Bloodplay is extreme and then some, but that's not the red flag here. Not even the kinkiest bloodgimp goes home with a complete stranger to be tied up and bled or anything else.
The thing about kink that inexperienced people rarely understand is pretty damned simple. Even mild kink involves considerably more risk than an ordinary one-night stand, and the pleasure of kink isn't happening unless trust has been established first. OPie's date was either a psychobabe of the worst kind, or, more likely, she was nearly as inexperienced as he is. If she had been around real kink ("Safe, Sane, and Consensual") at all, she wouldn't have expected some random guy to volunteer for anything, let alone a close shave.
This goes for everybody: your new acquaintance may say s/he is kinky, but, if s/he pressures you to put on the slave costume before you even know each other, then s/he doesn't know what s/he is doing. OK?
