| Main Site Gone Widescreen Friendly ??? - Post any Problems Suggestions Here Posted: 7/28/2007 4:25:22 AM | | I was surprised to see a widescreen when I logged on. At first I thought something was wrong with my computer. Was there a previous notice about this? Anyway, computer technology is always advancing. As soon as you get used to something, it's time to change. But a lot of people don't like change. I for one don't mind change. At least widescreen monitors have come down in price. And just wait for February 2009 in the US when the congressional mandate takes affect that all television transmissions go digital. So if you have a televsion that can only receive analog, it will be useless. | |

| Main Site Gone Widescreen Friendly ??? - Post any Problems Suggestions Here Posted: 7/28/2007 5:08:18 AM | I have a widescreen monitor so it looks better for me but I agree with those that haven't got one! They will have to scroll a bit and that can be annoying! Maybe there should be an option when you log on to choose either format? Oh and the brightness is not great for peeps like me who suffer from migraine so tone it down a wee bit pleaseeeeeee! | |

wide body, wide screens, wide lots ... get with the times people .... it's just a matter of time. ]
What's the poing of asking our opinions if you're just going to disregard it and shoot the 10% down?
The widescreen isn't exactly user friendly. Yes times are changing blah blah blah but does that me that those who don't have a widescreen need to be ignored?

the phenomena of the internet and complaints. Simply because the people affected are the only ones complaining doesn't lessen the statistical facts that it's only slightly above 10% of users who will be affected. :)
Just the messenger on the facts and why things are done with respect to technology. :)
which is great way of telling everyone who is affected to lump it? dont you think?... so what now? do the 10% have to go and buy a wide screen.......
i personally think a pp got it right by saying "if it isnt broken, dont fix it!"
this site is a fantastic way to meet and talk to people and my hat is off to Markus, for such a great idea..... and all this for free.... however with all due respect, this new layout.... is doing my head in ........... please reconsider....

you're quite welcome to interpret the statement as you see fit, no one is saying lump it, merely pointing out as others have, that technology is marching forward ...
however, as someone who is on the verge of probably needing reading glasses soon, I just tested the site on a, yes, backup dinosaurish 14 inch non widescreen (standard aspect ratio)display back up laptop.
I set the display resolution to 1024 by 768 and then set the font size in the browser to medium, and it works just great, no eye strain and I don't have to tape the display to my forehead, nor scroll from side to side ...
try it out ... | |

| graphic Posted: 7/28/2007 9:08:29 AM | i'm useing e7 so i cant say how it looks on firefox
but your first section of your graphic in your headder in the "search " is off by a few pix causeing a what looks like a 1-3 pix border down the top half of the page
you may look into lengthening your numbers for the actual graphic most likely your numbers are off in your codeing for that page

Just for this site?!
NO, Trapper.
Marcus' call, but if he is to continue to be #1, he will ensure his site is available: TO EVERYONE, REGARDLESS of their monitor size.
Another 8 hours left on his testing time?
Let's hope common sense prevails...

| Main Site Gone Widescreen Friendly ??? - Post any Problems Suggestions Here Posted: 7/28/2007 9:43:00 AM | I don't like the new widescreen look. It's a pain having to scroll back & forth just to read everything, almost puts you off. I like the idea of seeing the whole page at once... It was neat & compact. Now it looks like something from elementary level. I believe a lot of people appreciate the old way better... they just can't be bothered writing in. Why was it changed? There's an old saying, if it's not broken don't fix it. Please change it back! | |

Widescreen format, tiny screen laptop, sucks.
I do not like the widescreen Regardless what supposed Stats are thrown around to have you run out and buy the latest Stuff, most People do not have Widescreen Monitors ... not even close.
do the 10% have to go and buy a wide screen.......
only a scant fraction over 10% of the millions of users on POF are still clinging to them ... Pure Horsesh!t !!!
That might be a current Sales Stat, because that's what they are selling nowadays, not what is in is broad use. Many People here don't have a ton of Money to flush down the Toilet when their existing 17" CRT is doing the Job rather well.
Less than 20% of the People I know have a Widescreen Monitors. And of the ones that do, the Majority are Laptop Users.
My $ 1,800 ... 22" Graphic Monitor stays, regardless "where" the Industry wants to go, regardless what the latest "In-Thing" happens to be. 'Widescreen' has no bearing on any Graphic or Office work I do. And no Problems playing 16:9 Aspect Ratio DVDs either. I can tolerate black bars at the top and bottom just fine, I don't need a smaller Widescreen Monitor so I can see the back of the Wall a little better.
Wherever these supposed Statistics come from, likely nothing other that yet another commissioned Marketing Survey trying the get everyone "On-Board" to run out and buy the latest Toys. They can kiss my a$$.
Marcus' call, but if he is to continue to be #1, he will ensure his site is available: TO EVERYONE, REGARDLESS of their monitor size. Well said ...
