
This often works when nothing else will.
All vegetables, meats and fruits are ok. Rice and potatoes can replace the carbs, but for gout, remove all meat for at least 2 weeks. Gout is caused by crystallized urea. Urea only is produced by eating meat. Alcohol can make gout worse, but removing alcohol alone isn't enough to cure it.

| Natural Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrom Posted: 1/30/2008 1:46:12 AM | Try the watercure. www.watercure2.com and watercure.com Never drink liquid with meals. I only drink water 30 minutes to 1 hour before eating something he may have to wait 2 hours. You have to wait 2 hours after eating. I have acid reflux and heart burn and it really works. The problem is when you drink water and eat the digestive juices get diluted so the food will stay in your stomache longer. Another thing he can do is eat without watching tv, listening to music or talking. This helps digestion I don't know why but it does, if you don't believe me get him to try it he will see. Also make sure to chew well that also helps with digestion.
He should write a food journal, write down what he ate, how much and you he felt after eating certain foods. If this doesn't work for you a natropathic doctor can really help you but you may have to find a few to get a good one.

| Natural Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrom Posted: 1/30/2008 12:35:42 PM | | The best thing your friend can do is to go on any type of fast(i'd suggest starting with a fruit/vegetable juice fast). IBS is a group of symtoms that can occur when the digestive track is stressed out and fasting is a natural way to give the digestive track time to rest and heal. Any type of stress can cause problems but IBS is especially stress caused by foods that are not digested properly . A fast of 5 days would be helpful because every 3 to 5 days digestive cells are replaced. Although if the symptoms are bad they will probably need to repeat the fast. All fruit/vegetable juice consumed should be juiced with a juicer rather than store bought. Also the juicer used is important as it should remove all of the pulp so that the body will not have to digest the fiber. A naturopath or fasting clinic nearby can guide your friend through the process, as breaking the fast is very important and should be done with caution. A great book to start on fasting is called "Rational Fasting" by Arnold Ehret. While on the fast, your friend might want to consider changing their diet to involve plenty of fruits and vegetables and cut back processed foods. | |

| Natural Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrom Posted: 4/7/2009 10:54:07 PM | ok IBS I had this for a period of eight years and it was a massive change in my life. I now realized it was a combination of stress and food, but could you have it from just stress any one who poo poos this really should not as I my self didnt belive untill I had it no more , the proof was in the pudding so to speak, my stress was my former husband, and we have been with out each other for 5 years now I have only ever suffered with it once since and that was when he kicked of at my home with my children and the police had to be called.,apart from that I have never had it again.
Food with IBS for me was iol or fryed food for sure and if you eat lots of fatty foods, people dont realize how much fat goes it to food so , fruit ,veg a littel lean protien and for me very littel bread or pasta, you can still get your carb with rice, potatoes and banans.
Like all things what set one person of will not set a nother thats why we had diffrent meds for diffrent people ect there is no wonder cure trial and error as they say.
The other thing to mention is we are not always aware of stress with in our selfs ect,I have leart about this whist doing a counselling course which is a whole new thread indeed.

| Natural Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrom Posted: 5/17/2009 8:17:12 AM | There is the cause and then there is the effect. IBS is only the effect. Trying to treat the effect with 'food' does nothing to treat the cause - kind of like backing up a semi from Maine to California. It can be done, but there is an easier way. The cause is stress, still lodged in his solar plexus chakra. Tell your friend to find a good Pranic Healer and have it cleared out. Then he will feel better than ever and he can eat whatever he wants. | |

| Natural Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrom Posted: 5/25/2009 6:43:31 PM | For many, stress does aggravate the condition. But for many, problems with certain foods are also a common problem.
Fried, and fatty foods, can cause inflammation in the bowels.
Food allergies, like those to certain nuts, dairy, or wheat allergies like gluten intolerance, can also be a problem.
Alcohol and caffeine can aggravate the symptoms for some.
For some, it's genetic. I've had issues with it from time to time. My mother had severe IBS for many years.
Low stomach acid may be a problem for some, because food does not get properly digested enough after it leaves the stomach and enters the intestines. Some medications like acid reducers, etc, lower stomach acid.
For some, there can also be an uneven level of good versus bad bacteria in the lower intestines. Many things can lead to these uneven levels.
Stress, food allergies, or sensitivities, or family history, seem to be the main culprit for most.

Knowing what is “state of the art” in terms of IBS management will help you take a more active role in your treatment partnership with your doctor.
What’s New:
Diagnosis
The ACG now recommends that all IBS patients be screened for celiac disease and lactose intolerance due to being at higher risk for having these conditions.

| Natural Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrom Posted: 6/2/2009 3:09:12 PM | Check out the SHINE protocol, by Jacob Teitelbaum.
Second the candida theory...heard this guy on the radio, says that folks who take the SHINE for sinus problems, also get cured for IBS.

| Natural Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrom Posted: 6/24/2009 10:33:29 PM | | I have celiac disease(gluten intolerance), and its commonly misdiagnosed as IBS. My mom has celiac disease and for years she was told it was IBS. One thing i noticed you said was that it was triggered by stress and never went away. Celiac disease can be dormant and trigger from stress or a car wreck... or any big event in your life. | |

| Natural Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrom Posted: 6/25/2009 7:42:30 PM | Irritable bowel syndrom usually comes on during times of extreme stress and then tapers off . If you are looking for natural remedies try a peppermint tea bag infused w/lukewarm (12oz.)or cold water and mix a teaspoon for starters of slippery elm bark powder this is a great demuluscent and it will help calm and cool your yang in your stomach. Plus it is a great digestion aid and very nutritious . You can purchace slippery elm bark from a online herb store if you don't have one around that has this. (it looks gross but doesn't have any taste)
What you need to remember about IBS is that is the spasms in your intestines that are making you uncomfortable and the fact that you have these spasms makes your food digest slower so therefore some of it sits and ferments and adds gas on top of injury. Make sure your probiotics are up to snuff, increase your fiber a little bit at a time so as not to overwhelm your system and find away to release the tension so that your GI tract does not have to pay for this.
