The colours are fine by me but now I am using a different computer with a smaller monitor I can see what everyone is saying about the format. Its too big and you have to scroll all the way over to read anything.

Update
If you have a non wide screen display, your current display can still work if you increase the screen resolution from 800 x 600 to 1024 x 768. The site will fit perfectly within that setting and without the need to scroll to left or right to see the entire page. I've tested this on standard aspect ratio display on a 14" laptop and no scrolling occurs. Adjusting to a samller font via the icreased resolution may not be for all, but that's what we have to work with.

For some who have their favourites locked onto the screen to the left or right of the browser window, the above solution won't help as the favourites will be taking up space needed by the site. Obvious solution would be to get rid of the favourites from being permanently visible and just access them from the browser's main menu bar when you need them.

Try this in the interim - Thanks

Guess I'm stuck with scrolling.

You need to increase the font size inside the "About Me" field. The fonts in the fixed fields look fine:)

The colour scheme is ultimately only a cosmetic issue and frankly doesn't matter much either way. Depending on the web browser (Internet Explorer, FireFox, Opera, etc.) in use folks often will have the choice to customize their browser's setting for how it displays colours. You can over ride the colours of how any website is displayed with your own choices for text colours and back ground colours. Have a look in the browser's various menus, including Tools, Options, Settings, etc.

There sure are many fish complaining about the need to scroll, and while I don't suffer this problem, I certainly do understand their frustration. Scrolling back and forth horizontally is a pain in the butt. Closing a side bar such as bookmarks, favourites, history, etc. might take care of the problem.

It is a simple matter to close any side bars. If you need to view the side bar again to visit another website just re-enable it. This is no more inconvenient that turning on the lights in a room on entering and turning them off again when you exit, and back on again when you visit the room later.

I also can feel the frustration the king fish must feel reading the comments here. His efforts to optimize a website for one display setting then makes the site too narrow and not make efficient use of screen real estate for some, and also too wide for others. There is no way to please everyone.

However there are a few things you may consider that may improve your browsing experience on any websites. Do ensure you have the latest version of the browser running that your computer's operating system can support. You might also try another browser too, for that might give you more options or flexibility, such as text size, than an older version might provide you. Yes, you can have more than one browser installed at the same time, and you can even use both (or more) at the same time too.

So my fellow fish in this pond, let's remember, the ultimate goal of being a member in this pond is to catch a fine fish, and not to worry about the colour of the water and if there are waves rocking the boat. There are no admission fees to swim in this pond and there are no fishing licence fees to reel in a fish. Does it get any better than that?

Good luck and tight lines!

Personally, I didn't even notice a color change.

What I DO notice, however, and it is a ROYAL pain...is having to scroll from side to side. Very annoying. Not all of us can afford to keep up with the latest technology. Someone mentioned firefox as a fix for the scrolling issue but I, personally, have Windows 98 so doubt it would be compatible and attempting to download it could cause havoc with my old 'puter.

People want music? Want the ability to choose their own color scheme? Um...this is a dating site. Let's keep it simple so we can focus on what we're all here for.

That's my two cents.

Thank you

You will be happy to learn that the latest version of Firefox will run on Windows 98. The hardware requirements are reasonable too.

Good luck!

It's sooo wide on my little Apple .... Perhaps I'll try it on my HP... laptop. Everthing seems distorted. I guess I just have to get used to it. Now .... the tests are another subject.....

Yes------it is a good color. Considering blue is a peaceful color that calms people down. The fighting irish used to paint this color in the locker rooms of the team they were playing ---to calm them down ---while they had there locker rooms painted red ---to hype them up . I like it --kinda reminds me of the ocean---an it's peaceful too.

But I think a distance figure (miles) from one person to the other would be cool ,an save time on figuring out if the person is worth driving all the miles to meet them .

what the heck is happening to the fonts now? The last 5 posts on the end of the profiles is huge! And I prefer the black to the blue for the main part of the profile.

edit: Thanks for putting it back the way it was. LOL carry on.

Hi,

Well, lo and behold, the sideways scrolling issue has been rectified! Man, didn't know I had so much power! lol

Glad I don't have to try the Firefox thing. You have NO idea what trying to download anything does to my computer. I know I need a new puter but it's not in the stars at the present time.

Thanks

Oh wonderful Creator of POF it's still filling my screen wide and nice, 20" average screen, and it seems to be working for others with smaller really old style screens and or laptops. Great Job!

Thanks for fixing it and not reverting it back to the old way. didn't like everything in the center of the screen with huge borders and scrunched up faces. Even on smaller screens it was scrunched up. This is so much better!

On another subject, we do need more emoticon selections. A barf one, and even just a smiling one old school, and others. Hey, if you have the time and space to do it.

I take that back, some what, as now the same old scrunched up thumb pictures are back when viewing Matches and such. It was nice there for awhile.

Sure wished that the True Majority voiced their opinions about the change so it wouldn't have been put back to the old scrunched up way. Forums are nice still, full screen. Please oh Might Creator of POF make it so the same as Forums for the rest of the site, it sure was nice in that short period.

No, no options or choices change it on my side, done that from many angles and nothing.

People, upgrade your monitors and video cards! Do all of you that have such problems with scrolling use 14" monitors or something like that? The average size for the last couple of years has been 20". There are many others that are bigger and used widely too.

Arrgghhh...

The life of a pirate.
