| Your Four Legged Kids Pet Names! Posted: 12/18/2008 5:52:24 PM | I have a 12 year old yellow tabby that I call Tigger. I got him when he was 3 weeks old, his eyes were still closed and I bottle fed him and used a warm rag to emulate his mothers cleaning him (and making him go to the bathroom). Needless to say, he and I are buddies.
Mostly he doesn't like girls (of any age) but there are a few exceptions. He hates to be petted softly but prefers the rougher scruffing like you would give a dog. He doesn't scratch furniture or climb on tables or counter tops and he is mortified of dragon flies (a common creature down here) but will go nose to nose with any dog (and win).

| Your Four Legged Kids Pet Names! Posted: 12/24/2008 7:20:32 PM | I've enjoyed reading this post on pets... Thanks Op.
For me, I have a 90 pound baby named Mollie. She was named Mollie by the family I got her from. At 14 weeks she was already coming to the name and so I left it that. It seemed appropriate since she loves kids and my neighborhood has plenty to play with.
Mollie is a black lab who by definition is a water dog... she does in deed love the water... I call her Dips sometimes because she will always get wet if given any kind of opportunity. Just ask my girlfriend who was over last year who left the door open while taking a shower.... did I mention immediate company!
I also call her Hoppy because she gets excited and literally hops up and down like a rabbit.
I call her prancer when she is in seek and find mode.
I also call her Muffin... because she is warm and comforting...just like a good hot muffin.
The funny thing is, she knows those names are associated with her and she always responds to your commands...
Are pets not great... | |

| Your Four Legged Kids Pet Names! Posted: 12/28/2008 4:48:44 PM | I have 3 dogs and 4 cats.
Dogs
Arinna - nicknamed Bug Angel - nicknamed Princess Shyla - nicknamed Muffin, Muffle-up-a-gus, Muff Puff, Little Tail, Monkey Butt, and others
Cats
Freyja - no nicknames, she's far too regal to acknowlege a nickname Precious - nicknamed #@$*%!!! when she's rotten, or Purr Kitty when she's good Feran - nicknamed Pretty Boy Finelle - nicknamed Little Girl
Oddly enough, they all know their real names and their nicknames. When I want the dogs to do something as a group, like everyone sit, I don't use names, I call them by "Dogs", and they know I mean all of them (Dogs, sit).

| Your Four Legged Kids Pet Names! Posted: 12/30/2008 9:19:17 PM | I was raised on a farm with MANY animals and we had all of them named........except the rabbits and chickens! Now, Mom still lives on that farm and still has quite a few animals. Of the cats that roamed about the house, there was one red cat named Houdini. He would make his way into the house no matter how many times you tossed him out of the house. He lived up to "the name" very well. Unfortunately, Mom bought some food that had been made in China and Houdini died from it.
We still talk about that cat from time to time!

I was raised on a farm with MANY animals and we had all of them named........ We were not allowed to name the cows, chickens, pigs or sheep because Dad found out that we didnt like to eat things we named!
The chickens, ducks, goats, dogs and cats could all be named. Only on rare occasion was a cat allowed in the house (wounded, sick etc.) but the dogs had free reign.

| Your Four Legged Kids Pet Names! Posted: 4/26/2009 5:40:41 PM | For those who haven't heard, one of my kitties - Wockett - aka Lord Thunderbutt - got out and I couldn't catch him a month ago. He's been hanging around but wanted so very badly to be an outdoor kitty.
Last Sunday night/Monday morning, he was hit by a car and killed about a block from the house. My son found him and he is how buried under the rose bush.
He left his litter mate, unwed, teenaged, and pregnant. Today at noon, she had five babies - I THINK four males and a female. At this juncture, they are named: Smokey, Haldir, Celeborn, Calypso, and Wockett Jr.
Yes, I like LOTR and POTC...

or Boo Boo. My father had a great big lab/rottie mix that was named BooBoo. Basically because any time I was out playing with him, I would need to be bandaged afterwards...
He got me so good one time that my sister who had witnessed my being laid low by the dog actually said that I was prostrate in mid air for at least two seconds before I slammed into the ground losing my breath... silly puppy didn't realize he was so huge...

| Your Four Legged Kids Pet Names! Posted: 5/2/2009 8:04:54 PM | I have two furry kids. Annie and Zaphod. Annie showed up on my doorstep half starved, and she looked like she had been in a big fight. On the drive out to Oklahoma, I came across Little Orphan Annie on the radio. She got her name right there.
Zaphod, well if you're not familiar with the name, then google Zaphod Beeblebrox, and you get an idea about how he acts.

| Your Four Legged Kids Pet Names! Posted: 6/21/2009 7:46:53 AM | I curretly have one spoiled rotten chow named Brandy (You're a fine girl, what a good wife you would be!), whose nickname is BrandyWHINE because that is how she communicates -that she wants a walk, a treat, playtime - that there's a cat or a dog in HER backyard (we live in an apartment complex!) The ONLY time I've heard her bark is when she sees something that "doesn't belong" there - she usually starts with a huff or two, then a chuff, and finally a bark. For example, a motorcycle covered with a tarp, a covered grill in the yard that hadn't been there before - a taxi cab with the driver asleep behind the wheel in front of the clubhouse this morning!
Brandy is from a rescue site in Florida, they rescued her from the Broward County kill shelter - all anyone knew is that she was an owner turn in and only had a couple of days left. I got her in Feb. 08 and she is a great girl- house broken, won't get up on the furniture, doesn't, chew, doesn't get in the garbage ...
