Unless it is self defense. It's not funny to see a woman hit a man. My ex's brother gets hit by his girlfriend all the time. I was told she throws him around like a ragdoll. She better never do it in front of me. I'd be putting a stop to it. That is unacceptable.

Does that clear things up for you waterwitch? You can believe what you want, but I'd love to hear from a real person in law enforcement on this topic. I think you'd be in for a surprise.

You aren't making sense here - and I've read too many of your posts to think you are ignorant. First you claim it's a legal issue, now you excuse it by saying men aren't likely to press charges. Now, I happen to agree, men aren't likely to press charges. But MY point is, in the US they no longer have that option. In the instance that the police become involved in cases of domestic violence, someone goes to jail. Normally, it is the one who is least injured, or still obviously antagonistic when the police arrive. Not always. And it isn't a fair system, but it's the one we have and it's a damn sight better than what we had before. Now, if you want to continue to cry foul and hope to find an audience who will feel sorry for poor little you, feel free. I'm irritated that you seem to take such joy in arguing in circles rather than having a debate and making an effort to understand anything new.
As for hearing from someone in law enforcement, when my neighbor, a Fulton Co homicide detective gets off shift, I could go ask him to quote me the code we were just discussing last week, but I think he has better things to do than to provide you with something you choose not to believe. | |

Nope, I said "they will unlikely press charges", as in the police. Where did I say anything about the men not pressing charges? Although, they rarely do. You should really read it more carefully before you jump to comment. Also, you later go on to talk about situations where domestic violence has occurred...what does have to do with this? Of course, if the police are called into such a situation, then an arrest usually has to be made, usually the male, because there is now a record of the incident and the system demands that something be done. If they just happen to see a female slap a male on the street, though, it is unlikely they will do anything unless he retaliates.
Now, if you want to continue to cry foul and hope to find an audience who will feel sorry for poor little you, feel free.

So if your wife attacks you with a large chefs knife and you bruise her arm or cause some dwelling in her wrist in the act of disarming her. And she acts amiable once the cops show up buut you are still understandably agitated by the attack ...... who does it look like was the aggressor? Sure it is slowly changing but the system is still pretty easy to manipulate. And unlike the US system of filling up as many jails as possible, personally I'd prefer to see a shift in attitudes that ends up having less people in jail because they behave in a more acceptable manner. Things like the next quote being seen for what they are.

Now surely this was in jest. But if roles were reversed here how many (man or woman) would think it a good idea to advocate let's say beating a woman with a bat (comparable to a car hit) in a dark alley and robbing her before she can waste her money on shoes, even in an attempt at humour? How many people dress their kids in clothes that state "throw rocks at girls"?
The "free pass" women have gotten on violence only encourages some to commit acts they otherwise would not. There might be room for humour regarding violence but really not used among children that are still delevoping a sense of who they are and what is right or wrong (as in not really offended by that last post being an adult forum, but man if said around kids that woman would be getting an earful).
The law on paper can change quickly, attitudes shift much slower (the same thing happened with drunk driving). It can be decades before it really becomes socially unacceptable. | |

I DO have a son. Though I didn't need to give birth to one to have respect for men. I have a fantastic Pop. I grew up with wonderful male role models. I have dated some truly wonderful men. At no point, in ANY post from me have you or would you EVER see me advocate hitting, taking advantage of, being disrespectful to or in any other way harming a man. As it happens, I ADORE men. But I am tired of being lumped in with any woman who ever wronged a man. I'm tired of attempting to make a point, only to have some crap that happened to some guy you used to know's brother's cousin thrown up as evidence that all women are actually blood sucking vampires. I didn't say that laws are completely fair, they aren't. But I have had enough of being judged when you know NOTHING about me as an individual.
Yes, emphatically YES, there are some truly awful women in this world. Women who make me cringe to know we are both female. But I have met equally horrible men in my life, and... I do not judge each of you based on the knowledge I have of those few irresponsible, selfish, ignorant males.
I am so glad those of you who have continually whined and played your misogynistic mantra's are the minority of men. What a waste of time dating would be if all men felt that way about women!
Bring on the real men, who have minds of their own, make their own decisions and judgments! Who are open minded, loving and damn wild in bed! The rest of you can go home now, and hide in the corner from all the crazy women who are gathering to cheat you of the life you so richly deserve. | |

Posted: 5/8/2008 8:45:33 PM | I have not read all previous posts, for which I apologize. Under the law it is assault either way. But I do think that if a 5', 120 lb woman and a 6' 200 lb man get in a fight, the man is more likely to be charged than the lady, and more likely to be convicted if it goes that far.
My own experience is that I have been married twice and both of my wives slapped, punched, threw dishes at me, and so on, though I never returned the favor. I played football and rugby as a young man, so it was easy to protect myself and I was not harmed by it. I was well aware of the fact that I knew how to injure them, they did not know how to injure me. If I reacted in kind, they would have been hurt and I would have been charged. I suppose back then I would have thought it un-manly for a 185 lb athletic man to charge a 130 lb woman with assault and so I never did. Now, I would do so in a heartbeat.
To answer the original question, I do not think it is ever OK for a woman to hit or slap a man with serious intent except in self-defense. It is violence and a woman who escalates anger to that level is tacitly assuming that the man will not respond in kind. That is a dangerous assumption to make in the heat of an argument. There are much more constructive ways to express anger than violence. | |

BUT OTHER THAN THAT.. I would love to have a woman who would slap me around quite often.. I belt whipping for not making the bed, hand print on your back and thighs for spilling the milk, slapped across the face and titty twisters for tracking mud on the carpet, a wooden spoon on the backside for leaving hair in the sink???
