Circumcised vs Un-Circumcised...

My ex wanted to have our son circumcised. There was no way that was going to happen. Unfortunately, I learned from my mid-wife that he could take him to have it done in the hospital without my permission. I was shocked by that little bit of information. Can you imagine? That should only be allowed by both parents. I didn't have him at the hospital though, but a birth center, and the other two were home births. After I went over the difference, how it was done, the reason why most do it to this day, that there really is no reason for it to continue, he sided with me after a while. I've read that it's almost 40% now that are not opting for this elective procedure.

Personally, I think they should make the mother perform it on their own sons right after they give birth if they want to have it done. Then they would see just how horrible it is. Ask anyone that has been witness. At least those that I know that have been.

A friends husband had it done when he was a young teenager. Said his mother made him. I don't get why, but then he regrets it to this day. He noticed a difference in a loss of sensitivity, but then I'm sure that different for each person, as is evident from those on this thread that had it later in life.

It doesn't matter to me if the man I am with is circumcised or not, but if I happened across a man that wasn't - well, I might consider that the greatest bonus. I personally think those that aren't circumcised are more interesting to look at, play with. I love what nature put in place. Though in the end, no two are the same - as different as the man himself.

OP- I am answering your post and not reading what other have written. I have been with both -C and not C.
I know that I have had all my sons Un C.
I also know -being a woman and listening to men and how they feel.
An un-C male feels so much more than a C male. Why? because let's face it. When the head is exposed to clothing all day 24/7 it loses its sensitivity.
Whereas, an uncircumcised male when his head is shown. OMG! the nerve ending are so sensitive- they expode.
What types do women prefer? For me, I really do not care. As long as I know my partner is being pleased beyond limit, I am happy.
As far as putting a boy through this type of operation (no, wait they don't put the baby out when they do it) I do not agree to it.
I do not believe that as a parent- we have the right to take something that is not ours to take.
News Flash: do we all agree on female circumcision?

I have taken courses in Uni on Sex and the debate about circumcision:

Pros:-less likely to get a urinary tract infection
-decreased risk of testicular cancer
-some men report increased sensitivity (adulthood) after operation
-some women prefer it 'cut'
-less likely to spread an STD/yeast infection
-easier to keep clean

Cons:
-it's been reported that some men experience decreased sensitivity, therefore causing impotence
-might be easier to catch an STD
-scarring
-urethra is more exposed than perhaps it would have been if 'uncut'

That's just what I remember from that debate. My personal opinion...
I have dated only 1 guy who was uncut and when it was soft it looked kinda funny to me, but when he was hard that was a different story. I was a little turned off to give oral too. He kept it clean but an uncircumsized guy is still prone to 'smegma', which can smell and attract more bacteria. Again, a turn off to me.
Given the choice, I will take a cut guy anyday, but if I fall in love with a guy who's not cut, I won't love him less, I will just be very particular about the cleanliness of his organ. If I had a boy, I would get him cut too for health reasons.
No offence, but I just think that when they are cut they look better. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I've only been with one man who was un-cut and I have to admit I found it a turn on actually. Something sexy about the more natural look.

I had to go from uncut to cut when I was 12 years old many years ago. I was able to get hard but the skin was too tight and wouldn't roll back over the head of the penis. Since then being "cut" has never been a problem not sure if I would want to go back to being uncut.

I wasn't circumcised when I was a baby for some reason. I was born in a high-circumcision area, too, for newborns.

Anyway, I had to have it done when I was 21 (a year ago) since my doctor recommended it for health reasons cuz I had repeated infections.

I kinda miss the foreskin after all this time. It was something more and different to play with. And I gotta admit, it did look kinda cool at times. "Cut" looks more normal and all, so I liked it better initially, but after awhile I started missing the foreskin.

I'm thinking about going through foreskin restoration, actually. We should get opinons on that one!

Not a problem, good hygiene is easy to maintain with an un-circumcised penis, it's down to the person, not the penis.

And a vagina isn't prone to bacterial infection? So how come water infections and thrush is FAR more prevalent in women? Plus wipe the wrong way and you are in the sh*t (pun intended). Ignorance is bliss.

If I had a boy, I would get him cut too for health reasons.

If you had a girl would you have her clitoral hood removed as bacteria can accumulate under there too? Perhaps trim her labia for the same reason?

No offence, but I just think that when they are cut they look better.

It could be argued that a circumcised labium looks better; does it make it the right thing to do? No! You need to think of the child and not your deluded sense of aesthetical importance overriding the child’s well being.

From what I understand, the US is one of very few countries where circumcision is done at all. Jews circumcise for religious reasons & also a couple of Muslim countries do too. But the rest of the world, including Europe, Canada, Mexico, Asia, generally don't, & I think that the # of procedures done in the US is dropping, about 50/50 the last I heard. Uncircumcised truly is the norm worldwide.

My son, is now 23, & says he's quite happy that he wasn't circumcised. Male circumcision has nothing to do with female "circumcision", a totally incorrect term since it's a barbaric process of cutting off the clitoris for the purpose of denying women sexual pleasure.

Well I have two boys one is circumsized and one isnt I didnt really have any concern about my younger one being cut like daddy was just what thier moms wanted since I didnt have a preference I went along with it. Being cut I would say I prefer to be this way but if I was'nt can't honestly say it would be important enough to me to get it done.

To each his own I guess

It depends on what you are used to. I've seen both and the uncut grosses me out. I prefer to sleep with and do oral on a man that is cut. Even after washing a lot, the uncut still has an odor and is just not attractive to me.

However, if I had a child - I would not have him cut. It is barbaric and it should die out. Eventually women would never see cut ones and not know what they are missing out on anyway.

The term 'female circumcision' covers many procedures. Removing the clitoral hood is exactly the same as removing the male foreskin. Please check any medical reference book for conformation. Removal of the foreskin does reduce sensation, so yes in a sense it does deny men sexual pleasure.

The PC term is Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and can involve anything from a bit of blood-letting to cutting off the clitoris and even sometimes sewing the vagina shut so that it's re-opened by the husband when he wants to have sex. It's not done in a hospital by a doctor but rather by a tribeswoman with many times dirty, unsterilized knives. Many young girls die from blood loss or infection. Women who survive go on to die during child birth from complications related to being sewn shut and ripped open repeatedly. These women never enjoy sex, they only suffer pain from it. This is a barbaric practice against young girls and women that is still happening today - and you can support Amnesty International in stopping it.

I am uncircumcised and so is my son. I believe it is an advantage to be so. Sexual contact can be a lot more sensitive (from what I am told). With normal hygiene, there should not be any other difference in sexual contact.

Personally, I think many women get turned on by uncut guys (that is my experience anyway) because we are the exception to the average male. :-)

less likely to get a urinary tract infection

That was my issue and why I got cut later in life. Especially as the Corps would dump in the worst conditions. Sometimes 2 weeks without bathing.
Not that it mattered much, when I was in Sri Lanka during thier civil war....I would hit the river every other day and still got one anyway.
Makes it damn tough to piss with a urinary tract infection and I had to gauge my hydration by urine color.

Yes, women can have bacteria too but that's not what we're discussing so please try and stay to the topic and not relate male circumcision to female when clearly one is to deprive someone of any sexual pleasure and is not done in a medical environment. No comparison at all.

In today's society we are shocked and angered by female circumcision yet we continue to look down on men who have not done it

Female circumcision is absolutely NOT the same thing as male circumcision.. Please do not confuse the two. Female circumcision is the mutilation of the female genitals which often is done to a preteen girl without anesthesia because her ignorant parents believe that by preventing their daughter from ever enjoying sex they are somehow doing her a favor.

FC is done to deliberately prevent girls from ever having sexual pleasure because the frigging stupid ignorant Muslim and African tribesmen believe that women who have pleasure from sexual relationships are “whores” or will become “whores.”

Sometimes the vagina is then sewn closed to prevent the penis from inserting properly. These women sometimes have to be sliced open later on just to have sex. They often become frigid because sex is so painful or bleed to death at childbirth because of the scar tissue.

Please educate yourself on this and NEVER again confuse the two. Male Circumcision can, in cases where hygiene is not as easy, prevent HIV transmission or at least reduce it’s risk. It can also help to prevent the transmission of other STD’s. Female circumcision is a practice that spreads HIV and is one of the greatest crimes against women in the world short of sexual slavery. It has absolutely NOT redeeming value and is a crime against humanity.

It is my personal hope that some day no girls will ever again be mutilated in this fashion because of ignorance and stupidity and the deliberate oppression of half the human population in some regions of the world.

Yes, and I in fact got one at the age of 22. I was with Battalion Landing Team 3/3 off of Iran on an assault ship. Marines on an assault ship don't really have a "job" at sea so we get bored.
Well the navy battle surgeons get bored as well. lol So I walked in and just flat asked and it wasn't a problem. "Sure Marine, well fix you right up."

Used to think "I" had some crazy ideas when bored! Guess my parents taking care of that while I was a infant ruined any chance of that kind of excitement!

I am an uncut male and well like someone pointed out earlier, hygiene is based on the person not the penis, some people are turned off and think they look like anteater's haha but that's life...I'll keep searching for ants

I certainly agree with you. I think it really has to do with being an adult about it. We are born the way we are intended to be and lots of us forget that. When I was in high school I thought being uncut was gross and funny looking....but now as I'm an adult and have learned to appreciate what I've been given in all aspects of my life...I realized that he the uncut guy isnt any different than the guy who is cut. They look the same when hard...they perform the same when hard...and the taste the same when hard...(speaking about a guy who is clean, that is)...the only time they look different is when there soft. I really appreciate a guy who doesnt put himself down for being uncut or go and get it done just to please the rest of society. We need to grow up!

I find it morally wrong to abuse children, especially for the sake of aesthetics. Perhaps that is were we differ.

It's now becoming the norm to not have it done here in Canada because it's not covered by our health plan like it used to be so parents can't be bothered to shell out the money to do it.

Such a shame that people can't afford to mutilate there children.

Yes, women can have bacteria too but that's not what we're discussing so please try and stay to the topic

I didn't raise the idea of bacteria being relevant to mutilation, you did. If you didn't want it discussed why bring it up? It is totally relevant to the topic as it shows the hypocrisy of attitude towards circumcision (mutilation), and as such widens the debate while remaining relevant.

and not relate male circumcision to female when clearly one is to deprive someone of any sexual pleasure and is not done in a medical environment.

So what about Jewish circumcision carried out by a mohel (generally not carried out in a medically environment), then sucking blood from the wound? What is medical about that? Sounds like a sick basta*d suck a child’s penis to me!

No comparison at all.

As I have stated previously there is a direct comparison between the removal of the foreskin and that of removing the clitoral hood. Ignorance of anatomy is no defence when posting.

Does anyone know their family's (males) circumcision status?

All of the males in my family are circumcised. My uncle (by marriage) I assume is. My other uncle (by marriage) actually may not be because he's Mexican, or half, or something.

But my two little cousins (8 and 4) were circumcised at birth. My grandfather probably was either at birth or in the army/war.

My dad is. His brothers are. His father, chances are, yes. My 24 year old cousin is. My other little cousins (like 12 and 10) are as well.

And my dad recently told me he wanted me circumcised when I was a baby, and wished he did it.

He told me I should go out and do it, but I had already did.

wow....

there have been a lot of points brought up that i didnt think about... and also its ALWAYS good to hear a males POV about it...

for the ones who had it done later in life, was it as super painful as people say it is?

and i have been with uncut ones and i never had them 'smell' i know one of my exbfs was so anal about it, he would make sure to pull back the skin before he pee'd and then dry it when he was done...

that seems like an added step, but, women have to remember front to back and make sure we are all dry too, so whats the difference?

but for those who have given REAL answers, thanks!!!!!!!!!
